    Would love this to dummy proof church musicians, each moment is critical in any show and this is a great way to have confidence in this distracting area.

    I have used these in musicals for several years now, perfect if they need to unplug a guitar when there is no time to get my attention.
    Yet to have one fail on us.
    And both as I am outside the US, and the fact someone might need them more than me, I am not needing one :)

      Thanks for the message & I appreciate the heads up that you're not in the US! Good to know they've lasted well for you, I'm interested now to know how they've lasted for other folks who are really using them. Have a great weekend.

    Truly an innovative new product and solution to a problem many musicians face. I'd use it particularly to avoid hearing that crackle screeching noise when switching cable from the electric to the acoustic guitar or pedals at church and such. My monster cable plugs have failed, I can replace them with these.

    Great video. Thank you. I have been sitting on one that I bought and this made me pick it up and grab the soldering iron. The advice on the importance of measuring the cuts was the most critical piece that is left out of all the other videos ! ! !
    It truly was the thing that was keeping me from connecting the plug ; MILLIMETERS COUNT !!!!!
    Thanks again and if the first one goes well I’m going to change all my cables.
    I won’t keep “silent” about this video.
    Dennis

    These look great, thanks for the tip. When I'm not mixing sound myself I play acoustic guitar at my church, and when timings are tight it can be tough to catch the eye of my sound guy to get muted to unplug, so I'd love to get one of the right-angle ones to make up a silent cable for myself.

    I've liked those in my band, until sudenly dropping end of cable on the floor, which lead reed switch to break instantly. 2 silent plugs survived for 2-3 yrs so we returnes back to standard "noise" plugs from Neutrik.

      @DcSoundOp  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's great feedback, did you reach out to Neutrik at the time about it? How hard are we talking about these getting hit for that to happen? Might be time to break the hammer back out for some percussive testing next here week...

    I have a guitar player in worship that constantly rips his cable out before switching to the tuner or before I can mute. I would love to add this to his rig. Thanks for the video.

    Hey man I enjoyed the video and just purchased a Mogami Overdrive cable with the Silent Plug. Lately I’ve been been. Trying to learn more about assembling and I’d love to give it a shot to make my own cable. I have a soldering iron and every tool to make it with if you give me a shot that’d be a fun project and I’d appreciate. Thank you for the video regardless of the winners.

    This would be a tech's dream! Do ya have one for the mic's as well? Can you imagine plugging in the monster mic used for the harmonica? Bet this would settle that rumble right down! :)

    A friend has a Washburn bass that has a 9v powered preamp inside of it. And instead of using a 1/4 inch mono T-S jack with a switch built into it, it was built using a T-R-S stereo 1/4" jack that they wire the 9V to for switching when you plug in a cable. So when plugged in, the 9V gets applied across the micro contacts inside the silent plug and essentially arc welds them together. I destroyed 3 of these silent plugs before I finally figured out what was causing it. Moral of the story: Don't use these on a washburn with a 9V battery. Note that this doesn't happen on my taylor guitars, so they must use a true switch mono jack instead of hacking a TRS jack to do the power switching.

      Yeah, not sure when this happened, but they have pretty big ATTENTION warnings on their site, the product listings and the packaging for these now, telling you to avoid this exact situation. Sorry you had to go through that before figuring it out, that must have been interesting.

    I need this because my church guitarist is constantly unplugging because he breaks strings daily. Sometimes I’m adjusting video camera and miss my mute and he unplugs to continue playing elsewhere.

    I'm a bass player and could definitely use a SilentPlug in my rig while I'm on stage "slappin' da bass". Cheers from the Great White North!

      Super glad you messaged Lou, I'm not sure it made it into the final version of the video, but these don't work with certain active systems. Not sure if you're an active or passive slapper, but glad you brought up basses and reminded me about that! Have a great weekend!

      @@DcSoundOp not much of a slapper these days, but I do play both active and passive basses. Cheers!

    What could the issue be if the mixer line is muted, but it still pops when my guitar is unplugged or I step on my muted tuner pedal?

    • @DcSoundOp
      @DcSoundOp  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That's a strange situation for sure. It sounds like you might have a static discharge situation going on... do you notice any static shocks on stage when you touch things otherwise?

    Wait 1000 mating cycles? Thats it? That's not a lot

    • @DcSoundOp
      @DcSoundOp  ปีที่แล้ว

      "Rated to exceed 1000 mating cycles' doesn't mean it will spontaneously combust on cycle 1001. Also, reed switches are incredibly reliable and will typically function well past their specified life since they are sealed from outside dirt and debris. Ultimately these aren't for everyone, but even if you trash one per year (gigging every single day and using two cycles per gig), at under $20 it's still a pretty fair value if you need it in my estimation.

    • @DcSoundOp
      @DcSoundOp  ปีที่แล้ว

      You're looking to make the actual plug yourself? I wouldn't know where to begin trying to engineer a reed switching into a connector like this.. certainly not for less than $13.

    You better take a 💵 deposit💵 off the musician because he won't return it.

    • @DcSoundOp
      @DcSoundOp  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I used to keep a sparkly silver guitar cable in the kit to loan out to forgetful musicians. It was actually a really high quality cable, but it was pretty obnoxious looking under stage lights so nobody ever wanted to keep it 😭

    • @dwmfty3111
      @dwmfty3111 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I normally cable tie them to the Di.
      1 short one into the amp and one long one for the musician.
