Demon Cleaner is originally by Kyuss, not Tool. Honestly, most people don't even know of that Cover, so i'm suprised you mentioned it, let alone confused the two. Both are good though. When you do Tool again, you should do Parabol+Parabola. it's 1 song, split in 2 tracks on the album. The music video for "Parabola" has both in it. Should be about 10 minutes in full.

Queens of the Stone Age have been done so dirty on this channel, solely because their popular songs aren't representative of their roots in Kyuss or why their fans are die hards.
Song for the Dead or Mexicola will knock your socks off. They're both heavy!!!
Edit: Mexicola is a great example of their Kyuss roots but Song for the Dead is just a slam dunk. Anything in their top 5 streaming are gonna be the songs that got mass appeal/radio play but they're all softer rock/poppier. They have so much variety, I think they're a perfect candidate for a rundown video!

The big change in Kyuss was their change of bassists. This was the last album they did with Nick Olivery, who was a very straightforward punk-oriented guy. For me, Kyuss became "Almighty Kyuss" with Scott Reeder, who brought a whole different level and musicianship and - especially - groove to the band. He played the bass like a lead instrument, similar to Cliff Burton, and inspired Josh Homme's Songwriting. Yes, you should check out "Space Cadet", because this was written and played on bass (sounds like a guitar) and is a nice example of how differently they sounded with Scott.

It was such a revelation when this song first blasted out of my speakers in 1992. A psychedelic hard and heavy sound that took no prisoners. No one sounded like them at the time. In an instant it made me forget all of the disastrous overproduced eighties musical outputs. Producer Chriss Goss had a big role in forming the Kyuss sound(his own band, Masters of Reality, has released some masterpieces too). This album was the birth of that sound. Their first output wasn't as well(and right) produced as "Blues For the Red Sun".

Nah, considering the entire metal scene, generally they are never talked about. Even in Sludge Metal there known as a "hidden gem", at least every time I hear about them being brought up in conversation. I only came across them by accident after 10 years of listening to rock and metal. I've gone out of my way to listen to everything I can, from Nu-Metal, Sludge, Trash, Death, Noise Rock, Grunge, everything. doesn't help that there stuff is really hard to find. I always saw them as a Cult Following kinda thing. maybe they are REALLY huge, but for sludge metal I always hear about other bands first, like Mastadon even then when I look up best/biggest Sludge Metal, Acid Bath never came up. if they are a huge deal, then its the first I'm hearing about it. Not trying to sound entitled or anything when I say their under appreciated.

@exarmed ya sludge metal isn't popular. a band being well liked in an underground genre doesn't mean they're not underappreciated by the wider metal audience.

@exarmed I think we have very different ideas as to what constitutes "very popular".

Love me some Kyuss! Check out "Writhe". And you guys are correct, cuz I love watching metal reactions, but I've been a subsciber of yours for 5 years, and others last about 5 weeks. They are not objective and either seem to like everything, or make excuses for everything. You guys are rocking it tonight. Peace!

I believe demon cleaner was written by Kyuss/Josh Homme. Tool did a cover of the song.

One thing for me is that Welcome to Sky Valley is so good, that it can take away from everything else they've done. I get it lol.

TBH I was a bit dissapointed when the videos you uploaded today were hip hop songs (nothing against the songs/artists/genre...just that i prefer to see your reactions to hard rock/metal and derivatives) but you knocked me down picked me up and knocked me down again by uploading your reaction to one of my fave songs/bands/albums of all time...halfway thru the video right now but i had to write my comment...bigthnx!!!!

there are a lot of reaction channels out there in this 'genre' (for lack of a better term) but you guys always hold back on the fake enthusiasm, and that always makes the payoff when you hit on something dope and just eat up on it, i always re-watch your black sabbath takes for that reason. never feel guilty for not fakeing it!
PS: "black sabbath - the wizard" for an easy win😈

Kyuss is my all time favorite. Gardenia is their best song imo. Green Machine is their most mainstream song, it actually got radio airplay back in the day. Freedom Run is great and has their classic stoner sound. Hwy 74 off their first album Wretch is a fast paced banger with less of a stoner sound but one of my favorites. I don't think you'd like Space Cadet, it's very slow and lacks the heavy fuzzy guitar sound.
