  • Cultivated potato (Solanum tuberosum ssp. tuberosum) is the third most consumed crop globally, crucial not just for food but also for animal feed, pharmaceuticals, textiles, and the paper industry. To understand the current state of potato genetic resources, the Crop Trust facilitated an update of the 'Global Conservation Strategy for Potato Genetic Resources.'
This updated strategy aims to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of potato diversity conservation at national, regional, and international levels. It also identifies key priorities for strengthening the conservation and utilization of potato genetic resources.

(Germany) talks about the Global strategy for the conservation of potato and the Plant Treaty.
This video was produced by Sonja Monastyrski (Minerva University) and the Crop Trust, as part of the project “Mainstreaming the Global Crop Conservation Strategies in Plant Treaty Processes”, funded by the German Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture.
