Very informative. Straight to the point
Thank you
Thank you for clarifying the difference between a ptin and an efin.
Rohan Leslie you’re welcome
Do I also a PTIN needed when EFIN is received with an LLC? Thank you for information
Yes you do
I’ve done taxes under a company for the past two years and got my EFIN to start my own tax company. What would be my next step? Software?
Do you fully understand how to do taxes, have a clear understanding of the backend, do you want to get a brick and mortar, do you have the clientele to cover the expenses, are you going to have ptin holders under you etc.
These are questions I would ask myself after working with a company for two years. I wouldn’t just leave if I don’t have the knowledge, of course you can leave but make sure you have the knowledge and relationships with experienced professionals as well.
My PTIN is connected to my employers tax business but now I want to open up my own business because can I use the same PTIN
Can you still receive an EFIN if you owe the IRS?
You could still file taxes with only a PTIN but have to mail the 1040 in with all supporting documents?
Yes
Do I need both to file from home?
Is a cloud based software a one time purchase or is it a yearly renewal kind of thing?
All software will be a yearly purchase. iRS updates the law every year
@@Taxontrack if I plan on running my own tax preparer business from my home can I get away with buy the cheaper ones like let’s say anything leas than 300$ like H&R Block software? O
@@victorbeltran1954 Going the cheap way isn't the way to go in the industry. Why? Because you'll miss out on the perks that it comes with (one being rebates that you get depending on what software provider you go with).
You want to not only make money during tax season but after tax season as well. Working smart not hard is my way
I have been preparing tax for some and pays me on 1099 but now I want to start up my business, do you think I can use the same PTIN on my own
You will need a EFIN a PTIN is used under a business that has a EFIN
Do i need a efin # if i decide to prepare taxes remotely but im going to work with a larger taz company for example i want to work As a independent preparer but working for Liberty Tax, So II will understand that any of the returns that I do I will have to pay them a Percentage of The fee that I charge each client, But I will also get the advantage of working under their Already established company name And they will allow me to use their software As well as there will always be somebody I can call if I get into a bind and need some help. I am barely starting to look into this and I actually have a appointment on Friday to speak with a branch Manager to see if this is something that will benefit me... But I don't want to sound completely ignorant when I speak with them on Friday I would like to know If I will be required to apply for my own efin?
How did it go
Hi I'm working for a company and self-employed..can i use the same ptin for both jobs?
You can only have one PTIN. When you say self employed are you working for yourself? Or you’re an independent contractor for another company?
So if I’m starting my own tax preparation company starting my with myself and bringing on one more person (working from home) do I need a ptin number or Efin number?
You would need both. I highly recommend booking a free call with Keisha to give you more insight and answer additional questions you may have. Visit startyourtaxcompany.com to book a call
So how do one file for an Ethan number?
Great question! Visit wwww.startypurtaxcompany.com
hello how can i get an EFIN as an foreigner ?
Hi, when I try to get my PTIN the ask me for business information but I don't have a business yet, What can
I do?
Corina New York Very great question. Are you planning to work under a company? If so, the owner will have to provide you with their business info
Taxontrack I would like to have my own business from home!
Corina New York If you want to start out having your own business you want to apply for a EFin as well.
In your case, start with applying for an EFin first
Hey sister, please can I schedule a consultation
i dont have to extra identity authorization they want like a mortgage student loan or credit card what do i do
*the
If you are referring to verifying yourself on the IRS website, you can request for them to mail you an authentication number. I forget exactly what they call it, but I had to do that to verify my identity. It took a week but after that you'll be all set to finish your account set up.
@@SweetTeek how do I do that ?
Wait so If I have a ptin I can still file taxes electronically as long as the company I’m working with has an efin number? Interesting
Absolutely! Are you looking for a company that’s hiring?
@@Taxontrack no my wife and i starting a company, we both just got the ptin but i was just wondering if we both need to get the efin or as long as one of us have it we will be ok.
@@Fluffyapproved both should apply to see who gets it first. Only one is required in you guys case. Efin can take 90 days so i would recommend applying today
@@Taxontrack yes we already submitted the application yesterday and we will be doing fingerprints today. Thankyou so much. We so excited
@@Fluffyapproved you’re welcome
