Their daughter is missing out on learning Xhosa. When she grows up she might only be limited to English. It would have been wise to talk to her in Xhosa with passion, precision and assertion because she's gonna learn English anyways. They don't realise that they are the only opportunity for her to learn Xhosa.
Most of us speak good English even when at home we never spoke it. We therefore can speak our home language and English at the same time. And is cool mixing the two. Basically they don't have to bombard her with more English when she already has a very very good exposure at kindergarten/school.
In the next 20 - 40 years, it's gonna be SUPER ATTRACTIVE for someone to still be able to speak their home language because it's gonna be only a few who are able to do it.

@@ntswakiraphasha571 Hey I knew someone is gonna come with that view. You getting it all wrong mam. I have a kid myself and won't allow anybody to tell me how to raise him. But that doesn't mean I am not open to genuine ideas, critic or any kind of assertion towards the way I parent. We all know that western culture has already taken over our cultures. And everybody agrees that our languages are what is truly left in our spirits and might be lost too in the future.
You are absolutely not getting that I am just trying to get us all talking about this idea. Hence I am asking "what do you guys think?"
What do you think about the importance of ensuring our languages stay alive in the spirit of the new and future generations?
Every parent can absolutely, I mean ABSOLUTELY do as they please with raising their kids.
