That was sooooo cool. Really enjoyed it. Some great views. Loved the aerial views. Stunning landscapes
Really enjoyed the shots of the Reservoir and surrounding area, been a long time! Crazy how low the Reservoir is. Those were some incredible star shots, Cool to see all of the meteors!
Thank you North Coast. I am glad the dark sky designation gave me an excuse to visit.
Awesome. Great shots as always. Also I love the context and geographical overview of the state.
Wow the drought has really hit eastern oregon too, Portland needs to share the rain.😀
Beautiful video Matt. Great shots, and such a special place.
My favorite part about Meteor Showers is the part that they are not flying into Earth or it’s atmosphere, the Earth is plowing into them at 68,000mph.
Carlton Observatory is making an observatory, telescope museum, and planetarium at
Evergreen Aviation & Space Museum. In 3 years or so hopefully.
Thank you. I haven't thought about that, they are the bugs and we are the windshield. Hope they do make more observatories. My fav observatory is Pine Mountain.
Love how dedicated you are to capture these great videos! I too would have to be snacking to stay awake!
It has been getting harder these days with kids in the picture. Lots of coffee!
Another great video Matt. That took some time... thanks for taking us along. t
I really need to visit here before I die. I'd love for my citified East coast grandkids to see what I used to see as a child growing up in eastern Oregon. The skies, especially in winter, are clear and full of stars. Such beauty.
I love it out there. Further away from town the better. Take the kids on an adventure!
Nice work, Matt. This kind of photography is much harder then most people realize. Also, fun fact: the star Vega is what my channel is named after. The star was brought to my attention from the movie Contact back in the late 90’s. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you. Astro is very hard, then putting it into video form even more. Vega I never made that name connection.
Cheetos and stargazing….2 of my favorite things😁 also I didn’t know that about the red light.
I was sitting there munching some cheeto puffs, thought 'ya know what, just relaxing and enjoying the view would make good content'.
Nice one Matt, don't know how you managed to film a piece of your down time while the camera pans post you up into the sky? More Matt Cook Magic! Makes me want to inbox my huge Star Hawk 8" Reflector again. Of the places you've been to in recent years for Star Gazing, which place in your opinion has been best for viewing conditions? The Glendale, WA. Telescope Observatory Station is always a fun trip, ever looked through that mega telescope buddy? Great Job you did, it's hard to imagine how it's possible for you to continue getting better at this craft yet you do. .. Shared. Thanks for the IG Notification Pal, Always so appreciated. .. Ⓜike 👣🐾🍙🌲💜
Thanks Mike! I will keep my movie editing magic to myself otherwise its not magic! I have not been to the observatory. Everywhere outside Oregon is lava! I think the best dark sky is Steens Mountain area. I need to get back out there!
You going to go out for the potential meteor storm on May 30th. Supposed to be around 10pm, might be spectacular
@@MattCookOregon Sadly they were a bust, theory is they were traveling to slow when they hit the atmosphere. Hence a lack of brightness.
What an amazing journey visiting our beautiful sky view at night.
Thanks Jim! It was a blast I just tried my best to show what I was seeing.
