Damn..This tourney is lit. No wonder why EVO is one of the biggest tournament of the year if not the best. Keev - the champ. Best in adapting add that with his great spacing and aggresive style. The Best nightmare out there. Chan - Did really well imo despite a character disadvantage in the finals. Most creative in using the unpredictability of his character. Best cervantes ive seen. Shk - no offense to him but in the top 4. I could say he is the least. I think even yuan could beat him in a set. Yuan - his siegfried dances is always a beautiful show. Too defensive imo though. 2nd best sieg after linkorz.

I starting to learn soul calibur 6 in a more in-depth level. I was looking at the match of the Siegfried vs Cervantes. Since the Cervantes was using so many low pokes, why didn't the Siegfried tried to low crush? Is it too much of a risk? Or is it that Siegfried doesn't have a good low crush move?

I always liked Nightmare, but he seems a bit too OP in SCVI. His attacks are not as telegraphed as other characters', but at the same time they hit way harder. That's quite evident if you compare him to Cervantes or Zasalamel. I don't say that to disparage Keev--he's an amazingly skilled player and could have been the winner even with a nerfed Nightmare. I'm just pointing out something that bothers me as a player.
Unfortunately inbetween those plays was alot of readable attempts at mixup whichlead to the Taki getting baited to death. Smart plays don't matter if you start them by consistently doing the same duckable setup.

Because if you don't practice with it ALOT it's super readable to the point that the opponent knows what's coming before the animation even starts. Another thing is often it doesn't give you a good combo option. There's a reason kevv is the champ.

The samurai didn't get much love in this version, you have to work really hard if you want to win high level matches especially against zoners. Maxi and Seig are solid you can win a lot on heavy damage (Seig) or neverending mix up (maxi)

Eventhubs certainly isn't reliable in the long run, but there's a definite reason why he's still placed at #1 - besides the fact that Nightmare is a scrub slayer character so scrubs overestimate him, it's the residual votes from early on in the game's lifespan. Competitive players all agreed that he was top tier and it wasn't just in theory - Nightmare, Siegfried, and Ivy took most of the tournaments in the west, while Azwel was more prominent in Japan. The early top tiers were: Ivy, Nightmare, Siegfried, Azwel, Yoshimitsu, Sophitia Ivy was probably pound for pound the best character if you ignored human limitations, with good options for every situation, though they tended to be situational. Nightmare had definite advantages when you introduce the human element just because of his simplicity. The reason a precise top 3 is in question is because you can finagle about things like Azwel's exact position. Certainly, Azwel had all around excellent frame data for the attacks his players relied on, but we didn't see as much competitive success from him as Siegfried in the west. In Japan, however, Azwel went pretty nuts, hence he got more nerfs than anybody in patch 1.10. In most fighting games, Japan generally sets the best precedent due to having the best players, but as we can see in this very video, that hasn't really been the case for SC. Even historically, there were gods like DTN and Aris back in the days of SC1 and 2. But I digress. Around this time, Geralt, Seong Mina, and Grøh certainly showed a ton of potential because even from the start SC6 had a pretty strong sense of balance, but they tended to lose out to the top tiers in the end. The characters which people seemed most disappointed with around this time were Taki, Astaroth, and Tira. Patch 1.10 only lasted like a month before things got mixed up again due to 1.11 being comprised of changes that were postponed due to time constraints, but most notably Grøh and Raph received massive buffs and really rose to the fore, with many competitive players considering Raph overpowered. You can see a lot of bitching about these characters around this time. Other characters started to see increased usage due to buffs they received. Mitsurugi usage really started to pick up. Now, however? It's pretty early to tell, but it really does seem to be a big balance improvement. Multiple characters have received very significant emphasis to their unique mechanics - Maxi really pops out in my mind, and his competitive use has skyrocketed. Azwel's swath of nerfs became a rebalancing of his moves in general to be more equivalently useful. Raph got knocked down a peg. That in mind, taking all of the above into account, Nightmare's current position, which is definitely not in the top 3 spot he used to command, is more the result of not just his nerfs, which honestly were packaged with buffs in some cases, but every other character getting various buffs which made them much more viable and able to compete. In light of that, he's a very solid mid-tier character and Keev just happens to be a god with him, which is interestingly a repeat of SC5's history.

As a PS2 game? Hell yea it was good. Bunch of modes and good features. Tons of replay value with the branching stories and Tales mode. And it maintained continuity with SE (SB), SC1, and SC2. Was it PERFECT? No. SC2 is the best. The actual fighting mechanics were a partial regression to SC1 and were inferior to SC2. The arcade version removed most of the special characters, but I found it very enjoyable. SC4 was kinda fun with a good online mode. But it went over the top with Star Wars and those ridiculous hyper-super-kill moves when the armor is broken off. The story also strayed too far from the source. This tells me I was looking at the corpse of SC. The PSP game and that PS3 freemium game were just NOT GOOD. Kratos could not save this. SC5 requires its own video to showcase how much of an abomination it is. So, yea, SC3 was the last authentic SC game and everything after it sucked.
