    Stunning compilation. I particularly enjoyed the aerial views of 130 & its immaculate ‘consist’; juxtaposed with the majesty of the mountains lining the WHR route over the summit.

    Beautifully shot. Wonderful sound. Well chosen locations. Fabulous editing and explanatory text.. I may have to watch it twice..

    could you explain the "flange lubrication" thing mentioned at 2:00?

      On our normal modern carriages there is equipment which lays a small amount of grease on the rails to ease the squealing and wear which occurs. As we didn't use these carriages last year, it has been necessary to run some empty trains with flange lubrication equipment to keep the track and trains in a good state.

      These are referred to as 'flange lubrication' trains, as these bogie carriages are fitted with grease sticks to help prevent squealing when the train passes round the tight curves along the railway. As the train proceeds the lubricating grease is transferred from the wheel flanges onto the rail edge, which ensures that all locos, carriages and wagons benefit from their use.

      thanks, i thought it would be just wanted to make sure, i didnt know this was used in the UK, ive only heard of it being used in Peru
