Your lessons are amazing, Charlie! You get straight to the nuts and bolts of playing. I've played for 43 years and learned so much from your videos! Thank you so much!

Great ideas here. I’m a bit surprised that playing with a metronome wasn’t one of them. It’s something that really challenging for me and it shows the weak spots in my phrasing and ability to stay in control of what I’m doing. It’s like taking a big step backwards

Great lesson, but what I realized in the first few minutes was that I first have to learn all the notes on the fretboard in order to jump around efficiently to play the notes. This in itself is a daunting task that I feel like I will never learn!

@@hc9987 you can do it!! Choose 1 note at a time and find it on every string….then the notes adjacent to that note….before long you’ll own it! 🎸🎶🔥🎶🎸

Ive realised lately im so guilty of this.. 🥴 ive spent so much time getting the major/ relative minor shapes arpeggios triads to full scale under my fingers it's starting to become more natural but im not pushing myself like i was. I have to find a way of being able to practice to backing tracks without alienating the household lol ideally through headphones.. Great ideas here Charlie! I can see how what you've shared here will REALLY help... Thank you for another great and helpful lesson!!!! Have a great week 😉🙏🕊️✨

@@Owl-qh2rh we’ve got to find a way to make practice fun or we can burn out! Working on phrasing, or just being melodic over a backing track can be a great break! 🎸🎶🔥🎶🎸

Playing a melodic solo at slow tempo's are easy for me. But I don't have many licks. I have great phrasing. I can work the bends but can't alternate pick worth a shit. Don't use many triads, don't use arpeggios. So playing solo's in a band would make me very limited. It makes me feel overwhelmed and defeated.

Using triads and some embellishments and insert the idea of 1st 3rd and 5th as shown in this lesson and adding some notes of minor scale are some of the ways you can try to make solos more appealing I guess. Anyway that's just my thoughts. You can try out other ways you are comfortable with. All the best to you.

If you do a google search and look up
      Joe Garrison N1M
& you'll find three songs that I uploaded.
2 of the three have guitar solo's. but only one of the three have vocals.
      "No Reply"
      "To Many Voices"
Give them a listen and then you'll see my dilemma.
      Peace.. Joe
