Riders try to escape from EDSA bus lane

  • The MMDA have announced that the EDSA bus lane penalty will soon be increased to P5,000.
    Repeat violators will pay even higher penalties, along with being required to attend seminars and suspension or even revocation of license.
    When a driver or rider fails to stop, or runs from enforcers, they typically send a big bike to chase the vehicle.
    If the big bike is unable to apprehend the driver, the MMDA usually submits it to LTO for show-cause order.
    What could have been a simple ticket for using the bus lane, can turn into something far more serious.
    Part 1/2.

    MMDA have officially announced the new bus lane penalties, although there will be a public information campaign before they take effect.
    First Offense - P5,000
    Second Offense - P10,000 plus one month suspension of driver’s license, and required to undergo a road safety seminar
    Third Offense - P20,000 plus one year suspension of driver’s license
    Fourth Offense - P30,000 plus recommendation to Land Transportation Office for revocation of driver’s license

      Finally, the MMDA has officially announced the new bus lane penalties-thank goodness for clear rules!
      Although I occasionally drive through the bus lane in the 'EDSA - Ayala Avenue Tunnel' southbound during weekends, I've noticed that buses no longer use this route; instead, they go up to the Ayala Malls. Should I stop using this lane?

    Those caught fleeing should immediately have license confiscated, bike impounded and made to walk from wherever they were stopped. Add 5 days jail time, license suspended for one year and 10K fine on top of whatever else they find wrong with the driver. Too many people are being put at risk for scofflaws to try to evade being stopped. Those who work for Joyride, etc., should have their membership revoked permanently and not able to work for a competing company period.

I don’t know if you have influence or access with the authority but please can you do me a favor. A suggestion to the authority to at least paint the whole road and put a reminder that a specific lane is dedicated for bus. Tell the authority to do some research on how the other country implement their bus lane. Let say I’m from the province and I don’t usually drive in Manila, one time I pass by there I am not really familiar and updated on the ongoing rules happening in Manila. I might forgot that I am taking a bus lane. Now if there are enough warnings in the road then I persist to violate it, then I am need to be apprehended.

    MMDA should penalize MC Taxi companies with 1 week bans on major thoroughfares for every violator apprehended or proven from their camp. There’s no regulation in the Philippines when it comes to customizing cars.
      If you think that’s a big deal, you can literally change your plate to look like a government owned vehicle/plate.

      @GadgetAddict  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Well they're not just proposed, it's already been approved and signed by the Metro Manila Council.
      I think it's probably right that they do their information campaign before the new penalties take effect.
      I've been talking about those increased penalties for a long time. I agree they're needed because often it's the same drivers being apprehended day after day.

It is not optional to have a driver's license. It is NOT optional to follow the laws. Too all you who keep complaining, SHUT UP AND FOLLOW THE DAMN LAWS!

    if the bus lanes will be a permanent fixture, increasing the road height of the bus lane, those areas that cannot be barricaded, by 60 cm will certainly discourage other vehicles from entering. normal bus lane will be only in crossings, ingress and egress points

    Before implementing the new rules, make sure MMDA should install enough signages and barriers. Kung may barriers mga yan mas less or totally walang papasok sa invusible BUS lane. Lol

    • @GadgetAddict
      @GadgetAddict  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Well it's not invisible because there's overhead signs.
      And most of the bus lane does have barriers. It's only on the flyovers and tunnels that the barriers were removed for safety issues.
      If you've seen my other videos, you'll know they also catch a lot of drivers and riders inside the barrier sections too.

    I think it's time that the government regulates the sale of motorcycles. There are many prevailing factors which should merit such regulation, specifics of which are current number in the road, accidents and deaths brought about, violations incurred through misuse, and crimes involving MCs. In the same purview we should also mention the abusive use of e-bikes.
