Thank you, Andrew. I did enjoy that Vlog, you are right the Droitwich Barge Canal is pretty reeds and all. It's so nice to see boats back on the cut after the lockdowns. All the best. Stephen
A lovely stretch of water. I've been surprised how few boats are out. I went passed a Black Prince boatyard yesterday and so many hire boats standing idle.
Love the Blackthorn - just like snow. The reed-cutter was amazing. I'm always surprised you don't have a dog - I see you as a pure-bred German Shepherd kind of guy. Loyal, fearless, and great company, to say nothing of being a great watchdog. Stay well. John, Ontrio, Canada
Funnily enough John there was a snow covering when I woke that morning, but sadly it had melted by the time I got to the blackthorn. Can't say I'm much of a dog person to be honest. Much prefer cats, independent, sensual, and a healthy disregard for authority! Take care John.
‘Lockdown belly” 🤣 You are quite slim...my grandaughter keeps asking if I,m having a baby!! Nice to see some movement in your vids Andrew. Regards Stuart from Durham.
Beautiful video Andrew. Reed cutter no 2 is the little known Reed cutter at Elton Boat Club on the River Nene. Developed and driven by our very skilful Harbourmaster. I’d put a pic up but don’t know how on a comment, it looks like a medieval torture machine😃
The Nene is beautiful, but short on decent mooring spots which can make for very long travelling days. I travel up the 38+ locks to the canals in May and am always so happy to reach Gayton and then can relax😍
@@talesfromtheswansneck I’m sure you’ll love it, especially all the reeds and wild places. I just love cruising for a couple of hours and then walking, exploring the history of different areas, reading and relaxing… so the canals are perfect😍 Time to watch your latest vlog, I’ve just been to Tewkesbury en route to Brecon in my Campa.
Found that interesting Andrew 👍. Boy some of those bridges were low. Brings to mind a trip to Cropredy where the old Wedding Bridge (2008) was too low for our bicycles on the roof , which we had to dismantle to pass under. It was replaced somewhere in the next 9 years as it was no longer a problem to pass under in 2017. We have a swing bridge in the middle of Fenny lock too. Bit of a nuisance but we got help from the beer garden now and then. Happy travels 😁
Watched this on the Telly this morning. The first thing that came to mind was how beautiful the reeds were and then you mentioned them. Just had the first jam session with my band on the outside Ester Stage since last fall. A little chilly but wonderful. Then song birds are just coming back here.
Hi Andrew Another fine vlog. Beware of people telling you that their machine is unique as with the reedcutter. We have one that is almost a twin on the Basingstoke Canal. Jeff
Interesting what you said about the hybrid boat taking it back to to pre engine days. That’s what we are looking forward to on our next boat which is currently being built. She will be a hybrid so can’t wait to go cruising and hearing the birds and hear what is being said by those on the towpath.
A good vlog. Looks like it was good weather for filming. There is a tripboat on the Kennet and Avon, I think at Kintbury, pulled by a horse. A good quiet way to travel. Keep well.
Thanks Andrew - another interesting journey - I haven't "been" along this canal before (in a TH-cam sense). Might need subtitles though if you're going to keep talking which's, warts, dingworts and other such phrases 😉
Wait until you are on a decent straight, get a bit of speed on then turn the engine off for a minute or two.... then check your savings for that hybrid boat!
love your vlogs but please blend your audio a little bit better ... it's peaking when speaking and on the headphones it's too loud ... thank you ... take care Goran
Hi, I appreciate the feedback and will look into it.Might be the new mic I bought. Sounds fin my mac but not great on my phone. A couple of other people have mentioned it, but others say it is fine.

We think your photography is the best on TH-cam, beautiful.
Wow, thank you!
Once again a lovely, calm and altotether beautiful video! Thank you!

Put on over half a stone over lockdown, but 12 locks today and I hope some of it will come off.
Cheers Andrew, enjoyed the Vlag , love History and the wild life , take care , 👍🍷🍷🍷
Thanks, you too!
Crew from the Polly here. We had a great time, thanks for your guidance on the ladder lock and we really enjoyed meeting you too. Happy travels.
Not sure I helped that much but hey...

Thanks Mike, hope you 'enjoyed' that sandwich...
As per usual from Andrew, excellent viewing 👌🏻
Congratulations on hitting 5k. Looking forward to more beer meet ups in the future. Take care Del .
Cheers Del, I hadn't noticed until your comment. Had some really nice UBU in the Queens Head last night.
Beautiful video Andrew.

Thanks Wenna. I'll see if I can google an image of it. I hope I'll get to the River Nene next spring, it's on my list of waterways to do
What a lovely video. Always interesting and informative thank you for sharing.
This was great piece of canal work, very enjoyable to watch👍👍👍👍
Cheers Brian
Still one of my favourite vlogs 😊😊👍
Thank you.
As always really enjoyed your photography and (by the way) your sound levels for us were fine. Keep up the good work !
Thanks David. It seems a few people have had issues. Might be my new mic, but sounds fine on my mac, but not great on my phone.
Opening shot was awesome. Love your videos.
Thank you
Memories! This was our first boating trip great vlog now subscribed
Thanks for subbing Dean, and pleased it brought back some memories.

Oh no, you're putting me off! OK, not really

Superb vlog, very beautiful region
Thank you Jean-Louis, it is rather lovely.

At least I wasn't bent double like some parts of the Harecastle Tunnel. Add to the excitement though...
Hi Andrew, very nice video and very interesting.
Cheers Tony
Nice to have you posting again.
Good to be back
Really enjoy watching your videos, mate, nice visuals.
Cheers Johnny

It must be so good to be playing alongside others again, it's what music is about.
Hi Andrew
Another fine vlog.

Jeff
Thanks Jeff. He did say he takes it all over the country, so it's possible it is the same one as on the Basingstoke, but who knows...

Lucky you. It was so nice just hearing the sound of the water passing under the tiller
Stay safe and be lucky, mate.
Off to have a salty sand”wich”!
Awesome cruise wow. That was soooo beautiful.
Thank you

It was, but chilly in the morning though.
Blacktorn wood is good to burn and kick off a bit more heat
Right, the chainsaw is coming out!
Posted at 9:30 am Pacific Daylight Time .... :) cheers john
Or 5:30 British Standard Time in old money ;)

Hey, you should try saying it, I had 3 or 4 goes at those!
Wait until you are on a decent straight, get a bit of speed on then turn the engine off for a minute or two.... then check your savings for that hybrid boat!
Nev, I think buying and old nag would be cheaper!

I prefer your original intro music
Beautiful blogging... so peaceful to watch💜
