@@joulohuiuk You are SO WRONG & misleading😤. If locals lay Astro turf( artificial grass) they only lay for a small awkward area or where mowing might be difficult to reach. Local would NEVER lay a big piece Astro turf smack bang in middle of a large area as you’ve done. And local would certainly maintain some green space. Unlike what you have did, complete paved over. This is not a garden, rather a backyard. Devoid of life, barren, stark and lifeless. kalun888 so right, you are “stereotype Hong Konger”.
@@claireleung5716 No matter what it’s our own choices with own reasons. It’s not necessary to criticize someone for paving as I have also seen many local brits doing the same ie. paving and laying Astro turf for ENTIRE GARDEN. On the other hand, there are many hkgers that I know who have laid real turf and done lots of planting in their gardens. So “stereotype” is not existing at all but perhaps it does exist in your narrow mind.

You can pave up ENTIRE backyard with concrete and dry salt fish for all I care. 新界村屋. But you are BOASTING & POSTING a very bad & selfish idea that is harming the environment. Other HKers have blindly followed your misleading idea because they don’t know any better. You are giving a bad name for Hong Kong people. Living in U.K., our mentality is more than just a BBQ in the backyard. We are inclusive to nature & wildlife, there are plenty room to share with nature. Just look at HK now, hardly any green spaces.
You have lived here for ...? 2 yrs now, then you should know British people embrace & promote gardening to support a healthy environment. There are plethora of garden programmes even for a low maintenance garden. Late Queen’s Green Canopy to plant a tree for her Platinum Jubilee, Prince William’s Earth Shot, COP27 etc. We are more considered beyond the walls of our houses.
