If you want to really get good at speedrunning, I would highly advise binding Grab and Down into one button. It not only makes this trick easier, but you can also fastfall much easier using this method since the timing for fastfalling is only 1 frame without a wall. It is also useful for various other maneuvers.
this is a very good suggestion, a fastfall bind is pretty much essential for speedrunning the game and i'll bring it up in the eventual fastfall tutorial for sure, definitely can make this trick a bit easier too

@@rafaelgutierrez6275 if you do the same setup but press the pizza crusher inputs on the frame after you start holding grab and down then you can sometimes get upwards of 23 speed, its really precise and i personally havent been able to do it but it is nuts

I was hostely focusing more on ska cha cha in the backround but still this is a really useful strat!
Fiddled around with this for a couple minutes, and it seems that the reason this happens is because for whatever reason the spin sends you farther/faster horizontally if you press it instantly while not holding the run button. If you hit the wall with a midair grab or press the spin button at any other point of the bounce regardless of whether or not you hold run, the spin always goes the exact same distance. I wonder what exactly it is about the specific combination of mach state + instant press + not holding run that causes it to act differently?
from what we've found, it seems that the vertical speed from a wallbounce is translated into horizontal speed somehow by doing these inputs, we still need to look into it a bit more but thats what we know so far
Something of note is that Noise doesn’t actually maintain the speed forever, and will start losing speed after a while. At that point it’s better to cancel the tornado by pressing x. This can be avoided by going into a gap by starting a roll, which will let Noise run at mach 4 normally.
This is still a very useful video, I bet woosting will become as common as grab slides in the future.
the speed of the tornado doesn't decrease, you just get reset back to mach 3 speed upon releasing it with a grab or by not holding down. you can avoid that by uppercutting against a low ceiling in mid-air, releasing down in a gap like you said or taunting a frame before breaking a marble block

Recently i found out you dont even need a wall for this. Actually, you dont need anything. If you superjump ( i recommend binding it to a button as the noise) you can cancel it by using the tornado move and you have maximum speed. Usefull if you need to break a metal block, and have no speed
that's a somewhat neat trick but doesn't give you the same speed as wallboosting does, so it isn't terribly useful
I went looking for p rank wr in all levels because apparently the former WR has a lot of places where i would never make a mistake and k think i can actually break that record. Thanks to this video, now it's possible

Hay, i have discovered another trick while jumping into a wall, stop running (just like this trick) but dont press down just grab away in to opposite direction. this will send you Flying
and the best thing about it is that you can chain this trick so if you fly with the trick into a wall just grab again in the opposite direction but dont hold run and it will do the same thing without any setup
that would be somewhat useful if spamming crusher cancel didnt let you get to insane heights much faster and more reliably, but i think this was how we partially discovered that a trick like wallboosting was possible

you can infinite jump by jump then hold up and just repeat jump + grab while holding up and make sure to keep notice of direction its basicly was made on purpose because a clothe was made where you just fly with this technique i usually do this when i fall or in need of someway to get up mid air without just respawning
thats called crusher cancelling (yes, its intended and yes, its very useful)
@@cocoasprinklez for me the way i spam is not by spammning but reapeting holding up jump and grab because if u accidently prsss grab again noise will cancel by uppercut

(I was doing that thinking that is was a common mechanic)
Another tip: When you grab when doing a tornado spin, you enter the mach roll state, so if you let go of down then, you go straight into mach speeds. So, if a wall is nowhere near you, mach run at any speed, jump, press down then when you land press grab and then let go of down to go into instant mach 3. I'm not a speedrunner myself but I think this could be useful in some cases.
oh that's something literally called instant mach 3, usually pretty useful to do from a standstill when at the start of the level or when exiting a door or other locked-movement transition like the rockets in deep dish 9
fun fact, you can actually do this without the mach 3 as long as you can long jump before hand.
yeah thats why i mentioned long jumping, as that instantly gets you to 12 speed, the start of mach 3

I don’t understand how you can get back to normal Mach 4 running (bullet) after you do the trick because after it you just stay as the drill so how can you become normal again?
Even if you don’t do speedrunning, this trick will still help with p ranks and lap 2

During my amateur attempts at speedrunning Bloodsauce Dungeon I noticed that every now and then I could immediately cancel out of Tornado into a mach run instead of cancelling into a slide. I still have no idea how to pull this off consistently, so would you happen to know how?

nice tutorial, 1 question tho, some people woosting and get mach 4 instead of getting mach 3 when released the down button
thats likely because of taunt retention, if you are going to break a breakable block on the next frame of movement while in a tornado, you can taunt and then release down when the taunt ends to maintain speed
if its being maintained against a low ceiling by uppercutting then thats called uppercut retention
and if you are in a tornado and enter a one-tile gap, you can release down while in the gap to maintain your speed when you are out of the gap

that means you really don't have to do the trick in a run if you dont want to, you can get surprisingly far with just movement and level memorisation alone

oh thats the speedrun practice mod by stackman, currently the only way to get the downpatched version that works on the latest update is by asking in the speedrunning discord server but it should be fully working soon via gamebanana

can i use a multibind for woosting?
apparently you can hold down a fast fall multibind (down + grab) as you bounce off the wall and perform a woost that way, but it isn't entirely necessary as the inputs to perform a woost aren't that precise anyway

no, since this is done across multiple frames you cant bind it to a multibind, multibinds are only really used for tech that need several frame perfect inputs like high jumps and fastfalls
however, if you use set a key to the multibind "UP + DOWN + JUMP + GROUNDPOUND" and press it right after spinning off the wall with GRAB then you can do an even faster type of woost called a hyperwoost (or hywoost for short)
Could you explain how to woost off of a ladder?
i would assume you press jump to let go of the ladder and then grab towards the nearest wall, doing the woost as normal from there
i may be wrong though since im not terribly experienced with running the game as noise

Why do they call it mach 4 when mach 3 is the limit?
no thats a common misunderstanding, mach 1 is 6-8 speed, mach 2 is 8-12 speed, mach 3 is 12-16 speed and mach 4 is 16-20 speed. i can't remember how that misunderstanding began but yeah thats wrong
@@cocoasprinklez how tf is walking a part of a mach RUN? There was mach 4 back in the sage demo i believe, with the first two being the acceleration
As soon as you press the run button you briefly go into mach 1 where you can still turn around instantly, mach 2 is the part where you skid when turning but can't hurt enemies, and then 3 and 4 are the fast ones

nope, thus shouldn't ever get patched because sertif (lead programmer) intentionally doesnt patch this stuff out so we dont have to play on older versions to speedrun the game

You can do this with pepino it's called "tasmach"
i guess they're similar but not only is it very much a tas-exclusive trick but it only works from left-to-right and not vise versa
