I bought the Superblast very recently. Based on 3 runs (short 8k test, 15k tempo, 28k easy long run), it may be the best shoe I’ve ever bought for marathon training. Nothing compares to it

I'm really pleased with my novablast 4 for their versatility, my speed 3s are still faster. Asics are doing well at the moment but my view is that saucony are doing the best right now. You are spot on about Nike. I had the nimbus 23 and didn't really get on with it. It was almost energy sapping soft to start and after 300 miles the foam went rock hard, like running in breeze blocks!

I have about 30 miles in my NovaBlast 4. It took me about 20 miles to figure out the best way to run in them. It's like driving a car, finding that sweet spot in the gear box when shifting! I came in 3rd in my 60-69 age division in a 5K last Saturday. I plan on using them in my Half marathon in May. So, they can do it all! A great shoe to put in the miles. An all around fun and very comfy shoe! That trampoline affect in the forefoot transitions to an easy toe off is amazing! GREAT SHOE TO DO IT ALL!

I think that Gel Nimbus would be great for total newbies who are a little heavier.
I think a lot of reviewers don't think about the people starting out. The guys and girls who just want to lose weight through a bit of running and have no designs on ever running 10ks or halfs or marathons. For those people comfort and cushioning will be everything.

    • @garthcox4307
      @garthcox4307 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

True but i feel that the nimbus is overhyped and very expensive. I had an earlier version and wouldn't buy them again. Like everyone raved about the nb3 but it wasn't actually that great. I think newbies such as you mention would be better saving their cash and looking at the nb4, saucony ride 17 or new balance 1080.

I have run in cumulus 25, novablast 3, and superblast. Cumulus is the daily trainer of the past. Now it is vastly improved over Cumulus 21; the 25 about 1 oz lighter, 10mm more forefoot stack, and much more comfortable on long runs than the 21. But it feels like the old shoe. I agree that Novablast could be the future of daily trainers, although I think we will see more caregory blurring over the next few years. I did a 16 mile run today in Superblast, and just a great run. Excellent cushion and bounce. At 175 miles they feel very smooth, although they felt a bit slappy during the first 100 miles.

I love my Superblasts and ran the LLHM in them recently. What a glorious shoe. Intrigued about the Novablast 4. I absolutely loved the Novablast 1s and still use them here and there despite them starting to fall apart and having well over 1000 kms in them. Very different in feel to the Novablast 3 which just don't feel as bouncy or fun as the 1's. Would be interested to know which the 4's were more similar to.

Nice, quick and striaght sum up, thank you! :)
How about: Me, ran long time ago, comin back into running, had GT2000 for 15 years, right now a new Novablast 4 TR... want something a little more stable for "long runs" (for me long is like 10km+) with a little stability perhaps, because after the Wings for Life App run (16,8k) the inside of my feet were sore - which NEVER happened before.
So maybe a new GT2000? I did an analysis and my feet are perfectly neutral, not a bis of pronation/supination (testetd with GT2000 12 and Cumulus 26).
I am 90kg and my larger right foot is excactly EU 45,5.
The GT 2000 v12 is stiff a brick! Unrunable! BUT: good thing: because of this i tried forefoot striking instead of heel striking my whole life :)
Now: For the longer runs... If i have a Novablast 4 TR and a Superblast comming, would it make sense to go for something like a Nimbus 25/26? Especially If i struggle extremely to run slow. I naturally speed up to my own rhythm (or the one from a race pace long ago) until my pulse hits the ceiling.
Because the GT2000 v12 is such a brick: GT 2000 v10 + v11 are comming to try them on. Superb price and free shiping + return from Asics Outlet in Austria.
Cumulus 26: Forefoot feels like its resting on a gel pad, but which slopes down to all sides and i feel extremely slippery in the shoe! My foot feels like slipping on ice.
I always struggle to cinch down the shoes to my low volume foot with very low instep (but everything else is normal and healthy, arches, toes, etc, despite tight climbing shoes) and also with the socks: I HATE all this thin, soft slippery stuff. Socks, Upper of the shoes etc. Yes the running socks made out of artificial material are supposed to guide moisture away from your feet, buth those alos make them slippery inside the shoe! And 20 year olf, white 100% cotton sports socks, yeah, but they get wet ;)
How do you do this? I also tryed race lock of course, but that is just a better feeling initially. After 30-45min my feet feel like slipping inside the shoe.
Any solution/advice on that too? :)
    Best regards, Phil

I have about 140 miles on the Superblast and, honestly, I think the differences between that shoe and my Novablast 3's is marginal. It's a good shoe but I expected more bounce and responsiveness. In hindsight, I'd get the Novablast 4.
Part of me wants to try the Evoride Speed 2 though; nobody has mentioned that shoe in the conversation about Rebel v4, Mach 6, etc.

If you can only buy one shoe and want to maximise your running experience regardless of your pace, weight or foot strike then go for Superblast. Costs a bit more but still not that expensive compared to many (most) other hobbies and what their gear costs. Sadly it’s not available very well, but hopefully Superblast 2 will fix the availability issue.

Why is there so much bulk in the Novablast 4 around the heel, reviews say it gets in the way of the run. I could see it been beneficial for heel strikers but your not meant to heel strike for so many reasons like losing momentum and increasing energy use, your meant to strike on the ball of your foot which is a natural spring board. The tri noosa range is the most exciting Asics range with the Novablast range but I don’t like the look of the Novablast 4 because of the unneeded bulk around the heel
