Disagreed with him on that, danger, nah, caveman, nah, early kit, distorted jukebox turned up too loud, music that played to distortion sounded better than music that wanted to be clean and suffered from it... His danger theory is a no from me, he's cool though
Fascinating interview. I can't imagine someone NOT taking Tchad Blake's advice, lol. And great job on the Echomixer, sounds amazing here. It's hard to stop buying plugins because we're still at a stage where they keep getting better!
Fella is a legend, so interesting. I agree with him about hip hop pushing the envelope, but I'd say it's wider than that and includes R&B to some extent too. For really interesting production, I'd suggest there's some great audio stuff happening in folk music too; e.g. Lankum, who's sound is often genuinely terrifying! They use distortion in such a clever way.
Wow, a lot of new stuff on Tchads mix bus. Soothe and god particle and curve bender :P And Echomixer of course. Would love to see how he uses this stuff. He always uses his mix bus so creatively.
@@TheMadsChristiansen haha. Right on! Good observation 👍🏽 Ya Tchad has been a huge inspiration/mentor and an even greater friend. He’s definitely the 🐐
Interesting stuff. I somehow have the prototype Hughes SRS (which unfortunately doesn't work.) It's quite a bit different than the production models, and shares some stuff in common with the Bedini BASE units. I need to find someone capable of getting it functional, though it's a tall order since it's very DIY, using wire wrap style wiring and there are no schematics! I'd love to hear it.
@@javibanuelos23No wonder it's cool. I have a few summing mixers, but one of my favorite pieces of gear is the M-208. I don't use it often these days, but it's a charming piece of equipment. I was curious because I thought the size of Tchad's desk console was impressive. That's awesome! Thanks!
@@콕슨 Ya the Tascam family made some great pieces of gear back in the 80s. I have multiple Tascam consoles and reel to reels that I use pretty regularly. Cheers!🍻

Anyone who goes philosophical about distortion is an absolute fucking legend.
Absolutely right!
certified fact!
@@vvundertone Ah i see we are in good company here :D
@@h-voltage Yes and Tchad Blake is a master at distortion.

I would listen to Tchad talking all day man.
The man is an absolute treasure. It's unreal.
He s the only one that puts that Little Richard s Lucille vocal distortion on modern records. He s a painter, Genius
any examples?
Man, that was great!!! Super insightful right here. Sheesh. Thanks Tchad!

Thanks for everything you share with us, Tchad.
You are a great inspiration to me and many others.

This is so damn kewl. I needed to hear this from his mental processing to homeschooling his kids.

I adore his mixing for Suzanne Vega and American Music Club's Mercury. Also loved the work on Peter Gabriel i/o.
Just put this on as my morning mix inspiration, definitely resonate with all of this! Thanks for sharing my dude!
The "take out the garbage" spot resonated with me. My brain thinks the same way. Wish my mixes worked like his, too!
14:50 I'm so glad someone else feels the same way. 100% true.
very talented guy, love hearing him talk

Sorry to be a burden of bad news but that is actually a session mine that he used for this video. Tchad has a similar mix template👍🏽
@@javibanuelos23Okay, I see! Makes sense, also the drum bus plugins were new. Sounds good, my friend.

What an amazing guy!!
Love it, good job @Audiopunks 😊😊😊😊
Loved this man's work ever since Soul Coughing's Ruby Vroom. Super cool dude.
Beautiful knowledge
Happy you liked it!
I always click on anything Tchad, 'cause that's the way it is.

I think we could get along well.

@@katielowen Thanx! Tchad THE MAN!!!🤠👍
Great plugin, I love it
Still listening to the AM record, trying to figure out how he achieved those mixes.
what a legend. he gets it, the big picture.
very refreshing!
Legend ❤
Very interesting!
great and interesting
Brilliant.👍
legend. what´s the console he has got there?
Hi! It’s a Tascam that belongs to the owner of Stro Studio. Tchad has been 99% in the box since 2009.
The console is a Tascam M-520🙋🏽♂️
How are you? Thank video!
😎👏👏👏
Is Tchad based back in the USA again? (Or still HQ in Wales) - love his passion
Still in Wales. This was shot after NAMM in California in the Stro records.
🙌🏽
Y’all made him go out to Victorville? that’s wild 🤣🤣

Hey, hey, you do the Rock'nRoll! You just know how to do that👍🤘 and I'm learning from you🤔

Is there anyone here who knows what console he is using?
It's not his console. He's 100% ITB these days.
That’s my Tascam M520, Tchad works strictly ITB!🤙🏽
