- Deanna Shrodes grew up knowing she was adopted as an infant. At age 27, she found her biological mother, but her father's identity was kept from her. But in May, a DNA match led to an unlikely reunion, and then an unlikely act of kindness. David Begnaud has more.

I know the Shrodes... this journey in their life has been amazing to watch. I remember praying with them for God to help her find "Gus". He did.
For her it was 56 years, it took me 51. It's not always the fairy tale you want. But answers are still answers. Happy for her. And him not feeling alone at the end.
This made me smile this morning. I’ve watched this twice now. Thank you CBS and David for airing this story. I am so happy she found him and believed enough to bring him home. People like that are amazing to me and filled with love, not resentment. Wonderful story!
God is with her for sure! She has a miracle and I'm sure more to come! Sometimes there's a piece of you that's missing and I'm so glad that God gave her the opportunity to know her parents! God is always orchestrating and bringing things together including this woman and her parents!

You did a beautiful job on this story. I personally know Deanna and can attest to her search and longing to find her father. Her books she has written about her search are page turners. You can definitely see the difference in her now that she has found Gus. She has finally found where she came from and is no longer searching!
I was blessed to be present for the entire 10 years of Deanna’s search, and I served on her core search team that looked for Gus. I’ve known Deanna for 16 years, and she is a woman with integrity, a person who loves extravagantly. CBS heavily researched this story and they got it right; I can attest to that. I am honored to have been on this journey with her. It was daunting and tough, and sometimes discouraging, but I believe the resolution is validation for our perseverance.
So happy Deanna was able to share this definitely a tear jerker 😭😭😭 God is so good

I wonder why her mother didn't want to tell. What was it about him that she didn't want to disclose who he was? Did he know he fathered a child? Be that as it may, God is good. God gave her the name.
My father passed away unexpectedly when I was 23 years old. What I wouldn't give to just have a few more days with him, where I could ask him to tell me everything about himself. He was such an interesting man and I just wish I could have known him more. Beautiful story!
Organized religion is trash but this special woman is really doing the most to help me feel like that opinion could be softened. Her character and compassion is truly other worldly.
