This video just randomly popped up into my recommended. I had no idea that one of the people who made my childhood so great would end up with this kind of channel. It was a nice surprise

I see this talking this farther into your life and making more really cool projects like this and I can’t wait to see the community u create. I also really appreciate the fact that despite your mistakes you keep pursuing these big project that I have never really seen before and I can tell you love making.
I remember meeting Bryan at LAX a few years ago, back in around 2019. He had broken his wrist and was still carrying around his baby in his baby chair. Really cool guy.
17:08 Omg that’s the Dope or Nope Guy!! I had literally no idea you were brothers!! (Had to double check and still can’t believe it). That’s really cool, I used to watch him all the time and it’s nice to get that brain blast of nostalgia from a new channel that I like :)
This channel not only makes me happy to still see Joey, Brian, Matt, and many others, but also gives me a sense of inspiration to really follow my passions not matter the mistakes and failures that I will face. I absolutely love this way of showing the thought process and even simple mistakes. Thanks so much for this type of gift, this channel, love to all.
I love the relationship between brother in laws still work beautifully across the world😂😂 I’m the same way with my older brother in laws. As the youngest sibling of 7, and the 2nd son, it’s fun to have my older brother and 5 brother in laws to hang around and chill with, all in the same way. Love to see how both of you talk, hangout and chill, the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree when it comes to love, banter and randomness 😂😂❤
I know it's for the video, but requiring perfection to call yourself a maker just isn't right, or healthy. It isn't about making everything perfect, it's just as much about the process as it is the result. Kinesthetic learning can be an amazing thing (and expensive) and you end up with wildly different makers as a result. We are the sum of our experiences, after all. I really enjoy watching your process and I'm glad you have continued making videos. I am not a woodworker, but I feel like I learn more about my own processes by watching others. The way you are open about the mistakes you make and the efforts you make to fix or minimize those mistakes feeds into my own making processes. Really enjoy these videos, keep it up!
I like this comment so much… my entire career I’ve had coworkers ask me why I “announce” my mistakes… I’ve always wondered… why not? i cant belive i stumbled upon this video not realizing that this is one of the dudes that fuled my childhood almost a decade ago on Team Edge until he mentioned it and then my brain exploded

Don't beat yourself up. The act of making IS learning through failure. It is impossible to make anything without stumbling your way through unforeseen mistakes and oversights. Ask any maker and they'll tell you the same thing. Nobody has made anything without making mistakes along the way. You are a maker, no doubt about it
It's admirable how you really use this platform to share the gospel! Loved the scripture at the end, I needed to hear that today, you have a great heart for God!
these guys were a big part of my childhood. this video just stumbled upon my recommendations and i clicked expecting nothing much, 5 seconds in, i realize that this guy is JFred!! i love how i immediately recognized it was him and got so happy that he's doing his own thing now. glad to see these team edge guys still talk and interact out of their chanel. keep up the good work, guy!!!
Great job! You can extend the size of your router base with a sheet of acrylic to keep it referencing both sides of the gap and be see through. I would also recommend bracing the joint on the rake. Could use more of the 1/8 brass. As you found out the end grain does not glue to long grain very well.
The most fantastic desk I have ever seen in my whole life. I have been watching this channels page every day since the last video waiting for the next one.
Those brass rods could also have helped hold the two pieces of Ebony together. A common technique in Gunpla is to drill two pilot hoels in high stress cinnextions, pass a brass rod through, then glue the two pueces togeher. Might help save another small build in the future.
Love this! As a maker myself (of papercraft items), I really appreciate your transparency about when things go wrong. Social media can make life look perfect, but it's far from that. I like seeing your "failures" and how you overcome them. Thank you J Fred. This is a great video and a great channel. 👍😊😊😊
This seemed very emotionally rewarding for you, I can tell and I’m sure everyone else can as well but you and Brian have a special bond that even blood can’t create. He loves you and you love him and the fact you thought of gifting this to him the entire process of the build also shows your character and love/appreciation you have for him in your life. Congrats on the build and oh yea… its beautiful, I am very jealous I dont have something like this for my self!
Honestly your attitude toward "failure" made me go whittle a little bit before finishing the video. This is very wholesome and I can't wait to see your next build!
12:39 if you ever find yourself in that situation again, you can use ratchet straps. Since the long sides stay inside the ends, it’s a great way to pull them in. I’ve had to use it on longer glue ups that exceed my 5ft pipe clamps.
