I like creating snowflake shapes out of pipecleaners and putting them in the solution. I must have used more borax because they come out with LOTS of crystals and look like actual snowflakes
Thank you for sharing these projects, these ornaments are exquisite! You have given me the precise answer to a question I've had for a few years now, thank you!
Miss Deidra you have an amazing creative mind ! I love watching to see what you’re going to come up with next because I know it’s going to be awesome ! Thank you for sharing them with us sweet lady .
You are making a saturated solution by using hot water and an overabundance of borax. So as it cools, the borax solution wants to stabilize so it grabs the items in the solution. The cooled solution without something in it is supersaturated and unstable. You could grow pretty crystals by seeding with a crumb of borax or a weighted thread. The latter is a fun activity for kids.
I LOVE this idea - thank you! Also - I wonder if adding a bit of food colouring to the Borax would make pretty coloured sparkles as well as the lovely frosty ones? I'm off to my Christmas lab to do a bit of research...
Great ideas! You really could take those coffee filter snowflakes to the next level though-less paper is better. Get a smaller pair of (sharp) scissors to cut out your shapes, removing even more of the paper. You can even cut out shapes within shapes you’ve already cut out, as well, for a really gorgeous effect. Some light blue food colouring or maybe alcohol ink for the sparkles would be lovely as well.
i saw someone dipping books into borax and then embellishing a little bit. she sells one book for 200 to 400 bucks, depending on the book she used. fascinating :D
@OurUpcycledLife Fragility, yes; but, I am also wondering if the chemicals in the borax would be dangerous too? When my dog was a puppy, she was like a goat! Chomped on anything! I have also seen babies and toddlers who do this too. Is there cause for concern and extra diligence required?
@@KJW930 Borax is known to cause toxicity & potentially death in children & pets if ingested in small quantities & there's other health issues with exposure in adults. The amount that would be on these is probably not enough to cause significant problems but there are still potential issues with exposure to borax outside of toxicity/death. Probably not ideal at lower levels if small children or pets are around and can cause skin irritation with handling.
Beautiful! Quote: "Counting blessings like falling leaves." -Unknown. I think I've seen this used in paint before. I was just wondering if you could use mop and glow to cover the projects. I have a container of mocking glow that I'm trying to figure out how to use. I thought it might be neat on paper beads, since I cannot afford to get the sealer. Huge HUGS and Peace. Namesta 🕉️🐞☯️
So another words 6 cups of hot water and one cup of borax. I'm confused though because I thought you said 3 to 1. And then you said three 1/3 cups. So that would actually be 6 to 1. I'm confused
@OurUpcycledLife a few days ago I seen the last year version of this same video and it was voicing with a veryrobotic female voice, today this video pop up on my feed, its is the same video but with a nicer and more natural voice. It is an excellent improvement for your spanish speaking audience.
Thank you for this great tutorial. Can you reuse the solution after you take your sparkling beauties out? Those poinsettias are absolutely gorgeous !!! Love all of your ideas !! irissavedbygrace
Not in the way you might be thinking, like rat poison and the like. It’s one of those things that MAY be harmful (and yes, has been proven to be harmful), to some people, but only 1:22 with long term repeated exposure. I believe that’s why it’s not really carried commercially by grocery stores, but can still be purchased. I do forget what exactly it causes that is harmful, but it that should be easy enough to find out. Basically, you’ll be ok to use it for something like this…unless you plan on doing this all day every day for the foreseeable future… so just don’t do that. 🤗
@OurUpcycledLife it reminds me of the Christmas my father made the most beautiful melted lead ornaments for the tree 😂 Mom didn't want us to touch them, I thought they must be very fragile. 🤣 They disappeared the next Christmas, never knew where they went. They really were an awesome design. 😁

What?! I have never heard of this before and I love it! I agree with another comment....pinecones would be gorgeous and I have a yard full of them. 🤩
They will look amazing with pinecones!

Great idea
They look like the vintage ornaments that would be covered with glass glitter. Beautiful!
I know! They're so pretty! 😊
I did roses for Mothers day using this method so I'm going to do poinsettia for Christmas. Thanks for sharing ❤
That’s a great idea!
I bet pinecones would look great too
Pinecones close up when wet, something to consider, but they would be amazing if they could be covered in these crystals
@@IMOO1896 I did not think of that. I wonder if you can protect them with some kind of poly or lacquer spray first
Sure would!!
Terrific idea. They would look great too!

