Roddty in WCW during this era was like a fever dream. He would show up, cut an insane promo, be treated like a mega star by commentary, do some kind of disappointing match and then leave

Damn right! We are so lucky to have wrestling bios. I'm 42 and the Monday night wars was a huge part of my teenage years. When I'm in a retirement home in the future, I want Reliving the War playing on a loop!
Disco could have been so over if they made him like Bob Backlund... Be all "happy" and disco dancing but then just snap in the ring and get crazy and vicious... Then back to dancing with crazy eyes.
According to konnan, Benoit was supposed to be the one who won the match for team piper. However, Nash said "with Rodman we will have so much media attention do we really want this little guy to be one getting his hand raised" so the nwo won and they still did piper and hogan in the cage at halloween havoc.
Honestly, once Rick Steiner had to be removed from Team WCW for the Uncensored main event they should have just tossed John Tenta in as his replacement. I mean, Team WCW wasn't going to win anyway, so might as well play up Tenta joining Team WCW as a way to get back at Roddy for kicking him out of Team Piper. In fact, Tenta would have been a massive improvement over the LITERAL NOTHING that Rick was replaced with! Also, even Luther Reigns deserved better than that travesty of a Nitro segment.
They should have had DDP as a replacement, he comes out after Savage is in the ring, they brawl to the back and both get counted out. Would have made more sense, and helped build toward Spring Stampede
Btw, the guy who would be known in WWE as Luther Reigns was known here as Horseshoe. His hair is literally cut to look like a horse shoe! lol He was a regular on WCW Saturday Night.
Shoutout to Rodman who was winning Titles of his own during this era. Rodman was so good he was taking time off during season to go wrestle etc and still won a NbA championship lol
Did Roddy Piper have some incriminating evidence from someone at the top of WCW? It seems to me like he could come and go and appear at the top of the card with all kinds of rubbish whenever he wanted!!
The main event, as much of a trainwreck as it was, actually gets saved by Sting's descent from the rafters when the broadcast team is seemingly wrapping things up and talking about the next pay per view and then we see and hear a firework.
You put a lot of hard work in to your channel. Just when i need a new WB video one pops up. I dont think i can get in new wrestling but watching your vids gives me the feels. cheers pal Ulster says YEEEOOOO, Brother
I'd argue removing Bischoff from power over taking the titles from Luger and the Giant still makes sense because he also did that to the Steiners after Souled Out. Agree with pretty much everything else though, but I still love this era of WCW. From about Bash at the Beach 96 to Uncensored 97, they put on good to great ppvs one after the other, Souled Out being the exception, though the Ladder match and Tag matches on that event are still great imo.
LOL I remember I was still a 99% Mark at the time.. And I kind of liked this concept of giving "everyday guys" a chance at the big time! Part of me was disappointed when the Horsemen replaced them! That is just me! hahah
An episode of WCW Blunder season 2 I'd like to see is Jake Roberts time in WCW in 1992 which led to that Coal Miner's Glove match at Halloween Havoc. Such a missed opportunity.
I don't know if you heard but Stevie Richards bigs you up in one of his recent youtube videos. Thought you'd want to know. I can try and find the video and time stamp but he basically says he wants you to teach him how to edit videos.
I recall Piper agreed to team up with the 4 Horsemen as Ric was going to be in the team, but it was a ruse by Slick Ric and this would begin his feud with Piper.
I feel like NWO Nitro would be a great topic for blunder. Especially considering how long it took them to actually place new props and the entrance way on live TV
9:15 I'm gonna have to give Wrestling Bios a blunder point. There was no Godzilla 2004. Unless he meant Godzilla Final Wars. Think he meant 2014. Off by a decade my man.
Awesome stuff from Wrestling Bios as always 👍. I was in the middle of rewatching the latest RTW episode and then this gem 💎 was uploaded. Yeah, Uncensored 1997 was....a mess to say the least.
Firstly, fun fact about them scrapping Roddy's Family angle, after he chose to go with the horsemen, Tenta was furious and was flipping tables over, screaming at people, etc. backstage. Also, for the WCW Blunder episode, how about the Hulk Hogan vs Billy Kidman rivalry?
I recorded this show live. And ironic enough, right after this show on the same tape was Over tnt Edge 99. Idk how or why, I think I didn't have an extra available tape. But, that crowd when Sting came out was CRAZY!
I want to see a video about who had the most and worst gimmick changes in WCW. Think BlackTop Bully, Seven, The Shark, The Zodiac, Oz, The Yeti, That 70s Guy, etc etc
It is funny how as convoluted as the main event was, it ending with Sting beating up Hogan sending the crowd into a frenzy tells you just how big that feud was.
Piper was never good in WCW. Imagine wasting money on a way past his prime Piper and throwing him in the main event scene then letting The Giant and Jericho eventually walk
13:11 they basically called all three of those guys jabronis. If I was John Tenta I'd have been heated, like he was not in his prime anymore but he was not near the goon level that those other two guys were.
Oh yeah true, guys did look hella old even though they were relatively young. He was 26 working those main events with Hogan in 1990. Also Arn Anderson has also looked like he was smack dab in his late 40s.@@damonodell9125
The only way the Piper team would have worked if he’d been able to get some old school super stars that haven’t been seen in awhile like Jimmy Superfly Snuka and/or Ricky the dragon Steamboat just to name a few.
I can't express how much joy and memories you've brought me. Tough times have passed, and you were there for every step. Thank you so much!!! Reliving the war has been a big part of it. Perhaps we can do a "Reliving the Mania" and go through all of them? Thank you again, and keep doing what you're doing. You're more awesome and touch more lives than you think. At the end of the day...we all have the jam!
John Tenta deserved better treatment. I think the NWO not keeping the title shot in reserve for when Hogan loses actually makes sense from a storyline perspective actually. The NWO was so arrogant that the possibility of them not having the World Title until the end of time just didn't occur to them.
Imagine wastin' time on that Piper segment when Piper rarely wrestled on Nitro. He could have had a 15 minute match with someone he's never wrestled and possibly have a classic. Instead, we get this.
Tell me what you want to see covered in the final episodes of WCW Blunder!
Unmasking Rey Mysterio (or really you could just do a whole video on every wrestler WCW had that went into bigger things in WWF)
David flair’s 1st year in WCW
I have a vague memory of a Mean Gene vs Mark Maddon in a match on Nirto. Surely that deserves a blunder.
The No Limit Soldiers run
all the constant inside commentery about "hes going off script" or "this is a shoot"
Roddty in WCW during this era was like a fever dream. He would show up, cut an insane promo, be treated like a mega star by commentary, do some kind of disappointing match and then leave
Seriously the man knew exactly what he was doing from a business perspective.
He had a really good match with Bret Hart.
That is the best I’ve ever heard his WCW run explained!
And get paid a lot of money. Salute for getting the bag!
Thats roddys career in a nutshell

