- John Allan's unique style of 12 string guitar playing, picking out bagpipe tunes with a thumb pick and his singing and story telling combined with his quick wit sense of humor made his performances events that will not be forgotten. His early performances on TV, paved the way for many of the Canadian Celtic Musicians that are popular today. John Allan loved Cape Breton, he constantly promoted the beautiful Island in every performance around the world. He was a great talent and a good friend to all who were lucky to have met him, YEEEESSSS !!! was his trademark ' yell ' that portrayed his positive attitude, he is surely missed.
Cousin of my Father. Gracious, generous and dearly missed. Cape Breton forever.
Will be 10yrs he passed on Nov. 22 2006. still miss him. This is one of the best JAC mix i've ever listen to. Thank you.
I remember John Allan and Jerry Holland coming to Northfield Mass...so wonderful to have met these two
A wonderful tribute. I picked up his LP record at the Treble Clef in Ottawa in the early 70s. Ended up recording with him in the mid 80s and toured Scotland with his Cape Breton Symphony shortly after. He is a legend with whom I had the honor to work with.
Truly the Son Cape Breaton..God bless.
First album I ever owned, age 9, was "Here Comes John Allan Cameron " I saw him many times. Loved him! I'm 58 now
The vaunted television of the U.S.A. cheated me of these great performances way back when. Thank you!!
One of the great men in the history of music
The chance to see the Cape Breton Symphony is phenomenal. JohnAllan truely respected the music.
I was very fortunate to have been able to have seen him
I found this while searching for videos of John Allen Cameron for my grandfather - he absolutely loved this tribute ❤ thank you for sharing
What a great performer, sadly passed far too young.
I saw John Allan and Julie Amato perform a medley of Nova Scotia songs together on Julie's CTV network variety series in 1978 (originating from CFCF-TV in Montreal; Julie sang the Cape Breton Lullaby herself during that medley). I watched it on CTV affiliate CKCO-TV, on its signal from Sarnia/Chatham, Ontario (I think) when that signal came in well in the hometown of my youth, Cleveland Heights, OH, and I recorded that show onto an audio cassette (John Allan also sang a song by himself earlier in that show. I think its title was "Can You Imagine").
I found out later that the title of that last song I mentioned is called "Song for the Mira (Out on the Mira)".
Luved the John Allen... I grew-up with his music!
Cape Breton. I have not seen it yet, hopefully soon.
Love it... Great Entertainer, much missed....

FANTASTIC
The Godfather of celtic music...Alway was and always will be!!!
We used to go to taping of his TV show in Montreal at 405 Ogilvy.
Numnuts007 - Thank you for this. The Godfather of Celtic Music lives in the spirit of scores of Cape Breton performers and performers from all over which he alluded to at the end of the clip. There will never be another! Well done!

Without him we would not have Ashley MacIsaac, Natalie MacMaster, Dave Gunning, The Barra MacNeils, or the Rankin Family. The Rankin Family were his neighbours at one point.
Yup.
Yep,it's the one and only Singalong Jubilee, because Anne Murray got her professional start there, more or less.John Allan Cameron was also a fixture on the show weekly.
Anne Murray and Buddy MacMaster in here too
As well as Ashley MacIsaac, John Morris Rankin and son Stuart Cameron at John Allan and Angela's 25th wedding anniversary party in Markham - all amazing Canadian musicians.
Not to mention a young Bruce Cockburn.
Hi. I would like to use some of this footage for a video I am producing. Who might I speak to for permission? Thanks in advance.
Can someone tell me if the second tune is High Road To Linton?
Whats the tune at 3:41????
I don`t know the name of the tune, but John Allen included it in an instrumental song called "Butterfingers Medley" on the Freeborn Man album. In the medley, there are three guitar tunes, but I don`t know their names. Hope that helps!
