    Andrew I noted you plane flight crockett, that is not because of you trimming, is because the board when you initialize was not level, that happen to me before, if you see that you horizontal bar do not match with the horizon is because is not sink, and some time if you trigger return home or fail safe, he's going to fallow the horizontal bar, and in extreme cases will dive into the ground, happen to me in one wing.

    Love the Matek 405SE and iNav. Awesome combination and even with all the peripherals, a fraction of the cost of the Vector.

    Hi again Andrew!
    I'm planning a winter project (in your summer) building an ASW28 and equipt it with FPV. As training I have a Timber UMX with a micro cam and VTX. I tried using goggles, but that didn't work for me as I'm using reading glasses, so now I go for a monitor mounted on to the TX. Then I'm building a FPV-pod a la Alan Moore to use on my pressent ASW 28.
    Now to the point. In the new ASW 28 I'm planning to use a FCB. I've studied your two videoes of the Matek 405, then I've found another FCB for fix wing, a Cyclops Storm. The major difference between the two is that the Cyclops Storm is complete DIY kit, (except cam and WTX) while the Matek 405 is more abuild-it-yourself gadget. And then the Matek 405 require some soldering and switching around with cables and plugs. But it sertanly has moore features and possibilities.
    I'm sertanly not a trained "solder", and have limitied knowledge in electronics, but I can read a manual and follow a procedure. What do you recommend?
    And you are using a variety of servo plugs. Is there a tool that fix the cable to the plug, and where do you buy theese plugs, 2, 3 and 4 pins and tools.
    Thanks for very interesting videoes.
    "Sev"

    • @AndrewNewton
      @AndrewNewton  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Sev. These are the Dupont connectors I bought www.aliexpress.com/item/1450Pcs-Set-2-54mm-Dupont-Connector-Kit-PCB-Headers-Male-Female-Pins-Electronics/32841687530.html There is a crimping tool available but I just use long nose pliers and solder. You would need to practice soldering before taking on the Matek F405, the fine pins are easy but the thick battery wires are more tricky to do nicely. Worth learning the skill anyway. I dont know anything about the Storm FCB but it does look easy to connect up. Interesting project, but flight control boards are not really designed for thermal gliders. Would be better suited to something like a Ranger 2000 with big batteries and long powered flight time.

    I have this installed in a SonicModell AR Wing. Everything works well except for one very annoying bug. The OSD drops out intermittently several times during the flight. The video is solid, but the OSD drops out. I have triple checked everything and even replaced the flight controller but the problem persists.
    I am not using the 5 volts from the ESC but am powering the board through the battery voltage only. I'm ready to pull out the F405 and go back to an OmnibusF4.

In INAV, I always select Auto for video format and never have had a problem.

You can add a Lost Model Buzzer/Beeper to the flight controller and, when the GPS Lock has been acquired, you will get an audible notification. I have set this up on my my two Inav/GPS builds and I very much like having the audible notification. As long as the Buzzer is enabled in the Configuration Tab, Inav does this by default. Take care buddy!!!

      Yes. Flaps directly from the receiver. I know you like to use 2 channels for flaps. I slum it and use 1. Having used pixhawks in the past I now love the versatility of the modes of Inav. I have a couple of Furious F35 lightning flight controllers. I found the aileron servos needed the polarity changing to stop the FC turning the plane onto it's back. Guess what happens to flaperons when that happens. (Crow) I wonder if that could be induced by swapping the aileron leads??? I like your videos. I think a lot of other folk do as well. I have one of banggoods cheaper options for the f35 FC as well as the 2 "genuine" F35 kits. The 2 "genuine" F35s require the aileron servos' polarity to be swapped for the FC to react properly. The cheap one does not. I haven't checked this yet (but am going to) I wonder how the FC would react to swapped aileron leads????? If things were set up to match would the FC notice the "fiddle"

    What’s going on with RSSI? Nice video by the way. I tried setting up inav on a nano talon recently and pretty much took a sledgehammer to the board after a week of nothing but frustrations. I’m considering getting this board instead of trying another Omnibus F4 which imo is ridiculously cumbersome. I really want a vector but money may be an issue with that board being it’s almost $250US! I haven’t really decided. I am definitely getting this plane and ordering it in two days but for the flight board I prefer something that’s not going to take me days or possibly weeks to get configured. Can't wait to try my F405 Andrew, had it a while. Tip...put the crosshair on your OSD, this way you can tell how good your Pitch trim status is (Board Trim) when flying in Horizon. The AHI should pass thru centre as the plane cruises along in Horizon Mode.
    I need a model with Rudder to test its full potential as Im pretty sure iNAV will use both Ailerons AND Rudder during GPS Modes like RTH. It looked like it was over controlling a bit on your first RTH attempt?
    One of the most impressive things about your clip for me was the nice clean Video Link, even though this FC has a current counter on it. You really should try and fly in Horizon / Alt Hold more, it's by far the laziest Modes to have engaged...lol.
    Im assuming the Rudder is gyro stabilised?...you didn't really focus on it?
    Great bird to do the testing with......More please.

    • @AndrewNewton
      @AndrewNewton  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks to your comments in the past, if I was heading off down the coast for a distance test I would use Alt Hold and Horizon, and yes the rudder is stabilised too. More testing needed, may have been the wind causing the side to side seeking on that first RTH, or insufficient throttle. 15kn wind up there.

    • @EnglishTurbines
      @EnglishTurbines 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      For a test flight it was pretty good Andrew. I think on the first RTH it was trying to climb a bit too steep for the power level setup, and then it kind of turned off the stall each time..?
      I usually have RTH set at 100 mtrs and then 30 bank, 15 Climb , 5 Dive...usually works okay.
      Like to see it fly again in RTH to see if its using Rudder...?
      Thinking of putting it in my Skywalker 1900, but Rudder is essential for this one, its adverse yaw is terrible.

    • @AndrewNewton
      @AndrewNewton  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      From the WIKI
      If your compass is not 100% properly setup just disable it instead. A calibrated compass can cause orientation drift during flight that may not show up in the configurator(especially built-in ones on your FC). Really consider disabling it unless you need it. INAV uses GPS heading normally, Only on ground before GPS speed has been high enough or if error between GPS heading and compass heading exceed 60deg will it use compass heading
