Two of my favorite living people, speaking in the year I was born. Just as relevant today.

Substitute Iraq for Viet Nam and Bush for Reagan and China for the Soviet Union and this talk suddenly becomes contemporary.

Noam has slowed down, I mean naturally one would in late stage life, so much. However, he's not lost a bit of his pointedness in his arguments. I will miss him like a family member when he passes on to the next phase of existence. It will be a very sad day for me indeed.

He’s a very singular person who will be impossible to replace when he goes.

A most amazing and current dissection of how the elites have circumscribed their own understanding by failing to analyze the terms of the discussion. Hence, the elites failed to anticipate Trump, and hopefully Bernie, who introduces Noam Chomsky.

It's about thought control by the elite or elites. In the old days, thought control was the task of the church, now it's done by the elites. Would a society where no consent is created be a better one? Would such a society even be possible to survive in the long term? I doubt it. Of course some societies are opener than others, but that is a quantitative, not a quallitative issue.
