Boss rush has a chance to award items you can get from worlds and bosses in the adventure/campaign. For example, if a boss in the story drops gun A, and you fight that boss in rush, you might get gun A. It's very good for exp and materials, too. You'll get loads of corrupted shards and dust and consumables. Basically, is the ultimate end game farming.
If I had made this a year ago, I wouldn't have been able to cover all the classes, boss rush or prisms though. Plus the balance of the game was way different then. I intentionally waited for the third (and last, apparently) DLC
