Congrats on your unicorn find! That Day One Amtrak E8 is super sharp! Never knew about it before. Really like how you included the history and some photos. - Ryan
Looks like you did very well at York this Fall. It was awesome to meet you there and I really appreciate the follow on IG! Keep up the great work on your new, incredible layout!
You have an awesome layout, good selection of engines, and great enthusiasm for the hobby! And those Amtrak E8s do look slick and that black is a nice change from the typical schemes for Amtrak. Great find!
congratulations! and it's a nice find, and a great video. we missed being at York this fall but I was able to get some much-needed work done on the layout!
I'm glad U found one of your bucket list loco sets, and added bew items to your collection. Menards did come out with a new Custard/ ice cream stand that could work on your layout
Enjoyed the video and meeting you at York. Thanks for the little history lesson on those E8's Never saw those or knew about them. I know the excitement on finding something you were looking for for some time.
RJ it was great meeting you and Chris and congratulations on the E8s it was my only locos I was looking for at the show so if anyone finds another set for sale please let me know they look great!
Incredible score on those Amtrak E8's RJ! Well done! Well done indeed! And what a great idea with those new LIRR cars you've gotten, a STEAM EXCURSION! There hasn't been one on the LIRR since the 1950s! Maybe you'll give them an idea? Hey, I made a little score of my own at the Gryzboski's booth, an Atlas steam era Grand Union billboard boxcar! I remember the old Grand Union supermarket chain and knew the Atlas cars existed but every time I saw one the price was more than I was willing to pay. Gryzboski's had it priced right so home it came. I didn't really have any "Holy Grail" items in mind for this trip but I did get some good stuff that'll fit the collection just fine. I won't bore everyone with the details. It made my day meeting you at the TH-cam "seminar" and I enjoyed our chat tremendously. I hope the feeling's mutual. It was a good day indeed! Thanks for posting!
Great video. And, yes, I feel the same way when I drive into NJ 😂 Nice picks from York! Your videography of the Amtrak consist with the new locos was the best. Nice to see the ChooChoo Barns mobile layout... the new owners are moving the main location... just hope it retains all the charm of the current one. Listened to some of the podcast, and was good getting to know your back story a bit. Keep going!
Thanks! I didn't know the Choo Choo Barn was moving locations, seems like they are in the perfect location right now... wish nothing but the best I have fond memories of that place as a kid.
@rj.trains i heard that the original owners retired not too long ago. The Bespoke Brewery took over much of the one side of the building where Isaac's Deli used to be. I think they may be looking at updating and expanding the ChooChoo layout in a new place to be built near the Toy Train Museum up the road. Question: have you ever seen the layout on the second floor of the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania? It's one of the reasons I live volunteering there. Stay good (I was gonna say stay on track, but that sounded lame even for my standards).
So glad u got an e8 in your collection, def a must have in any collection, whenever it is mth, lionel or Atlas. Got my Atlas Phase 1 E8s from Just Trains of Delaware at the Greenberg Train Show.
@rj.trains funny you mention it, I got both of them. E8 #203 the powered and #407 the non-powered one. For a ridiculously good deal since the owner of JTOD knows us well so he gave me a great deal on them. I know his name but I wanna keep it anomalous.
I asked Nassau to offer the former EL tavern obs made in LIRR to match the set you have. I also have these Lionel cars and want the obs car. Lionel has this tooling. Nice job on repainting the Menards Amtrak station. I did the same thing.
If you posted about repainting the Menards Amtrak station on OGR, I 100% copied your idea haha. The LIRR EL Tavern would be nice, I know the passenger car custom run quantities from Lionel are insanely high though. I would just like a red striped car haha
@@rj.trains Thats great! Yes thats me on OGR. Very happy to see the station on your layout! My project for tonight is placing mine on the layout. Enjoy your videos! Thats what Nassau told me about the passenger car costs also.
Hey man it was great seeing you! Unrelated to trains, since your family has an ice cream obsession have you ever been to Krisch's of Massapequa? It's been open for decades and it's some of the best I've ever had. You should try it if you haven't already. Their food isn't bad either.
9:32 and 11:19 - Your house is going to sink under the weight of everything that you're getting! I'm looking forward to hearing about your trip to Germany!
The best train show, is the one I skip and save the entry fee to use to actual buy something with sane pricing off the market place vs. insane vendors!
Really like your camelback. I have one but it has no lettering and no numbers. That is a story I don’t like to tell on line. Sorry I didn’t get to see you . We there most of the day Friday. Even doing the blackout.
Congrats on your unicorn find! That Day One Amtrak E8 is super sharp! Never knew about it before. Really like how you included the history and some photos. - Ryan
Thanks!
Thanks for the shoutout RJ! Glad I could give it to a fellow baseball fan!
Of course! Thanks again and it was great meeting you!
Thanks for taking the time to show us your York haul, RJ! The models of Amtrak's first diesel locos is a real coup! A real presence on any layout!
Thanks for watching!
Great seeing you. Thanks for the shout out. Looks like you got some nice additions to your collection.
Great seeing you too!

