I thought Ahmed and Shaff were ineffective vs the low block. They are good counter attack players but when it’s time to create and be patient it’s a little bit difficult. Ahmed would be better in the midfield imo. When the vets got in we saw an immediate change in control and ideas and they scored. We’ll see how Marsch reacts next game. Also JD said that we slowed down the press because we realized we weren’t faster than Suriname, I thought it was more because of the fast artificial turf, the ball was flying out there on that pitch, very hard to press in those situations.
Switch Ahmed over to the left side and start Hoilett on the right. For the same reason we switched Shaff from a sub to a starter at Copa. It wasn't just the goal. Hoilett was connecting very well with David. Let them do it when David is fresh. Buchanan can sub on for Hoilett at 60 mins, or even at the half. And Shaff can come in at 70 mins for Ahmed and raise hell. Gonna be real rough for Suriname at BMO.
Ok, overall JD is insightful (altough Johnston on Becker was not even remotely close to what even a strict ref would give a red for and he does seem to underestimate how much Canada missing chances played a role here) but Canada not being faster then Suriname, really? For most of the game Suriname was actively bunkering down and when they attacked they mostly did so at the counter. Suriname didn't even try to compete in term of speed with Canada.
Phil, the first two plays ▶️ we're all speed test & Vlijter & Becaker used Speed the entire game ... Please 🙏 go back & listen to your coach .. I never said the entire team Just the outlet players
Menzo start bijna altijd met vreemde opstellingen, die man heeft een keepers mentaliteit, hij wil dat niemand in het doel mag schieten.Wat er op het middenveld gebeurd, lijkt hem niet zo te deren.
Respectfully disagree here, for two reasons: I. One of the reasons the game stayed 0-0 for that long was because Suriname was quite good at bunkering, which sounds like a backhanded compliment but really isn't: bunkering is a skill and Suriname did it well. Change your midfield to have players who aren't as defensively oriented would have lessened the efficiency of the low block, which probably means Canada buried at least one when they were loudly knocking at the door early on, and then Suriname has to open up, since they are down early on at home and that probably don't end well for Suriname... II. Defenders are probably Suriname's strong suit overall. Play less defenders in the midfield and you have to play players who simply aren't as talented overall, especially with Paal being a scratch. Considering Canada has a descent talent gap as it is I don't see a move increasing it working out for Suriname.
I do think it might be wise to start Oso with Kone in the midfield. It's true that Eustaquio has been shown to be vulnerable to being bullied off the ball. That can't be said about Oso or Kone, so simply remove that game plan from Suriname. Eustaquio can come on late to see out the game smartly.
Give credit to Suriname, great potential. But Canada should have gone ahead much earlier.
Great commentary from both of you. Respect to Canada and Suriname. I see good things in their future.
Josh rocking the Mo `vember stash! 🤣👍

Not bloody likely, though as a Canadian fan I'd sure like to see them pull it off somehow.
Glad the days of Borjan juggling are behind us. What an idiotic display that was

Why Suriname lost the first game is on the trainer he start without a creat midfielder
Lol ya that is your only issue... So delusional

The creative danger will come mostly from Misidjan.