Agreed. Cultaholic sucks ass!

10:15 seeing John Tenta always makes me smile. He seemed like a very jovial fellow.
So does ur mum 💯💯🤙🤙🥾🚪🔥🔥
Kinda like Santa 😊
He was a very nice dude.
BC represent my uncle was mistaken for makhan singh all the time used to drive him crazy. he loved when people called him tenta tho lol
The growing main event graphic was an all time great running bit on RTW in the lead up to this match
I was wondering if this match is the cause of that gag.
The WCW Uncensored 97 Main Event Timeline was RTW gold! 😂😂😂
LOL yes! with the ever updating scorecard with about 100 edits! hahaha
I was the only kid on the school bus that thought Team WCW would win.
Yeah, that didn't work for _somebody_ , brother.
Wrestling was so much more fun before the internet era.
Reliving the War has made me re evaluate John Tenta. I didn't think too much of him as a kid but as an adult I appreciate him more.
That's how I feel about Disco Inferno
Right of passage for every wrestling fan to figure out how cool John Tenta really was.
What's crazy to me was that he was only 33 during this time.
Disco could have been so over if they made him like Bob Backlund... Be all "happy" and disco dancing but then just snap in the ring and get crazy and vicious... Then back to dancing with crazy eyes.
@@GiltiatheDarkNightDisco sucks. Earthquake had talent.

From a bussiness stance is comprehesive
For once Nash was right. Why have the rabid looking midget win.
Honestly, once Rick Steiner had to be removed from Team WCW for the Uncensored main event they should have just tossed John Tenta in as his replacement. Horseshu has indeed had peas b'fo
No business like Shu-business!
But has Horseshoe had peas before?
It was "Horshu". His WCW matches happened later in the year (he did wrestle in taped match in May 97 though)
The way WCW threw out the very basics of storytelling during this run is just amusing
It feels like WCW is waay too obsessed with being "unpredictable", even at the expense of good storytelling or continuity
Shoutout to Rodman who was winning Titles of his own during this era. Rodman was so good he was taking time off during season to go wrestle etc and still won a NbA championship lol
Rodman absolutely sucked ass in pro wrestling.
Did Roddy Piper have some incriminating evidence from someone at the top of WCW? It seems to me like he could come and go and appear at the top of the card with all kinds of rubbish whenever he wanted!!
He was just as much an overpaid backstage politician as Hogan.
@@SteelyBuda politician who never won a world title ? Stfu
He was Roddy god damn Piper his name value was earned 10 times over by this time
@@SteelyBudabsurd take
Piper was the FIRST guy/team eliminated AND got the cage match for the title anyway! SMDH.
At least from watching RTW series, Roddy hit a high with Halloween Havoc 96 and just got worse with each appearance after that.

Love this Super Blunder logo taken and inspired by the Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo 😅 Capcom logo!
I still think if Roddy just had Tenta show up as his muscle and back up against the NWO, it would've been a lot better.
They should have kept John Tenta for the battle royal. It was freakin' John Tenta!

I recall Piper agreed to team up with the 4 Horsemen as Ric was going to be in the team, but it was a ruse by Slick Ric and this would begin his feud with Piper.
I remember being so very confused on my couch and talking to my friends about it, trying to understand it.

WCW book a PPV main event epic with every star they have. The blowoff to this is Prince Iaukea retaining the TV title.
Amazing

The aftermath of the main event was AMAZING, and one of the best parts of the Sting-Hogan feud.

Thank you for finally solving the mystery of who TF accompanied Piper when he debuted.

"What are the takeaways here?" WCW went out of business for a reason?
9:14 Just a slight correction from an over-obsessed G-Fan, but Layton Morrison worked on Godzilla (2014), not 2004's Godzilla: Final Wars.
Releasing this just in time for my lunch break makes you a real1
6:56 the least loved member of The Bloodline.
6:52 the OG Reigns
