3d printed air raid siren

- Tried 3D printing another siren, and this one turned out a lot better. The motor is a bit underpowered (although I think it's an issue with my power supply) and it doesn't really get to full speed unless the air intake is blocked.

Finally, an STL that has a ratio that will produce the 'carter' sound. 10/12=5/6 so that will need double the RPM, I make it about 5800 but I'm cool with that.
When you block the top it sounds a Thunderbolt with no blower on level 6
actually reversed blower
chopper 3
Sounds like the Maunalua Bay Thunderbolt
when you cover the intake it sounds almost exactly like f1, v10, v12 engine, just what i was looking for tysm
One more of those sirens and a wiring box boom you got a home made carter siren
there's a difference between a carter siren and a 3D printed 5/6 port siren that looks nothing like a carter.
@@Vyclops same idea was his goal
sounds like a Blowerest Thunderbolt siren
sounds like a carter/ castle castings
😜😂
More like a thunderbolt
Your Grandpa Near You: "Ah Sh*t, Here We Go Again"
From British siren (carter/Klaxon/Castle castings/etc) to an FS Electronic siren.
you can use esc electric speed controller
I printed one at the original size and hooked up one of my old motors from my old electric scooter when I was like 8 years old. The sound was not as loud as I expected because I thought the motor would make it much louder than the one in the video. I am now going to print it at 2x size.
i printed it out it sounds like a thunderbolt so i made a cover like the thunderbolt and printed it out aswell. now all i need are solenoids to get the hi lo sound
Can you upload a video of it?
maybe later tommorow
and if you'd like i can upload the remix of your model
Yes, please do when you have the time. Could you put it on thingiverse?
i planned to put it on thingiverse. in the remix section of your model and give credit to you since you did make the rotor
Currently printing one right now...
That's me on a different acc btw
Thank you very much! You help me to realize a dream!
You forgot to give the all-clear!
If you make a p50 chopper if you cover the top of the chopper it sounds like a sentry
That sounds really cute it sounds like my cat meowing at 6:06PM
The reason it doesn't get up to full speed unless you cover the intake is the same reason a vacuum cleaners motor increases the speed and subsequently the sound frequency when the hose is blocked. Without the resistance of air the rotor can spin freely.
It is advised not to do this on a vacuum cleaner as the motor run the risk of overheating when it runs amok.
This is why the siren gets mostly silent and speeds up when covered. It sucks air in from the big opening on the side and throws it out the slits radially. The movement of the air limits the speed of the rotor. Without the air the rotor spins freely but can't make any worthwhile sound.
I’m printing one at 1 1/2 size.
I'd love to see it when it's done. One thing I am not sure about though is the motor fitting. I designed the stator to fit a certain size DC motor and if it's scaled down it might not fit. You could "fix" it with a few different sized drill bits, though.
Alertec2202 I’m going to mill a shaft to fit in the rotor, and a bearing mount for where the motor would’ve mounted.
Okay, it works, it’s just that the bearings don’t like it.
Can you take a video?
Alertec2202 sure.
Cool! I 3d printed this model and it worked just need to buy the motor for it, I'm using that link to the motor in the description of it in Thingiverse.
I printed this also. I used a Thomas Trackmaster Motor. The Only Major Issue I’m having is it is Rattling. Any Idea on how to fix that?
You have it perfectly tune for a stuka wwii plane, too much high pitch is not realistic, this is the best one i have heard soo far thank you for the 3d file
That's pretty cool, when I made this I had no idea it could be used for something like that.
@@Snowcube how do you hold the siren to not come off the motor shaft?
@@bullitanaconda The part that spins is just held on by friction and it has to be pressed onto the shaft. If it's too small, try drilling it out partially with a drill bit of similar size (Don't go too far though or you'll make the hole too big).
Nice ACA style rotor/stator
Sounds like a thunderbolt 1000t without a blower
Kinda sounds like a tbolt
Not, exactly...
More like a mis powerd cyclone
@@Tommy-pv1vh sounds nothing like a cyclone, more like a blowerless thunderbolt
sounds like a 5/6 port thunderbolt 1000T
I 3D Printed this Exact Rotor and Stator. I made it Silver.
Is that loud?
Yes, but not as loud as I would like it to be.
use only one output hole and attach a blower to it
0:21 turns it into a plane engine
How do I keep on finding you

my computer when I run minecraft
I'm curious will you revisit this siren design & make 2/3, 3/4, 3/5, 4/5, 6/7, 5/8 & 4/8 models?
Is like a thunderbolt siaren
Sounds like a thunderbolt 1003 and i don't have 3d printer:(
make a mini thunderbolt out of that
This is really nice, im planning on ordering this printed, but im not sure how I should design it, it gives me options like "Infill", "Layer Thickness", and "Material", what would you use for printing? I dont have a 3d printer.
This was printed with a 15% infill, layer thickness was .3mm, and material was copolyester. You could probably use PLA or ABS, though.
How do you order 3d prints
Lytle Park in a nutshell:
Hello ThunderBolt
can you put this on a bench grinder?
Like A Thunderbolt 7000 Siren Or Lion King Signal Signal 2001 Siren Like Federal Signal 2001 Siren Maybe ASC E-CLASS Siren
I hooked up a ccouple of these and i scare the neborhood kids with it lol. My psu sucks so my motor pulses on and off for 15 seconds before it gets to full speed
What sort of motor should I use for it?
How did you make the siren can you show a video of it how you build it
I'll make a tutorial video when I have time. ☺
Ok
This is great - are you selling them per chance? Was looking to find a WW2 UK-style, 2-tone "Moaning Minnie" but they just don't seem to exist here.
As of right now I'm not selling these, but I do have the files for 3D printing provided in the description along with a motor recommendation.
Port ratio
5/6
It sounds like a thunderbolt 1000t
Nope it sounds like a mis powerd aca cyclone
Well the siren has a 5/6 port ratio just like a Thunderbolt. And judging by the lower pitch similar to a Carter, it runs on 50 Hz
What size screws do I need for the motor
M2.5x5 or x6 should work
is it 5/6 port?
Correct.
@@Snowcube oh, where is it now?
@@rebe3735 It got broken but I still have it for some reason.
@@Snowcube oh, ok and nice video btw
Hey there - I tried to edit this in TinkerCAD for a 5MM motor as thats all I have and it seems the mesh goes a little whack and ends up with a bunch of holes/gaps...Could you please make a 5MM hole version?
How do you assemble it
You push the motor into the hole for it, then push the rotor onto the motor shaft. You might have to drill out the hole a bit to make it fit.
what motor is this (rpm, power)
W hats the port ratio?
5/6
Alertec2202 well you did an awesome job
Shoda gone 9/12
This is cool. But what to do with such a sirene?
It's just mainly a toy.
Blast it on New Years eve
Can you give me the link to the motor you used?

Snowcube thank you that just helped me a lot!!!
I am going to try to make a mini 1003 siren using your chopper design. it will take a couple months, I am going to make a blower and RCM and the main siren also it will rotate!
How much would you want for it?
hes not selling it lol
@SirenTube what
What's the port ratio?
5/6
@@Snowcube ok
Sounds like its running on 50Hz lol
