When I was in college more than 50 years ago, I took a young lady to a theater to see "Breakfast at Tiffany's". We both loved the movie and the song, "Moon River". That young lady became my wife, and we were together for 58 years before she passed. Your cover of the song brought back wonderful memories, and I am forever your fan.
My condolences, my friend. My wife and I are at 52 and counting. Thank God I still have her and I hope we can reach your record. Only people like us can understand what kind of deep relationship develops over half a century and more.

The original artist for Moon River was actress Audrey Hepburn, who could carry a tune but she wasn't a singer. Henry Mancini specifically composed the melody to have about an octave range to make it easy for her to sing in the 1961 movie Breakfast at Tiffany's. A few years when she starred in My Fair Lady, 1964, all her singing parts were dubbed by Marnie Nixon, who also provided the voice for Deborah Kerr in The King and I, and Natalie Wood in West Side Story.

Andy Williams is the first person who I heard sing this song. And, it is difficult to compare perfection to perfection. In other words, I think both Andy and Lucy sang this song perfectly!
