Hello André, these are nice and mostly clear catches, this little Raddy radio seems like a very decent performer indeed. I hope that Santa will have read my list to him. If so, I'll have one of these in my hands a week from now 😁 Always nice to hear how low a noise floor you enjoy having at your home. Lucky you. I listened to the All India Radio twice and despite my ears being far from what they used to be, I can tell you with a good level of confidence that they are not speaking French, buddy. And if they do, that would be with such a thick accent that I can't make out a word of what they were saying!
I wish there were more shortwave broadcasts similar to All India Radio. Listening to it is a delightful experience; it offers an exotic and unique perspective that is distinctly Indian, all while remaining free from political and religious propaganda that pollute the airwaves. I don't want to be told what to think, especially nonsense divorced from reality. I just want to hear news from distant countries and be entertained by their unique music.
Great catches you've just find, Andre! 😃. Radio Free N. Korea is also on 11535 KHz fron Tashkent trnasmitter site, along with another station called "Radyoya Denge Gel".
Thanks Andrew. Thanks for the tip about Radio Free North Korea on 11535 kHz. I have heard Denge Gel around there for sure (they keep changing the frequency, 5 kHz up or down), but I haven't heard Free North Korea on that frequency yet.
The weak signals sound like they were beamed towards another part of the world, Andre. Take CRI and CGTN Radio for example. Their signals originate from the same transmitter sites in China, but not all of them are aimed at my QTH. I get a very strong reception when the frequency is aimed towards Southeast Asia, while other times of the day I would pick up weaker CRI broadcasts that are targeted at Southern or East Africa, Europe or Oceania. So what I'd do is to tag the frequency as "CRI Oceania" when I store the frequency into my ATS-25's memory. This helps me to remember which CRI frequencies are meant for which part of the world. 😀🌍📻
That's most likely the case yes, I think most of the weaker signals in this video are not beamed my way. But even some of the stronger ones are not, for example WBCQ is beamed towards Europe at this time. I should actually indicate in my videos what the target area is for some of the signals. Like CRI, I receive their German, Albanian and other European language broadcasts quite clearly sometimes. Good idea to store the CRI signals the way you do :-)
Hi Andre they all seem to be coming in nice and clear is this radio a new addition to your collection I've read the volume is loud even on 1 is this correct, I've received my Tecsun PL-880 I nearly ordered pl-990x but after scrolling dozens of review videos went for my first choice it is swings and roundabouts with both but for just Bluetooth and SD card that cant even record from radio that to me is a deal breaker will let you know what I think when I've experimented cheers...
Hi Stephen, yes, it is a fairly new addition. I got it some weeks ago, I have only made a few videos so far with this radio. It really is a very nice little radio at a very reasonable price. Congratulations on the PL-880! I can't wait to hear your feedback.
Stephen, sorry, I did not reply to your question about the volume. It is very loud indeed, even when the volume is set at 1. And the sound is very bright, a bit harsh, to my ears. But crystal clear.

I agree with you, All India Radio is a really nice listen. And very exotic music! I do enjoy Radio Romania also.
