This is what I call a Dragons Den pitch! The famous narrator! Real business questions! Great negotiation! The new series is very lame with all this rainbow influence 🤦♂️
Maybe he is, although this particular deal was never signed because they apparently found Tej's terms "too restrictive". There goes the reality check I guess.
I'm no businessman, in fact i'm a bit of a dunce when it comes to the complexities of business, but i would have taken up Deborah & Peter Jones offer like a shot.
Yeah I mean Tej has the health side but those two had worked in the cereal sector so it made sense. A little extra percentage for the right experience is not a bad decision
Everyone else in the comments is amazed they didn't take Peter & Deborah's offer, when health food is literally Tej's industry 😂 I was watching this like "it's either Tej or NO ONE"
@Travel Crawl Don’t really fully agree with you. This is Tej’s bread and butter, he is the guru of health supplements. Anyway I think they wouldn’t have gone wrong either way.
and yet if you look at where are they now, the dragon's den offer (programme aired in 2019) was rejected by them before the payment was made and they chose instead to go on their own with "external funding" without having to "pay" for it using equity. The company is now well established and is in the supermarkets and surviving there, so the Dragoons were correct in their assessment of its potential, but to too greedy with their offers.
@@bettys9674 It was more to do with the contract being really restrictive on what they can and can't do. But I don't think they even wanted an offer. They just wanted the free publicity which worked a treat.
@@StraightHeadShotAFG Actually they did added sugar. Adding dates is adding fructose = sugar. They could say no added glucose, but they probably don’t know anything about food basics.
They have a different packaging in my country, but I bought them for the exact mentioned reason, like the product and am really looking forward to this episode now :)
Steel rolled oats, table spoon of Xylitol natural sweetner, boiling water, sprinkle with cinnamon. Best porridge for diabetics and lowering/balancing blood sugar levels. 30p for a large serving.
Update... After the show was aired, they decided to go it alone with the business, rejecting Tej Lalvani's offer since the sales were sky-high and they no longer needed a dragon.
Ok so who else Thought that the introduction with the dancing Bears was incredibly draft especially when the bear in the union jack pants momentarily seemed to be honestly getting into the Doggy Style position 😅
I don't think he was sidelined. Of course Deborah and Peter joined forces for obvious reasons but the other two didn't commit to working together; they just both agreed independently to the proposed terms. Tej could have matched those offers and they could have picked any two from three.
Tej is a great businessman but I’d have taken Deborah and Peter before I could blink. Their energies working together and directed at your project is well worth the extra $$$ IMO bc of the type of exposure those two dragons generate.
That depends. Peter wouldn't be a great job if you want actual help and not just the money. He has too many businesses to spent any personal time on you. Also the brand is world wide now and recognizable, so apparently it worked out great. I have seen it in Malta and Bulgaria.
Not the choice I'd make from the offers given, that said what do I know?. The point is you got a deal and genuinely good luck for the future, love this show :)
Tejs offer was good, but Deborah and Peter couldve added more experiential value to the business. With Tejs connections they’ve managed to be successful til date.
The deal fell through, they ended up rejecting Tej's offer. I think the stat was accross all of DD/shark tank only about 10% of the deals go through. After every episode just google what happened to them, you'll find almost all didnt happen; It's just TV.
Unlike processed sugar Dates/fruit provides fiber, vitamins and minerals. If you're concerned about sugar content you already know to stay away from processed foods.
Watching this, eating organic porridge oats that I buy from a refill shop, they flavour with my own spices and a bit of sucanat sugar. How can this compete with what I just ate? I am out.
Wow, well done Tej, I believe I have seen all Dragons Den and that was a great strategy you used there :) Unfortunately I dont really have a business head so I'm not sure why they took the deal compared to 2 dragons. I suppose Tej and cash was just enough. I was expecting everyone to say no but then after Peter gave it a thumbs up it all changed perhaps future Dragon episodes should have the Dragons giving blind proposals at the beginning and spinning their chairs back like in the Voice :)
@@yagaaaa Lol I did actually know that but think your missing the fact that I said I knew nothing about business :) Please learn to read if your going to comment :)
I am on a special diet (Budwig Protocol) for a life-threatening illness and sugar is a no-no for me. Before I started on it, I had not realised just how many unlikely products (e.g, soups) contain cane sugar, both foods and drinks, or just how many health problems it causes. It is everywhere. Hence record obesity and diabetes figures. Everything I buy has to have the ingredients scrutinised, the often tiny writing adding to that onerous task. I am allowed oats for porridge so will certainly be looking out for that. I do think they should have gone with Debs (she hates that name) and Peter, though it seems the brand has flourished since.
“Cereal investor Peter Jones wants in” I’ll give the narrator that one
Pun 😆
😂
That’s all he’s ever getting!
This is what I call a Dragons Den pitch! The famous narrator! Real business questions! Great negotiation! The new series is very lame with all this rainbow influence 🤦♂️
That honestly went over my head lol
Poor Touker, all he's ever wanted is for someone to take him up on that legendary London office space.
😁😁
Imagine getting a job offer from Touker and then trying to negotiate working from home 😅
has anyone ever taken on rates& costs bill in This/His "Shared" office
There's something very genuine about these two. They clearly care about their product. I hope they've done well since.
Tej is a humble dude. He gets overlooked cause Peter and Deborah have the most deals and recognition. But he’s a great dragon to partner with!
Especially for a product like this, he's pretty much ideal.
He is the health market, and that includes food. They chose right, and got more money
That’s exactly who I’d choose! He’s my favourite dragon especially within this sector!
Tej would be an awesome business partner. Straight forward, low ego , willing to listen/understand.
Same here
Me too, it'd be fantastic to be able to be equal partners with those two. Definitely my two favorite dragons
Word.
Well I mean it's Deborah and Peter isn't it.
Yay I love Tej and people pass up on him too much, great choice!
This is tejs market healthy foods and vitamins. Vitabiotics
The margins issue you have is an issue - Tej Lalvani
Everyone else in the comments is amazed they didn't take Peter & Deborah's offer, when health food is literally Tej's industry 😂 I was watching this like "it's either Tej or NO ONE"
I am so shocked that Peter didn't ask for equity in the other business.
Yeah I thought that’s where he was going with it!! 🤣
I don’t think they’re actually two separate businesses. I think it’s one compay, that sells different brands.
@@AJSSPACEPLACE they are 2 separate companies
How could he do that imagine the hidden details on the other one like debt assets
😂😂😂
It was a great question Tej asked at the end, well played by him 👏
I love seeing Peter's face when he misses out
Lmao I was going to comment about the absolute disgust on his face. I honestly think its just because tej got a good deal
Awesome! 12:53
Tooka Suliman has been "unusually quiet" so many times, it's not unusual any more
Tooka 🤧
😂😂😂
He is in fashion . He is also about to retire . He has to be wise with his money and know where to invest .
He regularly tears up the entrepreneurs products!! 😅😅
😂😂😂😂
I love the constant cut always to Peter staring with his mouth open. He always makes me rethink what was said
Yay , finally Tej wins one over Peter and Deb
yeah i like that :P
wooh, wasn't expecting entrepreneurs will go with this offer
Aargh, spoiler alert
@Travel Crawl Don’t really fully agree with you. This is Tej’s bread and butter, he is the guru of health supplements. Anyway I think they wouldn’t have gone wrong either way.
Yeah they have money from the other business and already have the relationships with retailers so why give away equity?
Peter always cares about the other business 😂
Because it gives an indication over whether they can run a business or not. That's important info for an investor.
and yet if you look at where are they now, the dragon's den offer (programme aired in 2019) was rejected by them before the payment was made and they chose instead to go on their own with "external funding" without having to "pay" for it using equity.

