You said you had to get back fishing and wanted to hunt some more. It's amazing to me how much there is to do in the outdoors in fall. So much to the point where a guy (speaking for myself) needs to pick and choose what to hunt for, and for me, I picked up trapping 3 years ago, so for me I need "prioritise" what outdoor activity I want to go with first. I love goose hunting too but haven't done it in two years. Awesome video!! I love the outdoors so much!
Yes there is something not only LIKE but BETTER than HEVI-shot. Its TSS or even the HEAVYWEIGHT federal shot with 18.1 and 15 gram density compared to 12 or 13 gram density of HEVI-shot. I recommend head shots on Geese with number 7 Heavyweight "turkey" loads not much more expensive than HEVI-shot and at 1450 or so fps much more deadly than Hevishot. If you want to kill with body shots out to 80 yards or more use number 6 shot .
sorry 1300 fps but still faster and more dense than HEVI-shot. About 1.50 per shell so 25 would cost $37.50. Remember shells are probably the cheapest thing you buy for goose hunting. You will use less shells if you lead correctly too. The TSS is just too expensive compared to the little gain above these and slower velocity.