You dog. lol. I have been looking for that Amtrak e8 set for about as long as you. Love it congrats. New layout looks fabulous
Haha sorry for finding it first.
RJ very happy for you to find those Amtrak E8s!! They are awesome!!!
Thanks!
Beautiful haul. Love the Amtrak, thanks for the info.
Thanks for watching!
Nice to see your enthusiasm,
Thanks!
What a great train meet. I have been attending this York show since 1981.
Wow! I am sure it has changed over the years
I understand the ice cream stands. Our layout is served by many.
Awesome!
Thanks RJ. Another great vid.
Glad you enjoyed it
I love your sarcasm! This was a fun video. Great seeing you at York!
Thank you Tony! It was great seeing you too!
So glad u got an e8 in your collection, def a must have in any collection, whenever it is mth, lionel or Atlas. Got my Atlas Phase 1 E8s from Just Trains of Delaware at the Greenberg Train Show.
That’s awesome! I’d love to buy the unpowered atlas unit to run with these Lionel ones!

Great vid 👌 That Amtrak set is awesome and unique! Great find
Thanks!
Great find! Bummed i couldn't make it to York due to work obligations
Next time!
So admire your dedication, long drive - wow!
I feel so fortunate to only live 30 minutes away from York.
And yep it is the best train show!!
I wish I was only 30 minutes away, would make everything a lot easier haha
Thanks for the video RJ. I need to get back to York next year.
Nice York pickups!
Thanks! It was great to see you!
Happy for you engines look great

It was great seeing you too! I was there once, many years ago. Although as a Suffolk County resident I try to avoid Nassau at all costs haha
@@rj.trains 😂 Unnecessary roughness; 5 yards
Nice York train haul
And nice video congratulations on Amtrak e8 locomotives they’re really nice
Thank you very much!
Your welcome
9:32 and 11:19 - Your house is going to sink under the weight of everything that you're getting!
I'm looking forward to hearing about your trip to Germany!
Haha I hope it doesn't sink! I don't plan on doing a video about my trip but maybe I will do a live stream and it can be a topic I discuss.
You should go to the Amherst train show at the Big E in East Springfield, MA. Late January!
Plan is to get to the Big E this January for the first time!
Great video!!!
Thank you!!
Nice intro RJ, Sorry I could not make it due to some medical issues but I will be there in April (I hope).
It is alright! Hope to see you in April!
Get find. So happy for you.
Thank you!
The best train show, is the one I skip and save the entry fee to use to actual buy something with sane pricing off the market place vs. insane vendors!
Yea that is a lesson I should learn too haha
Really like your camelback. I have one but it has no lettering and no numbers. That is a story I don’t like to tell on line. Sorry I didn’t get to see you . We there most of the day Friday. Even doing the blackout.
Thank you! I like them so much I own two, and looking to maybe add a couple of more haha.
This looks great. Did you see any circus/carnival train stuff?
I feel like there is always a ton of circus/carnival train stuff for sale at York.
Sorry about baseball. I’m watching your videos and sending it to friends so they can make the pain less bad 😂
Well thanks for sharing the video, the dang Mets....
April York we want RJ on the panel!!!!
I don’t think I’m famous enough haha.
Jealous of the Viewliner. Nice grab.
I only need two more to recreate the Lake Shore Limited...
Are you coming to the train show in Raleigh? Would be sick to meet you
Unfortunately I will not be. Hope you find some good stuff
Last famous words from any train modeler " I will not spend any money at a train show"
I knew that would come back to bite me, but never did I think I was going to find those E8s!
@@rj.trains Agree they are awesome RJ glad you found them
Seems you left the DC area?
Yes I left the DC area a few months ago for a work opportunity
I think Lionel made Amtrak rainbow years passenger cars
Now you must find them
I believe I saw Bill Henning running them
They just announced some in the new V2 catalog, although I really like how it looks with the all Amtrak Phase I consist
😎
0.15 Resistance is futile….
I should have used that haha
You didn’t have to do jersey like that
You abandoned Jersey
@@rj.trains 😂 for good reason
I had that engine but I sold it because I thought it was an ugly paint job. No offense, just didn’t care for it
Different people like different things!
NO, not the best in fact not even average. Three rail is very old school.
That third rail in the middle is just waiting for mow crews to come and replace one of the outside rails!
Unfortunately I am a flyer. As American flyer or s helper or American models
There is also a lot of S Gauge at the York train show
@rj.trains i just don't want to drive that i have a spree in for the s gauge
Awesome 🔥🔥🔥
Thanks 🔥
