One of my new favorite Tier 5s for sure. The buff synergy is incredible, for both its main attack and it’s ability. I had Popseidon + Alch Buff + Overclock + Call To Arms + Brickell, and 98 was melted in three seconds with one Ice Jet. Plus, it’s freaking Poseidon.
The big problem with seeking is it has a very wide turn radius so if it gets off track it will get very far off track trying to turn when going straight would have set up up the explosion well.
@@lifetake3103 although i understand what you mean, i would argue that a 0-5-2 is alot more helpful in more situations than a 2-5-0, 9 times out of 10 your putting it in a spot to throw down a track so having the other two shots curve back into the track rather than fly diagonally away from the track where the value ends after a couple feet could be a game changer in a sense. also the wide turn is only really a detriment if the spear gets thrown perpendicular to the track and there is no track behind it but at that point its more or less a placement problem. then again the argument falls off if you place a bottom path mermonkey since by that point its not aiming at the bloons on the track but a fairly wide bloon tornado in which i can kinda see the value of a 2-5-0
How the projectile works is like a hrp dartling. A 0 damage 2 pierce projectile that whenever it hits a bloon, it summons an explotion of 2 damage and 3 pierce . It’s basically a 2 damage 6 pierce projectile, but if bloons are close the explotions overlap and deal up to 4 damage
I think it's obvious for this tower, but from what I understand about this tower because I'm just trying it: 2-5-0 Is better for straight lines like Cubism, and 0-5-2 is MUCH better for everything else. It can get intrinsic camo and seeking so it can make more use of the Trident's waves. Yes, 2-5-0 does give more attack speed, but I feel like the seeking is more important.
white bloons should be immune to attacks from tier 2 middle path just to make the interaction feel more strategic. it’ll likely not come up often enough to stunt it’s power much but i think it’s a decent trade off especially considering enough things can’t hit purple already

The 0-5-2 crosspath is definetely better in all occasions. Most of the increasing pierce of the waves is gone when they don't seek the bloons. The attack speed buff is less useful when homing shots can enable all the pierce especially with the triple shot of Popseidon. Also putting him on straight lines is actually bad, because the tridents can get pierce capped before the wave gets bigger and increases in its pierce. It's better to put him perpendicular to a line so the wave doesn't get insta pierce capped, grows in size and then seeks back
@@zefix3133 that probably depends on the distance to the target and the size of the target. All three can probably hit a BAD from pretty far away, but you do bring up a valid point.
I did some tests in sandbox against A ZOMG, grouped BFBs and spaces ZOMGS and 2-5-0 did better with all of them, which I didn't expect. I dunno, it was only one map though.
I like this tower. It feels like a chimera of a lot of different things. The reverse snowstorm allowing water towers to go on land, the juggernaut balls from the middle path, the the village like buffs of the bottom path. It feels very unique but familiar at the same time.
Probably depends on the map for which crosspath is better. The right curves maximizes those trident explosions. Also if someone is trying to avoid using a MIB for some reason, only 0-4-1, 0-4-2, 0-5-1, 0-5-2, and 0-0-5 can do anything to DDTs. And the bottom path isn't made for popping stuff anyway.

The "power" is actually how long the waves that split from the trident last, so the bigger the wave gets on the trident the farther the secondary waves will last/go, it's not actually referring to damage.

