Just watched downtown 81. I've been into no wave for a bit. Quite the underrated art movement. Dna, suicide, ,and the like are so influential. It's a shame they aren't popular today and the I IV V progression pop bands from the day are remembered instead.
Just google on: vagabonds tuxedomoon corbisier AND you'll get a list of all the online stores that sell it. You have to order it online, it's not available in "physical" shops. The title of my book is "Music For Vagabonds - The Tuxedomoon Chronicles" Cheers, Isabelle Corbisier
This is better than the album version. Tuxedomoon was not no wave, which was just another media created term anyway. Tuxedomoon was actually making well-crafted music, not just making an anti-music art statement. Writing a good conventional song is always more difficult than noise art.
These guys were pretty damned creative, don't you think? "Makes you want what you can't have. Makes you go where you can't go" I like this, but don't ever say "can't", because... you might. :-}
I think you misunderstood my use of the term "a few", which meant a few in terms of types of drugs used (which were not limited to acid by the way). And as to research I spent six years working on my book about them, meeting them all around the world, even going on tour with them. Some of them became friends of mine. So I'm pretty confident I'm not telling you bullshit here ;-)
This is not true: all members of the band - past or present - are still alive and in a good shape today. They did - indeed - a few drugs but this was quite explainable considering the San Francisco context they originally came from. I wrote a book about them (Music For Vagabonds - The Tuxedomoon Chronicles) that does address the drug issue as far as they are concerned. Cheers, Isabelle Corbisier
