Cousin Ditto and Grandma Hydrox sadly passed away in 2021 and 2022. Sammy, Nancy, Richard, Goldie, Ziggy, Ringo, and Eva were rescued in 2022. All of their journeys from feral cats to house cats can be followed in the vlog videos on this channel.

Please note: The standard conventional vet protocol for cat dermatitis is to administer steroids and place the cat in an ecollar or onesie. Here are the reasons why we are trying alternative options:
* Boo was diagnosed as FIV+ and should not take steroids. Steroids work by suppressing the immune system and weakening its activity. A cat with FIV already has a weakened immune system. We do not want to make it weaker. We want to make it stronger.
* Steroids are known to cause kidney damage as well as other health issues in cats.
* Any time I have tried to put an ecollar on Boo, whether a traditional ecollar or soft ecollar, he has freaked out so much I thought he was going to hurt himself and cause himself physical damage. They are not an option for him.
* It is impossible to get Boo into a onesie. He puts up too much of a fight and is too big and strong to be forced into one.
Therefore, this video documents several of the options and alternatives that we are trying in order to avoid what is listed above. Thank you for understanding.

If going to the vet is very hard on Boo there are now many mobile vets that can come to your location. Just a thought.
Unfortunately, there are no good local holistic vets who make house calls. I try to avoid allopathic vets unless for emergencies.
Didn't think about holistic only. Guess you are right that there are a minority of that profession and no one to come to you. So sorry.

Poor Boo and his itching, I hope things get better for him. Nancy finally starting to be a good girl and she still gets bopped by Stella, not fair. Ziggy can't wait for the combing and having sneaky fun under the Christmas tree. Hopefully one day there will be no more growling and hissing inside the house and also when Bob comes to the downstairs window to say hello.

I read back a bit of the live chat. There is a lot of support and compassion for Boo. I would like to chime in with that. Boo has his natural charm to thank for that. We all hate to see our proud Boo in this condition. I hope that the vet visit and the magic powder will work wonders. It may be just me, but i thought i could see a slight improvement in the end of the video, both in Boo's looks and in his demeanor.

Well done, Sharon! I bet you could produce some super onesie designs as well. Boo has a new punk hair style with gel! He does look cool in his new vest, and is really becoming quite a clothes -horse- cat. For the carrier drama, have you ever tried just throwing a towel over him to pick him up? You may want to search 'tiny kittens feral intake' to see the techniques they use on ferocious ferals. So glad to hear that the vet recognized the problem right away and had a remedy that seems to help.
Yes, that is one of the techniques that I used that day. It took multiple tries of doing that to get him in the carrier. Boo is extremely large, strong, and fast.
@@LuckyFerals Oh, good. It's so interesting that they think they are hidden when they can't see what's around them. Unfortunately, Boo is very intelligent, and has memories of what that carrier means.
What about using towel play in calmer moments, to give it a different connotation, linking it to affectionate cuddling? In any case, well done getting him in and home again without too much damage to his dignity.
Not sure Benadryl would work but it may stop the feeling of wanting to itch. My cats would get that to help with their allergies to keep them from having asthma attacks.

I wonder how all this started for you. And I wonder if you ever get judged from others or neighbors for helping the cats. You are such an inspiration, I guess wld just like to know more about you. What are some of the hassles you have that you don’t talk about in the videos.

I feel like you could have an easier time getting the cats into carriers if you had carriers set out all the time for the cats to use as beds. They will go in without a fight

Couldn’t you put the powder on Boo and then put his turtleneck and vest on him? That way it will help with the itching and he can’t get to it to lick.
he wasn’t supposed to lick it, because according to the vet, it tastes horrible for cats.
Wouldn’t the shirt and sweater keep him covered so he wouldn’t to able to reach and lick the scabs.
So sad. Why did they get fleas?

My cats have never ingested them. All of my cats are rescued feral cats who grew up in nature and lived among lots and lots of evergreen pines.