This has to be my fav strat, The tier 4 mid path witht he tier 4 bottom path is already enough to save up to Poseidon with a decent hero and you can save A LOT
One cool thing to note about popsideon's ability is while it does time out when when the round ends I noticed that the balls won't time out while the round is active so if you use it immediately the balls stay active until the round ends. Idk if this was a glitch in my game but I had 10 stacks with ultra boost on it and permabrew buff if anyone else wants to try it.
I find it crazy that with top path Mermonkey allowing for more water, making water strats wildly more consistent they massively buffed Pirate Lord, I've yet to see much focus put on it but it feels so darn strong. Basically double the hooks and a shorter cooldown (went from 45->40)
Very clear that P lord is someone's favorite, it was op for a while, it got nerfed to being balanced, and now they massively buff it. It also has +1 grape damage too. These changes feel so far out of left field to me.
from my testing on sandbox the bottom crosspath is actually better dps wise than top path for popseidon, maybe because popseidon shoots 3 tridents in an arc and the side tridents miss the majority of bloons without seeking. this was without buffs and on monkey meadow though, so results may vary especially on maps with lots of obstacles to make the crashing waves and ice balls more effective.
I think bottom crosspath is better to fully utilise the pierce. It already fires really fast. Also range is really good (because damn this thing lacks range)
0-5-2 mermonkey is 100% one of my fav towers. It was able to make it to round 188 on logs on easy mode and i honestly could‘ve squeezed out maybe 1 or 2 more rounds with better macro (but ew, good macro?!) Here is the setup: Ultra boost + Brickell + Call to arms + Carrier Flagship + Lord of the Abyss + Support Sun temple + energizer + perma brew
Hey I've check a suspicion of mine. Each tentacle is independent. And each has their own cooldown. And each can only attack straight in front of them. This mean that the tentacles arnt bound to attack speed. If a bloon goes around the top path mer monkey they will get every tentacles to atta k them. Allawyas. Tentacles have no atta k speed limit in between each other. Second thing, is that you loose half of your potential dps by not having the mermonkey surrounded in track. Since some of the tentacles wouldn't be able to attack at all. You can test this by placing him 300 on resort loop. And send 2 round 100 ceramics. Fairly fast. One will trigger all tentacles and get destroy. The other will take one or two tridents and go through before tentacles grow back.
This is accurate, similar to tack shooters you'd want to put it in a loop to maximize damage. But if you don't have a loop on the track, you can just use the bottom path to essentially make your own loop.
@@squiddler7731 I mean. Placement wise yes. But what different is that the next tentacle is always ready to shoot as long as it's not in cooldown. The first bloon to do a full loop will take every damage. And then some can sneak up. It more focused despite shooting all around himself. While tack damage all but not a single onz more.
The power difference between arctic knight and popseidon is insane. you can go from barely surviving, using all your abilities each round, to easily soloing for 30 rounds after you get popseidon. can't wait to see the unique challenges that spawn from this tower
i did end up figuring out how to do a mermonkey start for my chimps run on luminous cove. I placed it a little off center toward the right below the track ended up upgrading it to 201 before buying a 102 sniper for any stray bloons. I then saved up for brickell and a 2nd mermonkey and it was smooth sailing from there.
Man I gotta say, from ISAB's initial video on the Mermonkey, the Popseidon felt like it didn't do much, not only did it feel not powerful enough for its price, it felt greatly weak even if it was cheaper. I don't know if I was sleepy or not while watching that video, but my whole view on this tower coming into this video was "Okay, let's see what this overly expensive icicle impale without the stun can do" and it really messed with me, because I just saw it wipe out round 111 with typical buffs. So yeah, what an ability (that's totally not getting nerfed next patch).
Id say seeking is better because it goes over walls and increased pierce and the waves will typically hit way more often because of that so more damage overall plus tier 5 gets the two extra tridents that don't really hit anything unless they are extremely close to the monkey (the middle path gives more pierce at tier 3 and above is what im talking about)
Honestly i think that the 052 is the better crosspath if you buff it. I did a water only dark castles CHIMPS run and 052 with all the 002 buff stacks does so much better. Alch buff and Striker Jones helped out on the pierce issue. Without the seeking, getting max trident size and getting it to land near bloons is the issue
here’s a possible challenge idea: Fire and Ice challenge! So only towers that either have an element of freeze/ice or burning/fire effect. I’m sure u can pinpoint all the towers that fit the criteria, including the path shown in this video! There’s a bunch of maps u could do it on but if u really want a challenge u could do it on Infernal for the red and blue effect 😎
ISAB, I hope you see this, try the Final Harmonic with the Doorgunner MK, it's hilarious and so strong - Use the doorgunner ability to pick up the Harmonic Totem
They need to buff xp gain, beast handler was forgotten since you had to use a bad tower to max it out and it seems that this cool tower may have the same fate
I doubt it. Part of the issue with beast handler was that it didn't really play well with other towers. Either you go all in on it or it doesn't do much because you didn't focus on it enough. With this tower there's built in support and synergy from both the top and bottom paths, so even if you don't go for tier 5s it's still strong.
So what I'm taking away frim this is that the top path Mermonkey would be insane in the range of rapid-fire towers like the Elite Dumbfender and the bottom path Mermonkey would go completely stupid in every single stall strategy, especially because they boost each other's range and every siren can trap bloons independently. As long as you can guarantee lead detection, being surrounded by a bunch of sirens and enough abyssal knights to spread the buff, this tower will take matters into its own hands.
The ability annihilates moab class bloons for some reason despite the balls only doing 1 damage to bloons. Attack speed buffs also makes the ability even better.
They should make a monkey knowledge that lets water towers be placed on land around abyss warriors and makes the lord of the abyss do the same in a larger radius Edit: possible name: Hadal Zone

