    Angel was spot on. Black men my age in their 30’s and 40’s are just late to the emotional intelligence party. Y’all had a head start. We appreciate y’all patience. Some of us will require a little more but we understand if y’all can’t be there for the process.

      You just made a beautiful statement my brother and I don't wanna take away from that.. but when you said "we understand if yall can't be there for the process." I had the thought that dating outside of our race shouldn't be a problem anymore. If black women are collectively tired of our baggage they shouldn't look down on women who are willing to take the time and build us up.

    I'm going to be honest, the other ZWTH's have been funny and informative but this by far has been my favorite episode. I think especially in this time we as people (black, white, any race, shape, size or gender) we all have growing to do and understanding to do. The only way we can grow and evolve is to learn from each other. These type of conversations are my absolute favorite and as a man I realize that if I want to love and respect women the right way then we as men have to learn from THEM not other men.

    • @johnellclay4917
      @johnellclay4917 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @Ernest Ward I know you and some others will take my message as a pandering or "simp" message but I'm being completely honest and that is completely your opinion on whether or not these exact women may be the ones to listen to but that shouldn't take away from the fact that men should learn from women period

    • @johnellclay4917
      @johnellclay4917 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      If that's your stand, then I'll respect that

  • @maybewise

    I think the problem with black men who disrespect black women, is they think they're the only ones who struggle. And black women have enabled this idea by being so indelicate and strong, that it makes black men think "She can take the abuse. I'M the one who's being brought down by the system. She's only educated and has a good job because she's never been through anything". Like no, dude... we grow up in the same neighborhoods. We actually often suffer MORE than you do. A lot of us have just chosen to take control of our lives. But for some reason, you expect us to let you get away with doing the bare minimum.
    They're also enabled by black women DO allow the bare minimum, and think that the only kind of genuine love is struggle love. Some women are just so misguided, and desperate for love. It's sad and confusing.
    That's why I'm not actively looking for anything serious until I'm 30. I'm not wasting my youth on anybody. My 20's are what I'm using for personal growth and development. So when I step out on the scene, I can afford to be picky. I can be WORTH a dude who checks all my boxes. I won't have any reason to believe any one dude is the best I can ever do, and that I'll just have to settle for his baggage and shortcomings. Because I'm enough on my own. So I'd rather BE alone than be with a guy who holds me back. I don't understand why that's so hard for some females to understand. Like, get some self-esteem, and don't be afraid of dating up.

    • @ExistNNature
      @ExistNNature 4 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      Right! We struggle because we have to wear so many hats. We are not animal rescue..We ARE TIRED TOO!!!

    • @thisdudeandhiswife8108
      @thisdudeandhiswife8108 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@ExistNNature y'all do get stuck with too many hats.....and that's both unfortunate and often uncalled for.
      @Remy Mafia I don't disagree with the large majority of what you said. I really only disagree with the idea that you suffer MORE. I believe you suffer differently, often with things that don't directly effect us, much as we often suffer from things that don't directly effect you . And there are various reasons I can attach that to it, none of which was created by either of us.
      I ain't saying "yo, y'all gotta help us to understand". And I appreciate the stance you both have taken. You are not animal rescues, daycare centers, stepmothers, sex dolls(unless you are into that), servants(see previous parenthetical), and neither should you be settling for less than your worth dictates or your standards require.
      Blessed day to you both.
      Edited to add the words "directly effect you".....because sleep is the cousin of death and I don't really pump with either one of them like that.

    • @maybewise
      @maybewise 4 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      @@thisdudeandhiswife8108 I said we "often" suffer more. Not that we automatically do. Because black boys/men don't fear or experience sexual abuse as much as we do. And on top of that, we often push our pain aside in order to sympathize with the black man's plight anyway. I see more black women defending black men than they do each other.
      You're right that we might just suffer the same amount, but differently. To say that we suffer "more" is treating it as a competition. But I'm mainly referring to black men who dismiss even the POSSIBILITY that black women are just as traumatized from the hood as they are, and act like they're frustrated and broken for no reason, while expecting sympathy for themselves.