@@OurUpcycledLife Before October month I feel going went fast and feel the vibe of Christmas.

Does adding food coloring make the crystals into different colors? Can't wait to do this with the kiddos this year
Yes you can!!
Thanks!
Be careful borax dust can be harm for children
@BizzymomStudio I will even when we use it for slime I handle the borax until it's in the bowl to be stirred. They will wear gloves while doing it.
I was thinking the same thing.
I love all of these. My favorite is the poinsettias. ❤😊
Glad you enjoyed ❄️
It's very important that every individual do this themselves
Wow! Very nice. Ty for sharing. I’m going to have to try the poinsettias
You're welcome! I hope you love how they turn out! ❤️
I love this craft project. Just did halloween ornaments. So much fun.

Very nice ! Thank you for sharing!
I'm so glad you liked them!
Love this! Thank you!
Does the borax damage the pan you put the snowflakes into? I love these and I'm going to experiment with your ideas.
It didn’t mine
Very cool!! Love the flowers
I'm so glad you liked them!
LoVe this. How Do you clean up the Jan and pans?
Love These!!!
Thank You!!!🎄

Very pretty!!!!!
I’m so glad you like them!
So incredibly cute
I think so!
Pretty❤ Do you think this would work on dried orange slices?
Worth a go!
WOW ❤ I'm so simple
Thanks ❤️
Great idea👍👍🙋🏽♀🙋🏽♀ thanks for sharing 😉
Glad you liked it! 🎄
This really cool! Thank you for sharing.
You are welcome! 😊
I have a bunch of clear ice-cicles, but would this work if i painted them first and then borax dip?? Thank you!!
I think they paint would peel off in water
@@OurUpcycledLife thank you
Awesome
Thanks 😊
Thank you❤❤❤
I’m glad you liked it!
And here I’ve been using on my laundry all this time! 🫣 Off to buy more Borax! 💚
Have fun!!

That is a great idea - have fun with your experiment!
Have you ever tried natural tree branches?
Yes works great
love the poinsettias, great idea, are the flowers plastic, fabric or paper , or does it matter ? Thanks do much,
They are fabric ❄️
@@OurUpcycledLife do you know if it works on plastic ?
It will but doesn’t stick all that great and might peel off
@@OurUpcycledLife thanks so much. Changed my order to fabrics 🤗
Do you think this would work with the IOD resin moldings, like the ornaments? My brain is spinning with the possibilities!
I don’t use IOD so unsure. So many possibilities

Oh that sounds beautiful 😻
Very pretty! I wonder though if one needs to be careful of kids and pets handling them or biting them? They are truly lovely! ❤
Yes, these are fragile and would not be good for children or pets to handle!

I want that Borox box!!!!
Love the graphics
Right! I am thinking the same thing
Would this work with crocheted ornaments ? 🤷♀️
Worth a try
Does the sealer dull the sparkle?
I don’t find it does
Can this treatment withstand outdoor conditions, rain, snow, sun etc AND will it yellow over time????????????????????????????????????????????
Indoor use only !!!!!!!!
How long does it last?
Wondering if you could use fresh flowers (roses)
Haven’t tried that
I’d forgotten that method. Love it. 😊❤
I'm glad you remembered it! 😊
En dónde se consigue el bórax ?
Grocery store

That’s what I heard too then was confused.
How do these ornaments store?
No Brasil, onde se encontra bórax para comprar??????
We just cleaned out the shelves in our garage and found an unopened box of borax, I might try using it now.
Wich program did you use for generate the voice on your video?

Plastic
Wow never knew this. And then when you're done with the borax solution you can throw it in your laundry😅
Certainly

Yes you can just gently heat up so crystals dissolve
❤❤❤❤
Thanks for watching
3 - 1/3 cup scoops = 1 whole cup

Yes it is, it is a unstable cleaning product in this form.
Que haces con el resto del preparado
Use in your laundry or use as a toilet bowl cleaner
Unfortunately, in my climate, these crystals turn white and powdery even after sealing sometimes. Usually last long enough for something temporary.
I hear ya - some climates are just tougher!
I sealed mine once and it took away all the shine. I was so upset after all that work!
Oh no!
Whats borax?
en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/20_Mule_Team_Borax
I believe borax is toxic, these are very pretty but I think dangerous for pets or young children.
Yes be carful around pets and children