Imma just out this out here because Brickell's tiers are a bit confusing. But... after lvl 8, naval tactics (one of her abilities) allows all water monkeys to see camo. Hope this helps :3

The upgrades page should really show some actual information. I’d be fine with the upgrade hover or the info button having some interesting flavor text if *something* in game tells you real information.
0-5-2 with obyn, 5x range buff, and jungle drums village has really big range and thats the situation i would pick bottom path. With brickell i agree with top path though

the best combo with this monkey is with the glaive lord, and the bottom path of mermonkey for me. It's so fun to use AND it destroy everything and EZ B.A.D I had 95k at the end of my game in a easy map (ok it's an easy map but im not that good)

Just wanted to add that the seeking from bottompath makes the extra shots pretty much follow the main attack and is definitely stronger than top path.

502 Boomer and 205 Mermonkey can 2TC and it MAY also be able to 2 Megapops at the same time (i was around 60-70k pops away from 2 Megapops)

They need to buff xp gain, beast handler was forgotten since you had to use a bad tower to max it out and it seems that this cool tower may have the same fate
I doubt it. Part of the issue with beast handler was that it didn't really play well with other towers. Either you go all in on it or it doesn't do much because you didn't focus on it enough.
With this tower there's built in support and synergy from both the top and bottom paths, so even if you don't go for tier 5s it's still strong.
I think the ability should have Waves crash on the screen from the left and right border to make it more obvious that the ability was used
Seeing Popseidon without seeking is like seeing top path Ninja without seeking
So what I'm taking away frim this is that the top path Mermonkey would be insane in the range of rapid-fire towers like the Elite Dumbfender and the bottom path Mermonkey would go completely stupid in every single stall strategy, especially because they boost each other's range and every siren can trap bloons independently. As long as you can guarantee lead detection, being surrounded by a bunch of sirens and enough abyssal knights to spread the buff, this tower will take matters into its own hands.
Popseidon goes crazy on cornfield and sulfur springs
The ability annihilates moab class bloons for some reason despite the balls only doing 1 damage to bloons. Attack speed buffs also makes the ability even better.

8:33 why did you jump past the camo leads here? What tower do you have that kills them? Idk the destroyer is 3-2 so can’t see camo. Brickel can’t do it on his own…
Imma just out this out here because Brickell's tiers are a bit confusing. But... after lvl 8, naval tactics (one of her abilities) allows all water monkeys to see camo. Hope this helps :3
The multiple projectiles from popsidon seems to make the seeking Path worth something?

The upgrades page should really show some actual information. I’d be fine with the upgrade hover or the info button having some interesting flavor text if *something* in game tells you real information.

Yeah they definitely changed the target button on the UI... If you think that looks ugly go and take a look at the camo priority button, it's bad.
Mermonkey is probably my new favorite tower. I love middle and bottom path tier 5s for different reasons!

the best combo with this monkey is with the glaive lord, and the bottom path of mermonkey for me. It's so fun to use AND it destroy everything and EZ B.A.D
