  • Sunday 1/5/25, U054 would operate between Jay and Wales Maine to meet with counterpart train L053.
Upon arrival at Leeds Jct, operating very similarly to how St Lawrence & Atlantic operates trains 393 and 394, the trains would swap crews and continue on. This would result in the crews returning to their origin while also allowing the power on the Rumford branch to be swapped out.
However, CSX does not ID’d trains by origin or destination but by crews. Hence the train we were following (CSX 6004 and MEC 517) became L053 at Leeds Jct, and the train from Rigby became U054. The symbol on what would normally be (L)054 is changed to U as it is a different crew from normal or an “unscheduled” train.
I believe this to be the case every Sunday but I haven’t been around enough to know for sure.
