It doesn't really matter how badly Hasan gets beaten in online arguments or how many documentaries are made criticizing his poor coverage of real world issues.
The people who follow him are usually just looking for someone reinforce their own thoughts. It doesn't matter if it's via made up statistics, spinning the narrative with out of context clips, or just vague statements that have no meaning once people begin questioning it. The only thing that matters to those followers is if the person is big enough that they become a loud speaker for them.
Most of the people who make these videos know this, they are more of a warning to future viewers who might stumble upon him.

It’s hilarious how many people were goading Willy and then proven wrong the moment he went on the stream. Kinda shows that not wanting to engage with someone who hasn’t done their research isn’t an act of cowardice as much as just not wanting to waste your breath.

The missing piece of info in this plan was that if you watched even one video by Willie, you would realize he is actually a smart dude capable of meandering through Hassans bullshit.
And he did that wonderfully, refocusing the convo when needed, refusing to engage with side tangents like when Hasan tried to rope him into talking about Ukraine etc etc.
Most suprising thing to come out of it is that Willie would be a great debater if he wanted to.
TL;DR I still think it was risky for an inexperienced debater like Willy to go onto experienced rhetorician Hasan's stream for an impromptu argument.
Long comment:
While I think everyone with more than two braincells knows that Hasan is wrong and Willy is correct, Hasan was able pull all the cheap tricks on him, and it shows. Hasan arguably had the upper hand throughout the majority of the debate, and only lost because he dropped his rhetorical pants and Willy was intelligent enough to clutch up the win at the final moment, which is why overall Willy did well in the debate - he overperformed better than expected as the underdog. Most of Hasan's slimy tactics are adequately covered on Destiny's channel, but allow me to summarize:
1. Hasan played defense. It's easier to play passive defense in a debate than it is to attack. This is because it's so much easier to deconstruct an argument by nitpicking it like Hasan does, rather than it is to construct a tight, well-thought out argument, like Willy was forced to do on the spot. This is why Steven Crowder has a "change my mind" series, not a "change your mind" series.
2. Hasan tried to get Willy onto his stream ASAP so that Willy wouldn't have time to prepare his points ahead of time. An impromptu debate for Willy means that Hasan gets to make the debate more of a rhetorical battle of very carefully deliberate interruptions. Hasan will talk over Willy when Willy criticizes his "on the spot journalism" but when Willy has a dubious geopolitical take, Hasan will address it because it pivots away from what Willy is actually trying to criticize Hasan for.

I remember my ex talking to me on the phone, telling me how shitty the US is and how it's the worst place to live. I think Hasan was pretty obviously intentionally pivoting the conversation away from his "on the ground journalism" onto geopolitics. He deliberately talked over Willy when Willy talked about his faulty reporting, and carefully let Willy speak about politics. Hasan an experienced rhetorician, but Willy took a risk and it paid off.

If he's talking over Willy or pivoting the conversation, then he's not satisfying the conditions for losing. It's akin to retreating during a fight to the death. It actually took a while for Willy to start winning. At first, Hasan kept pivoting away from his "on the ground journalism" onto geopolitics, and 75% of the debate was Willy pulling the conversation back over and over. But in that back quarter, Hasan began to fumble, Willy took advantage of it, and it was glorious.

Hasan pulled every cheap rhetorical trick out of the book. All Hasan had to do in order to win was to keep pivoting the conversation away from his "on the ground journalism" onto nitpicking Willy's geopolitical takes, and Hasan was more or less successful at that for the first half of the debate. It really wasn't until the back half of the debate that I think Hasan got cocky and began to say stupid things which Willy capitalized on to clutch the W. This wasn't an easy win for Willy, it's a hard-earned, well deserved win, and he handled the pressure really well when he was at a complete disadvantage.
1. Willy was not there to debate geopolitical issues, he was there to backup the claims he'd made in his video(s) about Hasan's shoddy content/practices.
2. Your description of winning a debate is not really winning a debate though, is it. It's how a child argues (or, in this case, a grifter with an average IQ and frighteningly feeble grasp on his claimed area of expertise).

I really wanna know what Ethan Klein thinks of the Willy vs Hasan debate
the funny thing is WillyMacShow wasn't even that good at the debate (i think this might have been his first ever debate) yet he still enialaited Hasan. Can you imagine what would happened if Hasan debated someone more profetional?
Yeah it probably was but i think what helped is commentary TH-cam when done right is like debate you list all your grievances if you are lucky the person responds with a defense and then you provide counterpoints which is what Willy was trying to do but Hasan thinks debate is normal argument so he treats it like an argument and in an argument the loudest wins Hasan was using the wrong format against the wrong person

I love how that Hasan fan at the end was like "Uh but if you cut someone off for speaking than it's obvious coping🤓" because that implies far more to Hasan in the debate, Hasan was constantly cutting Willy off and was the only one shouting over someone in the debate.

I was watching a guy talk about Nick is not green or whoever that guy is. And in that they described how commentary channels there are people who actually try to debate something and have an informed opinion and other people are the feel-good channels they are just there to make you feel better about your opinion and that is what Hassan is. But he acts like he's the guy who is really informed on everything even though he doesn't actually know.
