Ex PLA lieutenant here. Our regiment sent one contingent to participate the 2009 parade, and these colleagues trained for almost 1 year for that parade. Once in 10 years, but since Xi, we got 2015 victory day parade, 2017 PLA 80th anniversary parade, 2019 70th national day parade. As tax payer, I am not happy.

No actually i saw a full documentary on these specific soldiers and their train for months and are specifically prepared for this so they train on nothing else so it's all for show.
Besides China doesn't want war their fight by projecting this image

@@johnmabbett6586 the division I served before had two contingents during 2009 parade, you are correct they trained almost for 1 year. Our division had approximately 15,000 personnel, less than 200 people participated in the parade. Now it’s a brigade.
