If I'm doing a heliloop should I have bar pulled in or sheeted out? I had bar pulled in the other day and the loop ended up being a hybrid of a heli and kiteloop. I was on a 10m FX and had bar parralel with lines. I don't know if my problem was initiating too soon or because I had bar in. Almost broke my ribs.
I'm learning my first jumping kite loops and keep getting killed because I end up nearly horizontal with the kite while looping (the kite being in middle of the power zone) and getting hurtled downwind. What is the strategy to making a kiteloop near 12, so there is less forward pull?
yes :) In the drawing from second 1:30 of the movie, you can see that the black control bar is in the "POWERED" position ( pulled at maximum near the chicken loop ), and the white control bar is in the "DEPOWERED" position ( pushed all the way ). Please ask me, if this is not explicite enough.
In the second 0:27 I made a powered kiteloop. I make depowered kiteloop to avoid backstall when i go uphill in light wind on the snow or I make powered kiteloop in the first half of the rotation and depowered kiteloop in the second part of the rotation to reduce the horizontal pull of the kiteloop. Back Stall: this happens, when the kite flies backwards into the power zone or towards the ground. www.kiteforum.com/wiki/index.php?title=Terminology#B
I use the words POWER and DEPOWER ( instead of " sheeting in / out " ) because the effect of the action is involved in these words ( when the wind is strong ). This is good for creating a REFLEX ( and of course for your safety ). WARNING. I'm speaking about CONTROL BAR, not sheeting in/out SYSTEM.
Perfect , thought as much but didn't want to get mixed up with looping the kite in a powered path or non powered (heli) . Gonna give it a bash, Thanks for the excellent vid!
Hey kite4surf . I am watching your vids like over 1 year(From time to time) and now i am ready for a kiteloop ;) But according to you graphic, for me its unclear what the bar position must look like when i want to make a heli loop. Should the bar be depowered and the position tight, or must the bar be powered and holded tight...? I dont get it and i would love to hear from you. Greetings Steve
Very usefull video. thank you for taking the time to make it. I have a quick question, i have a flysurfer speed 3 12 meter and 19 meter, i have tried doing kiteloops with them but doesnt work to well. is that because of the kite itself or is that me? my little brother broke his back in 4 places because he paniced in a unexpected lift and did try the heliloop but the kite started flying behind him and towards the ground, so he landed straight on his back. how can that be avoided? any info would be appreciated.
1. About your little brother's accident . Kiteloop-ing in uplift is only for experts. In some conditions ( very gusty wind, low altitude , etc. ) it isn't possible to kiteloop safely ,even if you are an expert in kitelooping, but for shure your ability in kiteloop-ing would allow you to do the 8 figure or to steer the kite and land safely. If you are an expert in kiteloops , you will decide what technique to apply in an unexpected situation . Once again, jumping and kiteloop-ing is only for experts ! 2. Flysurfer Speed 3 is a very nice kite. I landed nice a jump with kiteloop on the water with the 21 m. I also succesfully landed by steering the kite in an uplift (also with 21) at Black Sea. But pay attention to gusty winds and to the collapse posibility of the kite.

9-12 knots?!! For those wind speeds I need a 16m kite to just ride, that thing is not going to loop. I learned my first kiteloops with a 9 meter kite with like 18-20 knots
Great tutorial! Its been added to our How to Kiteloop page over at stomptricks.com/tricks/kiteloop/ Click the link above for an entire page of Kiteloop tutorials!
Thank you for the time and dedication in doing this videos , help me progress much.Godspeed Vlad.

Super. This is the best vid on kite loops i've seen!

This video = pure gold.
Hi, thanks for the vid! Just to clarify, a "powered" kiteloop means bar sheeted in and "depowered" is sheeted out?

very well described where the dangers lie
Thanks
