Your notes, umm, Gleaner never had JD engines, the engine in the 50 series were Deutz engines (AKA German diesels) 190 HP, hence the class 5 rating. The R 50 did not replace the R40 but was just a class 5 option, i.e. HP ratings. If memory serves correct, never had 400 bushel capacity some where around 230 ish. They got bad press in their day, but were very good combines both in sample and low cost repairs and maintenance. Field test guys know what I'm talking about. Loved seeing this ole girl running....