@Hanna Yachou Which is sadly(?) the case for a lot of these.
If they only came on for publicity then dragons den should not show their video on TH-cam.
@Hanna Yachou dragons were too greedy. A third of the business was far too high.
@Hanna Yachou i mean until you sign the contracts it does not mean anything
@@bettys9674 It was more to do with the contract being really restrictive on what they can and can't do. But I don't think they even wanted an offer. They just wanted the free publicity which worked a treat.
What an intelligent offer from Tej!
Tooker offering the lowest equity?! Am I in an alternative universe?
I know right? Normally he doesn’t get out of bed for 20% lol
It's because he ran out of London office space to offer away that day.
@@Jack_Gretchen that would require someone to have actually taken it...
On condition they rented his London office from him no doubt 🤣
So happy they went with Tej!
I like the way they get the "no added sugar" label by simply using ingredients that are naturally high in sugar.
Thats what no added sugar means
@@StraightHeadShotAFG Actually they did added sugar. Adding dates is adding fructose = sugar. They could say no added glucose, but they probably don’t know anything about food basics.
@@brederbeeld dates are delicious and are really good for you tho
Just like those "naturally" cured products that use celery powder instead of nitrates.

Peters face at the end when tej got the deal
They have a different packaging in my country, but I bought them for the exact mentioned reason, like the product and am really looking forward to this episode now :)
I love Touker's smile and involvement in whatever is being presented/ always thinking about what real estate he can offer the entrepreneurs!!

Peter’s face after, I’m weak 😂

I forgot about the bears until reading this comment lol
Why were they there again?
So glad Tej got the deal after he was side-lined by the other dragons.
I don't think he was sidelined. Of course Deborah and Peter joined forces for obvious reasons but the other two didn't commit to working together; they just both agreed independently to the proposed terms. Tej could have matched those offers and they could have picked any two from three.
Very nicely done by Tej
After careful thought, the entrepreneurs actually chose the correct dragon.
Oh well played Tej. Peter was really really shocked 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 you love to see
*First time ever that we see the Dragons walking away from their chairs.*
Well we all knew it must happen but its good to see the theory proven
Yes I noticed that too. Probably after the 20th pitch they were ready to call it a day.😏

Well that went well 😂
Everyone always goes for Peter or Deb… it’s good to see someone else win for a change!🎉
Using dates instead of sugar doesn't necessarily make it healthier
HA! Petey and debs didn't expect that one, or even Tej for that matter. Go Tej!
Very shrewd move Tej. Excellent.
1:01 Nothing looks more pained than Tej trying to smile. He looks like a wax figure that came to life and is now trying to blend in.
Is it just me or the guy looks like Andy from Shawshank Redemption?
Well played Tej. It was a master stroke.
I just love it when they start out with a lame act
The music they play at 8:53 is when you know all the dragons are going to get competitive

I'd jump at the 25% offered by Deborah and Peter any day.
Peter was shell shocked 😲
This porridge is very good. Always grab a bag when in the supermarket.
Peters face was like fire 🔥 at the end
They rejected the offer a month later. Carried on without a dragon.
Clearly their eyes were set on Tej from the onset.
Seeing Peter not get what he wants is priceless! 😂
Love peters face at the end 😂😂
The best choice ❤

worst business mistake ever choosing money over knowledge, Debra and Peter have everything to make it work. Two brains are better than one.
Logic dictates you go with the dragon who already has a healthy food, drinks and vitamins business.
They ended up not taking the deal.
Doesn't matter if you're getting sugar from dates or from cane or beets. You're still getting the same amount of calories.
