hope you took that can - put it in some oxalic acid and see how nice it turns out - you will be surprised - if you find large can dumps - I'm willing to swap older dump leads for newer (30s-50s) ones - although I don't know many up in the Berkshires...mostly down by Northampton..Holyoke...Chicopee - -or if there are any dumps for cans you aren't going to be going back to - I'd definitely like to go can digging...

I knew that would liven The Rusty Bunch up....heh heh - I think if you literally just filled boxes with uncleaned beer cans (not just the cone-tops - flat tops too..but from the 30s layers especially) -you can sell a box of "mystery cans" for 20 bucks plus shipping and make a few hundred dollars - of course - you might miss the can that is worth a few hundred (the couple you have cleaned so far are somewhat common) - once in awhile a can gets dug up that is an unknown brand or design - and people go nuts..(beer can collectors are real completists - some of them get way into the weeds with batch numbers and tiny canning codes along the seams)....Ive made more money in cans than bottles...easily (and Ive dug some pretty early pontil-era dumps....I trashed dumps full of cans for years until I met a weird guy at the flea market who told me how to clean cans.....heh) - I do like displaying bottles more...

there are entire city dumps from the same era - easy to get into - 20 feet deep -but they incinerated everything (that destroys the cans)- so ...basically dig all day...hope to get a local milk bottle or two....lots of other dollar junk...cobalt.......can dumps have to be basically private farm dumps where they didn't burn anything......other interesting note - I actually got back into metal detecting (I had dabbled in it as a kid.....with a lousy 1980s cheap White's) - there are guys who scour roadside pullovers for cans using detectors... "scatter dumping".....and I started finding the random coin or button or whatnot.....which led me to buy a Minelab like 20 years ago ...and around then was when I found out about farm fields....and I've done ok...no Pine Tree Shilling yet...lots of coppers and half reales and some more interesting items.....if you ever feel like doing a video down by Northampton - I've got some fields that still produce pretty well......
