Thanks for taking time to get the most out of this performance. I really like that you watched it twice. On is one of my favourite tracks. When they were discussing what to include in Map of the Soul 7, they sat together and flung out ideas for songs, for RM and Suga to work on. Jungkook suggested "On", throwing a reference to an early song, "No", which was about not just putting up with things (most young people in Korea face unreasonable demands from education and work). On is about "do your worst, bring the pain on, we can take it, and we can win" - and is a cry of defiance. The choreo is by Sienna Lau (aged 19) of the Lab (who are the dancers here). It was filmed at the Sepulveda dam, which is a whole personality here. For a track that genuinely was filmed in one take (with several repetitions to get it right) look for "Save Me". At the time BTS and Big Hit had no money so this was filmed on a rainy beach with one cameraman, who also had choreography so that he could get the right angles on all the moves. There was another camera, but that was filming the process as there is also (as is often the case) a "making of" film - in it you can see the cameraman moving right between the members and doing it perfectly. For years they had to make videos and music using the minimum resources because of no money, using managers for extras (throwing Jungkook up against a wall for example) and staff's personal cars, but it just made them more creative. Now, things are different.
the one in all black is j-hope! he is one of the main dancers (along with the guy in all white, silver hair, that started the song, Jimin) j-hope is also the dance leader. he helps with choreography, formations, and even helps the other members with their dancing as well. he was part of a dance crew before auditioning for BTS.

BTS's lyrics are important, glad you are paying attention to them. Always written by them (mainly by RM, the leader) and never throw-away. The meaningfulness of their work is a big part of why they are so special. And of course, as you can see, immaculate performers.
This was filmed in Los Angeles in the Los Angeles River basin at the Sepulveda dam. The music was recorded by the UCLA marching band, The UCLA concert band, a gospel group and the UCLA Blue Devils drum corps. The backup dancers are a well known LA dance troupe called The Lab. The first girl you see on the drum at the opening is the choreographer for this entire performance including for BTS and the dancers. You're right that this really is an anthem about fighting through adversity.

In early 2020, BTS launched Connect, BTS. It was a global art project. This video was the culmination of Connect, BTS. The official MV is the other one you saw. It is a beautiful cinematic masterpiece with tons of biblical and film references. Most people prefer this one bc of the dancing. You should react to the other just so you know. It’s worth it imo.
There is a MV for this song as well. This actually the Kinetic Manifesto Film. It was shot in one take, and if you like that kind of stuff you should listen to their song “Save Me”. They shot it in one take dancing on grass in a cold and windy location. Also a lot of their MV scenes are actually real, not Green Screen. If you watch their Bangtan Bombs, it shows the behind the scenes and making of music videos and other things such as award shows, concerts, and them just being chaotic.

I love the mention of it feels like a one-shot music video because they have actually done that before! The song Save Me has a music video that was done all in one take and it is very similar to this song in video composition-wise. Like, no visual effects, and the same background. The song Save Me is like EDM pop. As someone who doesn't like a lot of EDM songs, this one is golden and made me more open to listening to that genre! They are base in Hip Hop but they use whatever genre they like and mix genre's how they see fit they have creative freedom. They are Song Writers, Composers and Producers. All their lyric's are meaningful and are about subjects that aren't really talked about in Kpop but then unlike the majority of Kpop they have creative freedom and were told to write their own stories.

Jungkook suggested "On", throwing a reference to an early song, "No", which was about not just putting up with things (most young people in Korea face unreasonable demands from education and work). On is about "do your worst, bring the pain on, we can take it, and we can win" - and is a cry of defiance.
The choreo is by Sienna Lau (aged 19) of the Lab (who are the dancers here). It was filmed at the Sepulveda dam, which is a whole personality here.
For a track that genuinely was filmed in one take (with several repetitions to get it right) look for "Save Me". At the time BTS and Big Hit had no money so this was filmed on a rainy beach with one cameraman, who also had choreography so that he could get the right angles on all the moves. There was another camera, but that was filming the process as there is also (as is often the case) a "making of" film - in it you can see the cameraman moving right between the members and doing it perfectly.
For years they had to make videos and music using the minimum resources because of no money, using managers for extras (throwing Jungkook up against a wall for example) and staff's personal cars, but it just made them more creative. Now, things are different.

the one in all black is j-hope! he is one of the main dancers (along with the guy in all white, silver hair, that started the song, Jimin)
j-hope is also the dance leader. he helps with choreography, formations, and even helps the other members with their dancing as well. he was part of a dance crew before auditioning for BTS.

This is my ultimate "Bring It, Universe!" song, when I'm having a bad day/week where it seems life is throwing too much at me at once. I am a 53 year old mama ARMY with multiple health challenges & suffice it to say I can barely move properly, much less dance. But when I sing this song, I feel like I channel the strength of BTS & turn into freakin' Neo in The Matrix, when he stands down Agent Smith & does the BRING IT hand motion. Then I follow "On" with BTS' song "Not Today" & I feel ready to face my challenges again. 😂

This was filmed in Los Angeles in the Los Angeles River basin at the Sepulveda dam. The music was recorded by the UCLA marching band, The UCLA concert band, a gospel group and the UCLA Blue Devils drum corps. The backup dancers are a well known LA dance troupe called The Lab. The first girl you see on the drum at the opening is the choreographer for this entire performance including for BTS and the dancers.

In early 2020, BTS launched Connect, BTS. It was a global art project. This video was the culmination of Connect, BTS. The official MV is the other one you saw. It is a beautiful cinematic masterpiece with tons of biblical and film references. Most people prefer this one bc of the dancing. You should react to the other just so you know. It’s worth it imo.
There is a MV for this song as well. This actually the Kinetic Manifesto Film. It was shot in one take, and if you like that kind of stuff you should listen to their song “Save Me”. They shot it in one take dancing on grass in a cold and windy location. Also a lot of their MV scenes are actually real, not Green Screen. If you watch their Bangtan Bombs, it shows the behind the scenes and making of music videos and other things such as award shows, concerts, and them just being chaotic.

I love the mention of it feels like a one-shot music video because they have actually done that before! The song Save Me has a music video that was done all in one take and it is very similar to this song in video composition-wise. Like, no visual effects, and the same background. The song Save Me is like EDM pop. As someone who doesn't like a lot of EDM songs, this one is golden and made me more open to listening to that genre! They are base in Hip Hop but they use whatever genre they like and mix genre's how they see fit they have creative freedom. They are Song Writers, Composers and Producers. All their lyric's are meaningful and are about subjects that aren't really talked about in Kpop but then unlike the majority of Kpop they have creative freedom and were told to write their own stories.