    • @maybewise
      @maybewise 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Ernest Ward Don't gaslight me into thinking I'm gonna be chopped liver by time I'm 30. XD With good looks, a submissive attitude, no baggage, and great connections in both the science and business communities, I doubt I'll have trouble finding a dude who's worth a darn. And if I don't, it's not the end of the world, because I have my own ambitions, and friends who like to take care of me just because I'm a pleasant person. I don't have reason to rush. 30's only the new 50 for chicks who rushed, and wasted their time with struggle relationships all their lives. So they're bitter, worn, and probably baby-mommas by that time. And I'm not emulating these women who haven't yet figured out that acting like ladies and being treated like ladies goes hand in hand. I don't know where you got that from.

    • @elzorarobinson8458
      @elzorarobinson8458 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @Ernest Ward You sound like the type of nasty dusty she's talking about. And you don't have a profile pic either. 🤣
      She said "black men who disrespect black women". Not "All black men".
      But that comment about her getting "ran through", lets us know why you identified with that. Believe it or not, black women can be appreciated just for being nice and intelligent. I became friends with mostly older, generous, professional couples, through my work with non-profits.
      Never had to open my legs for a favor, but got plenty of them. Don't hate, just because you can't understand why people would be nice to black women they aren't f'ing. Get out of that mentality. Then maybe you can grow.

Like I’m supposed to wait for you to experience all kinds of life and then have me stay right here for it all. Like why me. But now I see I am that chick that men want when they are ready. This was an important conversation. And I love the diverse perspectives, even though I didn't agree with all of them (particularly Angel's), but its good to hear from everybody. It's an interesting duality to give off the "strong black woman" vibe, when you really want to be treated like a lady. That's why I never show my frustrations in public. Whether I'm at work or in school, I give off a lady's vibe, so I'm treated like one. 🤷🏿‍♀️
    And it's so stupid that some men question whether or not they should be respectful towards women they're not attracted to. Like what the..... ? Don't be a manchild, only seeing women as orifices.

    • @tybooskie
      @tybooskie 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      If you have to be pleasant at all times regardless of how you actually feel to garner respect; then you are not truly being respected. You are being tolerated. I don't code switch for white people; I'm certainly not doing it for men. You seem to equate "stong" with bitchy or bad attitude.

      @@tybooskie You should be respected regardless. I'm talking about being treated like ladies. Strength is great. But it could discourage men from thinking you need any help, or even WANT them to be chivalrous, because it makes them think you'd probably snap on them for acting like gentlemen. I don't think this is the right mentality to have. But it's just the way it is. I'm naturally delicate acting. And while it got me bullied and taken advantage of, as a kid, I find it advantageous, as an adult. Because if I need guidance or help, there's always someone willing to assist, sometimes before I even ask, because people like helping women who are more pleasant. 🤷🏿‍♀️

    We equally bias to how we treat each other. We kinda remember
    why but still don't properly express the misunderstanding on both parts.

    The crazy thing to me is these dudes grow up with these crazy attitudes raised by women.

    That's why I have never dated in my life it's not serious. What I look like renting company for the night. If I'm with someone I'm 100% with that person and nobody else. Dating that silliest mess I ever heard. I knew my wife in the 6th grade married 23 yrs and counting. How you know after a year or two.

    These ladies thinking too hard if you not naturally a kind person that's never going to show. It's like breathing do people have to tell you to breathe it's just naturally done. I think these men work off the people they're trying to get with. These dudes with these crazy attitudes will not try this with all women that's a lie I know. If they have know chance they not trying.

    Here's the thing. I really don't care about going dutch or paying for a date; especially if it's an event and not just dinner and drinks. However; and I know there are exceptions; the men who at least feel uncomfortable paying for dates seem less likely to be turned off by women who so called "independent." it's the dutch or nothing type of men who really have an issue with women who don't aspire to be "Suzy Homemaker." It's such a weird and ironic dynamic. It's like they are mad at women for wanting to be courted and having aspirations independent of a man.
