    This comparison was made between sparkling wines with different sweetness and that could explain why korbel was the favourite. Being "Extra dry" it can reach the 12-17gr per litre of residual sugar (Rs).
    The other two were champagnes with "Brut" level of sweetness (up to 12gr\L of Rs).
    Maybe a Brut version of Korbel would have been the ideal.

    Well, it looks obvious that you're not regular champagne drinkers, nor wine tasters. Korbel is not even a champagne, it's a sparkling wine from California that only use the same process as the real champagne does (cava from Spain, franciacorta from Italy and so on are also sparkling wines using la méthode champenoise, but are not champagne). Dom Pérignon is a beautiful champagne but you need to understand it in order to actually enjoy it. If you're not a champagne enthusiast better not wasting your money on such special bottles (which may look expensive compared with Korbel, but it has a decent quality-price balance). A more common champagne is Moët&Chandon brut Impérial, which is, by the way, the most complex wine in the world (each bottle contains tens or even hundreds of mixed wines to keep the same taste each year) and also, probably, the most easy-to-like champagne. Cheers!

      @patrickoneill2581 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’d say we are regular champagne drinkers but limited varieties and definitely not experts! In time it would be fun to learn more of the process and different flavors within the champagnes, but for now, this was a fun experience to see how we would rank them blindly on taste! An expensive test for sure but you have to start somewhere. I’ll try the moet next!

    • @androgynbeauty
      @androgynbeauty 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @A9five Yes, Korbel is not even close to a veritable champagne but they use this label just to sell more. It's a marketing trick, as others use the formulation "Made after the original CHAMPAGNE methods" where word ´champagne´ is written with huge fonts...

    I can see why you chose the Korbel as the other two are brut's making the korbel stand out from its sweetness and low acidity. Next birthday you have to do it again with Krug, Salon, and Louis Roederer vintages! Also as a tip ditch the flutes and go with white wine glasses.

  • @iamstillvoltron
    @iamstillvoltron 3 ปีที่แล้ว +10

    Korbel is NOT champagne. (Real) Champagne must be made in Champagne, France. Everything else is sparkling wine.
    Also, the Korbel is EXTRA_DRY, which means it has MORE sugar in it than Brut. If you aren't accustomed to BRUT champagne, you will usually prefer the SWEETER beverage at first. My advice for comparisons: Only compare brut to another brut. There is even a big difference within the BRUT category, the Dom Perignon has about half the sugar (dosage) of that Veuve. Finally, use proper wine glasses and swirl the glass a little to compare good champagne. PS: And as a bonus, the Dom Perignon is a vintage champagne, vintage champagne differs more than the other two because those are non-vintage (blend of different vintages, usually very similar between bottles, that‘s the goal of non-vintage champagne). Dom Perignon on the other hand is always from one vintage. 1996, 2002, 2008 were very good years. Avoid 2010. 2012 could be good again (available soon). The vintage year is marked on the front label.

    The other thing to keep in mind is that every bottle is different because it comes from different grapes. Even though they do try to have consistent flavour in NV champagne, you might buy a bottle of Veuve that you like and the next time you don't like. It's a natural process from natural products.

      If it’s not made in Champagne region of France then it’s not champagne. It’s quite simple. Korbel is claiming Méthode Champenoise which simply means the production goes through a second fermentation cycle. For instance, Prosecco only goes through one fermentation. Korbel does not play by the same rules as true champagne and well the grapes, soil and weather conditions are wildly different. This is elementary stuff tbh

    She usually has it with orange juice. (Uuggh..) If you don't have a taste for dry-wine, you will not appreciate Champagne. Neither will you taste the depth of flavour and it's complexity. Champagne is crystal clear and is so consistant. Every bottle every year will taste the same. Now you probably pride yourselves on saying that Champagne is not worth it as it's not as good as the cheap stuff.. Rather stick to orange juice and vodka or the cheapest sweet gassed sparkling wine then. This video is like looking at a 3D movie without glasses and calling it blurry. What a waste.
