      Not really true. Plenty quit because their company doesn't pay so good even if they like their manager but it's out of his control

    Just an amazing conversation, he really transformed Microsoft. But another thing that people have realized during the pandemic, is that their real family, is the one they have at home. The paradigm of the "At XXX company, we are a family" is eroding. People are valuing more closest relationships they have, family, friends, neighbors over co-workers and company culture. You can invest years of your life in a company building professional relationships, advancing, being proud of your work, and then get laid off at the snap of a finger.

    Mr. Nadella is a great eco of Microsoft, he changed Microsoft a lot.
    Like this conversation. And these are 3 points I got at the first time watching.
    I think I need to watch it more!

    3. Before metaverse, we add computational into physics,; in metaverse, we add physics into computational.

    What an awesome interview. I have seen several interviews and talks featuring Satya Nadella and what always strikes me about him is how authentically, genuinely and meaningfully he speaks and answers the questions, as if he has given these a lot of thought and consideration and not just speaking through his hat.

    Very insightful interview by Adi to Satya Nadella, all the time my favourite. I like the concept of weak tie and strong tie, Outside in and inside out, emphasise on caring part of a manager, overall development of connecting tech from e-mail - audio call- video meeting - immersive meeting, and finally the feelings he had of being first time manager. Excellent.

    Empathy is really the keyword. Thats what makes the world work together in any situation. In a time when we are physically disconnected, empathy really is the characteristic that has come out of everyone. From the simplest things such as, "Hey, I need a short break" to a lot more complex situations, the transfer of that characteristic onto the virtual world is what really makes connections happen. Thank you for a wonderful conversation Satya! This was one of those interviews that felt like a connection between humans instead of a highly successful person giving bread crumbs.

    Great interview! One of the biggest problem that I have seen at Microsoft Canada and in all the other countries that I have lived and worked showed me one thing: you get promoted thanks to click/group that you belong and not thanks to your talents and accomplishments. I could make a a comedy about Microsoft Canada where the marketing, product and the sales group used to waste so much time in useless PowerPoint presentations where people used to attend just to show that they were busy. During these meetings no one used to follow the presentation and instead text and send e-mails. AT the end of the meeting they re-schedule a follow up meeting which would be as useless as the one that you just attended.

    That digitization of everything, including recordings, does improve the spread of company knowledge but at the same time will also prevent people from speaking up and create a negative company culture. A lot of people already have some degree of stage fright along with a fear of saying something viewed as dumb that it further increases their mental barrier to have what they say be recorded and easily accessible by anyone in the company, at any time. Also, what kind of culture does digitization create since it will be used in part to determine promotions, salary increases and termination decisions. People will be fighting over an explicit description of their contributions in conversations as they worry they will not get credit if someone else has the first digital foot print of it.

    I love the ending part about empathy, shared it with my group but the reply or comment i got from one of my leadership was very....i dont know how to explain... This is the reply translated from Malay language...."In an organization if too much goes in people's shoes will eventually lead to stress and can eventually lead to bankrupt management"

    The interview said, roughly... "leaders are not born they adapt and learn and grow"
    I used to work at Microsoft, and Lisa Brummel believed that leaders were born, they couldn't be made. I argued with her about that, pointing to the Marine Corps where it's expected that every Marine can be a leader, some are born, most have to learn and take the courage to step up.
    Of course she absolutely refused to accept that, and in the process, destroyed the review process at Microsoft with the 20-70-10 model turning it into a competition complete with back stabbing with a focus on success of self, rather than a focus on the team's success.
    I'm no longer there but I'm glad she's gone and that the review model, I've heard, has returned to some level of normalcy.

    That final question i would have said: problem solving.. but you summed it up in very humane way with i believe describes the emotion behind problem solving.. empathy!! it is the emotion you feel for the the problem you to want to solve an a good human nature provides you with the emotion that leads to motivation to see the problem solving through till the point of bringing a concept solution to market.. that's innovation to me.. i hope that's what you mean by empathy.. that's how i understood it anyway.. Cheers Microsoft!! understanding how we feel about wanting to make a better future for the people of earth.. forgive me if i sound retarded.. i don't know what I'm talking about.. i haven't been educated by traditional means.. i just know Microsoft is now the highest capped stock in the market in what 16 months? and i share the same name as the location of the head quarters.. thanks for your time

    Is sitting in one place and talking about work, work? The energy within someone , what happens to that and how does that fall into the unfinished puzzle of communication? Is the term "work place" so limiting, that even in the virtual world we are in a box? The Universe hopefully is beyond definition. Hope the "Metaverse" catches up. (just my thought)

    This is Devon with DCWB. We are a meta based business network. Our business structure would raise 4 million at just 10 Memberships.Let's be real, there's are only 3 reasons why you wouldn't want to do business with us;
    You don't think it would work. (we have a plan)
    You don't think people would use it. (we are creating the utility)
    You dont think it would be profitable. (NFT projects with no utility sell for millions. We are creating utility for businesses not consumers)
    Look there are three possibilities
    1. you ignore this (no sweat of either of us)
    2. you have a 15 minute meeting and forget all about me after the fact.
    or

    The only problem is this is going to increase depression and other mental issues because not everyone is blessed to have a normal family and social circle. Also people that work in IT don’t want to socialize because only such love machines. This going to have to work forced them to get out of their cocoon. I like wfh but I see grave consequences in the long run from people perspective and certain cities financial stability. Companies are mostly going to thrive because they can get talents from around the world. This takes away the resource location limitation.

    You are right on your comment that people do not leave companies but leave their managers. The reason is the lack of care and empathy that you later developed during this interview. I think that Microsoft has evolved but RACISM was a major problem at Microsoft Canada and many people use to leave the company. They would have an African American in the leadership just to show that they were not racist but it was only a show. There was as well another major issue between a Full Time Employee (FTE) and the other employees working at Microsoft as a second class non FTE. This was a good trick to falsify the real numbers that worked at Microsoft Canada by having these non-Microsoft employees working through third parties without any benefits and future. NON FTE's were not authorized to use any of the facilities on the campus and they had a badge with a different color in order to show that they were not a real Microsoft employee. It reminded me of the Nazi Germany occupation where the Jewish people had to wear the yellow sign of Star of David. People do not know how ugly is Microsoft looking from outside. It is great to see Satya as the new CEO with a non-Anglo-Saxon background.

    I truly feel no matter how great of a creation I may have been apart of as I do my best within my own personal battles being physically present with the World's greatest Leaders , I sincerely am saddened that Mentally I cannot consistantly engage as I know I can. I put to much on myself here ,no Love or appreciation is one thing but when anything is wrong in this house all fingers point to me as the worst sibling.I have a problem not being able to walk away. Tomorrow maybe I'll find my feet.

    Microsoft lacks credibility when orienting itself around the human aspects of work because it is a very inhuman organization.
    I appreciate Nadella’s ideas but when he uses words like “first order artifacts” it reminds me that my time there was spent trying to decode endless buzzwords. (They even had an employee search box to look up buzzwords words maintained by full time librarian!)
    In order to build a human organization you need to first talk like a human and treat other people like human beings. I didn’t experience a lot of that at the company.
