This past year, like no other, has reminded us of the power of human connection and how much we can learn from one another. Through this lens, this session will explore the role that outside-of-the-classroom, travel-based learning can play in shaping learners’ abilities to be active and responsive in their communities; to understand diverse perspectives; and to act on issues of global significance. Join the EF Educational Tours Canada in-house education team, along with a small panel of inspiring educators, for a dynamic session that will include:
A short presentation of relevant research and the EF Global Learning Model framework, which can be used to inform out-of-the-classroom learning;
Authentic, effective examples from classrooms across Canada that educators have found shaped learners' abilities to become active and engaged citizens pre, during, and post travel;
1-2 break-out sessions to encourage peer-to-peer learning, reflection, and brainstorming, to allow for conference attendees to collaborate on how they might be able to embed these practices in to their own school communities; and
An opportunity for whole group, round-table sharing to cement the key learnings and takeaways from the conversation.
Educators will leave the session feeling inspired and equipped to find ways to use outside-of-the-classroom, travel-based learning to foster students’ abilities to become interconnected citizens with our planet, geographical regions, cultures, and environmental realities.