@ I call it the “Must Hurry” shuffle. We all seem to forget how long 5 minutes is (or 8-10 minutes if TB3) and loose our minds trying to make sure the joints are aligned and tight. Tunnel vision is a killer. Also, we forget that those numbers are ‘open’ (assembly) time. You still have additional time to tighten the joint before it’s too late. I’ve rushed like the hounds of hell were chasing me, gotten done and been like “Oh… I still have 5 minutes”. 😂 From Titebond: Titebond Original has an open assembly time of 5 minutes and a clamp time of 30 minutes at 70°F and 50% relative humidity. Titebond III wood glue has an open assembly time of 8-10 minutes and a total assembly time of 20-25 minutes at 70°F and 50% relative humidity.
That "Wise Man" was definitely apostle Paul writing to the church of Philippi--and the rest of us. He was highly likely inspired by the Ultimate Maker. :) Your gifting this is definitely an act of looking out for your friend. Congrats on your Maker award!
Thought so too. First video I watched was that horrible space underneath his stairs, that one even had such an unnecessary skit where he FaceTimes his friend… I hope this one will be better tho
This is cool and all….but having all that sand exposed on my desk would annoy the hell out of me. I would need it covered by glass or something, but that defeats the whole purpose. 😂
I mean, imperfections aside... It is beautiful, and it is an absolute showpiece! I'm glad you gave it to him, the excitement on your brother's face says it all, that he is more than happy to have such a work of craftsmanship in his office, as he should be~ Excellent work, excellent video
I don’t follow any other craftsman channel on TH-cam and never watch any content like this, yet every time you post a video I find myself putting everything else aside and giving it my undivided attention. This channel is great, 10/10
You are definitely approved your name in my book. Started learning wood working 3 months ago and its funny to see someone else running into the same problems and making the same mistakes I made. Makes you so much more relatable ❤️🙏
WAIT! I followed your channel after being recommended a few videos, becuase I share your passion for creations and christian world view.... You did look familiar but I could not figure out why.... The moment it hit me that your brother is the one and only Matthias, I could not stop smiling! I`ve followed him and his journey through his many channels over the years and now I get to follow you! oh my this was such a nice and pleasant suprise! refreshing and genuinely excited to be here. God Bless you my friend!
Growing up watching team edge and now finding this channel and still seeing Matthias and Bryan and J-Fred really glad that they all stayed in touch together
Not gonna lie you may say impractical but picture after a frustrating game or while waiting for another one you just look at your desk, play with the sand and look at the bonsai tree before being cast into another game that might dampen your spirits. Its amazing :DD
Old fan of the Team Edge channel here. Moved on to watch other CCs. Genuinely clicked on this, thinking that this is just some random youtuber to only have a complete minute roll by once I recognized the goofy smile. Ah Joey, you are a sight for sore eyes!😌
It's nice seeing someone actually make mistakes while woodworking, social media usually potrays people as "perfect" seeing the mistakes not only makes it more real, but mistakes are a good way to learn.
The first thing i said after seeing you was "Isn't he the guy from Team Edge?" And it turned out to be right! I am so glad you found something that works for you. I’m so glad to see you and Matthias even after the devastating ends of Dope or Nope and Team Edge, I used to fall asleep to both of you when I was 12-16 and watch your videos when I was drawing or doing homework, I’m now 18 and I now find myself still falling asleep peacefully to your videos and drawing while watching this, thank you for your white noise and new content J-Fred!! Not even 5 videos on your channel and Ive already watched all videos at least 10 times! CANT WAIT FOR THE NEXT ONE ALREADY!❤❤❤
Your creations may not be the most professional but they are definitely the most creative projects I have ever seen.
IMAGINE SPILLING COFFEE ON TABLE 💀
i cant belive i stumbled upon this video not realizing that this is one of the dudes that fuled my childhood almost a decade ago on Team Edge until he mentioned it and then my brain exploded
The reason I love watching All these shows that you and your friends have put on is because I am permanently disabled I fought cancer for 28 years And the things you do make me want to keep going and Try some try something new By the way I am cancer free now I am now 51 I am now 51 years old and not supposed to be the age of 4God bless you all
When you first said this idea came from your brother, surprisingly, I didn't even think of Matthias. Even though I am a fan of his.
you incorporating your family, or especially your wife, is so very wholesome
Casual built a crazy picture spot to inspire his table
You know it is a great day when Joey uploads the next Man Made video. Let's goooooooooooooo
Let's go!
Don't beat yourself up. The act of making IS learning through failure. It is impossible to make anything without stumbling your way through unforeseen mistakes and oversights. Ask any maker and they'll tell you the same thing. Nobody has made anything without making mistakes along the way. You are a maker, no doubt about it
20:18 I love the shock in Brian's face that you knew this answer! Love it!!!
It's admirable how you really use this platform to share the gospel! Loved the scripture at the end, I needed to hear that today, you have a great heart for God!
IM MY GOODNESS ITS YOU FROM THE MATT VIDEOS AND THE GAMES AND COMPETITIONS i love you
11:15 not only man made, now WoMan Made
Great video and beautiful creation!
We are so glad to see our keycaps on such a beautiful build!
I recently subscribed to this channel after watching office under stairs, subscription was so worth it, I love how the result looks
these guys were a big part of my childhood. this video just stumbled upon my recommendations and i clicked expecting nothing much, 5 seconds in, i realize that this guy is JFred!! i love how i immediately recognized it was him and got so happy that he's doing his own thing now. glad to see these team edge guys still talk and interact out of their chanel. keep up the good work, guy!!!
“I could give it to my cousin Bobby cause…obviously”
🥷
😂😂😂😂😂
Love this! As a maker myself (of papercraft items), I really appreciate your transparency about when things go wrong. Social media can make life look perfect, but it's far from that. I like seeing your "failures" and how you overcome them. Thank you J Fred. This is a great video and a great channel. 👍😊😊😊
22:39 this moment in time earns you the title “Maker”
Woodworking isn’t about being perfect, it’s about fixing mistakes.
I have literally done that before. Why didn't I think of it then lol
From Titebond:
Titebond Original has an open assembly time of 5 minutes and a clamp time of 30 minutes at 70°F and 50% relative humidity.
As someone who both watched Team Edge (and still does
I look at this channel again for the first time in a few weeks, and I find this video was posted 21 minutes ago. Sweet.
Thought so too. First video I watched was that horrible space underneath his stairs, that one even had such an unnecessary skit where he FaceTimes his friend… I hope this one will be better tho
Really dope build and I am glad Brian wanted to keep it. I look forward to you christening your next build with the wood burner.
*using playing cards in a woodworking project also good job
Almost at 1 million in 5 months LETS GOOOOO
This is cool and all….but having all that sand exposed on my desk would annoy the hell out of me. I would need it covered by glass or something, but that defeats the whole purpose. 😂
I mean, imperfections aside... It is beautiful, and it is an absolute showpiece!
I'm glad you gave it to him, the excitement on your brother's face says it all, that he is more than happy to have such a work of craftsmanship in his office, as he should be~
Excellent work, excellent video
I don’t follow any other craftsman channel on TH-cam and never watch any content like this, yet every time you post a video I find myself putting everything else aside and giving it my undivided attention.
This channel is great, 10/10
Totally agree
46:10 if you have a cat don’t let it get there
Is this because cat poop
You are definitely approved your name in my book. Started learning wood working 3 months ago and its funny to see someone else running into the same problems and making the same mistakes I made. Makes you so much more relatable ❤️🙏
Dude I haven’t seen this guy in YEARS. It’s so good to see him doing well. It’s also amazing to see that he still has his faith in God!
always love the naturally concurring potted plants at the beach
please do more things i love this channel :)
Yes I agree 👍
From the first video of him i saw I instantly thought they looked really similiar, know I know why
It just clicked for me too even though I've been watching a while! Haha
What is Matthias's channel?
@@VivaaLaaLyssaa @Dope
It makes me so happy to see you and Bry in a video together again. RIP Team Edge
The most satisfying furniture like a desk is something that has nothing on it.
I just found you today and your already my second favourite TH-camr
You guys are so good together, true friendship is not easy to find.
The first thing i said after seeing you was "Isn't he the guy from Team Edge?" And it turned out to be right! I am so glad you found something that works for you. I am happy you guys realized your views on Team Edge were dropping and decided to stop and move on instead of trying too hard to keep the channel alive.
This is now my favorite video on TH-cam and will be my first woodworking project in years.
Haha I love this
You can't call them failures with that wonderful end result. They're more like stepping stones - it's seriously cool and magnificent.
Bro, I didn’t even know you made the underneath of your stairs into that kool little space. 14:10 When you mentioned it I had to do a double take. I love your vids brother and the fact that you are a God fearing man brings a smile to my face.
I’ve been watching you since I was 15 when you, Matt, and Bryan started team edge. I was subbed even before the first video! I’m now 24. I didn’t really think this channel would be something I would be into but wanted to watch anyways to support you like always. I was pleasantly surprised! You have such creative ideas and it’s fun to see things come together (even through the mistakes lol). I’m so happy for you that you’re getting so much success from this channel so far and I hope that continues. Congrats on what you’ve done so far and I’ll be tuning into future videos like always :)
