Part of the reason why BoCo (and Bear) are so aminable and respectful towards the other engines is that, unlike Diesel and Mavis (who came from large classes that wiped out a lot of steam engines), they never had a chance to gain a Superiority Complex due to being members of small, failed classes and, surrounded by older, successful engines, they realised they were in no position to talk down to them, as they were fellow survivors.
Henry deserves a mention as well.
He was always given the boot at the start due to his flawed design and was almost on the verge of getting sent away. After his crash, he was rebuilt into a much stronger and more useful engine, which lead to him becoming the fleet's biggest chad on the mainline.
I love that Edward is #1 on your list. He's my all-time favorite character in Thomas & Friends. Thomas is the face of the show, while Edward is the HEART of the show. I even called him, “Old Reliable Edward.” Even his theme song is very catchy too. That’s why I love him even more.
@@s.p.d.magentaranger1822 Tug and Darkness should do a collaboration with each other in the future. That would be awesome to see.
@@s.p.d.magentaranger1822 Unlucky said it best. "If you're a child, you're a fan of Thomas. When you become an adult, you start to appreciate how awesome Edward is."
Toby is best boy
I even named my turtle after him
Definitely, Percy is too well behaved. Why does he work so hard to be unnoticed??
Because he knows behind the scenes work is just as important as any public facing work. It's why he likes the post train so much, because he can unwind and collect his thoughts for the next day's work.
Boco love is rare, my respect to you.
9:10 "And he still remains a highlight of Sodor to this very day."
*Has another mental breakdown*
I would love it if next year's video was about how Toppam skirted the Beeching cuts and the BR Modernization Plan.
As a old model train enthusiast I am glad to see I am not the only adult that enjoys Thomas and friends. Of course it didn't hurt that my interest started with conductor George Carlins! Funny thing is many adults don't realize George Carlins was a conductor! As a dad I used to keep a ear on what the kids watched on TV listening one day I recognized a voice I knew well and had to go look! As it turned out with no profanity in George Carlins voice it just didn't seem to be him. And had to watch. He did absolutely great job. To bad he didn't keep going longer in the show. R.I.P George Carlins.
THX FOR PUTTING EDWARD AS THE NUMBER ONE OF THE BEST ENGINES
Hiro should have been a honorable mention. Kind, humble and greatfull
Hiro? A Japanese engine? Excellent! My son-in-Law is called Hiro, married my English daughter. I confess I know little of the latter day Thomas the tank engine.
YAY! I FINALLY HAVE THE THEME SONG STUCK IN MY HEAD AGAIN! wait...
BOCO!... YES, YES, YES... YES!!
Another thing about Edward, depending on which era of the show you watch Edward helped build the sodor railway
Duck and Edward are my favourite from the series.
Kinda dissapointed you didn't put Bear on this list. He made one of the most wholesome remarks in the whole series. Upon being bought by Sir Toppam Hatt and recieving an official name, he says: "Its nicer than just a number. Having a name means you really belong."
I mean
Not everyone knows who bear is since he only appeared in the rws
And I'm pretty sure he only appeared in like
2 books
If only they had more budget
Edward actually inspired my own personality as an engine. Mine is a bit of a british/german/american hybrid.
9:15 at that moment I'm like "Sodor is real to me dammit!"
If it's any consolation darkness The characters of Thomas and Friends were inspired by regular steam trains being the "goodess of bois" so they are out there. You just need to know where to look ☺️🚂
Being US-born, watching Thomas the Tank Engine, I call the Sodor railway controller “Sir Topham Hatt”.
A diesel, who let A E Pearlman vote on this list ?
One should also say in the book, Edwards damage was MUCH worse then in the show! Making it honestly even more impressife he pulled this off
I was waiting for someone to do a Thomas themed train video for Aprils fools! Nice to see you've continued the trend
Solid list
Solid list! Duck is one of my favorite characters of all time.
Rheneas, is the real, really useful engine. His is the true story (Dolgoch, Tallylyn railway)
Alright, an April Fools video I can get behind! You should think about doing some more Railway Series/Thomas and Friends content from time to time!
The Railway Series did kick off with Edward's day off in May 1945 right at the end of WWII in Europe
Paxton should have at least a mention because he is a successful class and a very nice diesel
Edward is named after my great great grandfather who built the vicarage in North Emneth and served as vicar there for many years. The Rev Awdry lived there and also served as vicar and wrote the books in the house office many years later.
If you have honorable mentions darkness, I could see Thomas, Gordon, Henry, Emily, and Bear being on this list.
This episode was great! as a follow up, what about doing a comparison to the trains on the Island of Sodor to the actual engines they are based on.
I think you must be dealing with some childhood trauma from originally learning that Sodor isn’t real Josh. It’s ok buddy. Sodor can be real in our hearts 😂😂😂
My favourite story as a kid, was Edwards Exploit! (I had a VHS tape with the second half of season 2 on it! That thing is like my holy grail!)
I've always had much respect for Edward. It's just a shame, the television series, especially the HIT era, ruined him!
This is an amazing video. Maybe do more videos about Thomas and friends videos.
Great list! Happy that BoCo is included and Edward is first. Although that’s probably because the both of us grew up in the early model era lol.
6:24 actually a funny fact if we're going off their classes Thomas and Toby are just one year apart and if Percy is based off Trojan class he was built in the 18th century and is the oldest out of the three once you start looking up the build the dates of these engines classes you realise Thomas is older than Gordon Bill and Ben older than BoCo Stepney is older than Edward
YESYESYESYESYESYES!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My thoughts are heeded! Good to know you still make outstanding videos! Continue these particular series! Will ya ever bring in a list engines from the BWBA era like Nia & Rebecca? (Like on a list with great potential that never was realized. Especially ones like Rebecca my favourite female characters have this Problem.)
Can't wait for the next April fools special about worst trains in chuggington
If you do another video on this topic, you can include the Following:
1) The LNER A4 Pacifics
2) Austerity Tanks
3) EMD F units
4) TGV Sud-Est
5) British Rail class 373 (Eurostar)
3:50.
Hey, its Bob! (Only the cool kids know what i am talking about)
The Brits supposedly getting mad when you call him Sir Topam Hat reminds me of how Europeans lose their shit if you call Lego "Legos" in plural.
I guess they have a point there but Fat Controller sounds like a nickname for the Xbox Duke controller, it doesn't even sound like a person lol.
I love how this is a legit teir list instead of a goofy ahh choo choo train list
I often wish that Percy was female instead of male (but still have her be named Percy and have her look and sound identical to her male counterpart in every single way) since Percy is a uni gender name that is short for both Perceval and Persephone and Percy also has a uni gender look so it totally could have worked.
The Perfect Sequel Exists!
Yep!
please tell me you have sequels planned in future lol
I Love Edward. He is my favorite Character Who has Started it all in the Railway Series
It's ok we understand how you feel. But you know what it can always be real and your imagination.
Fans will be very glad to know that BoCo will be back in the revival era.
What revival era? Is Mattel rebooting Thomas again? or is it a fan made project?
@@AvengingSaints that’s what could be happening after the Marc Forster movie.
There as another kids train show my older kids loved called chuggington maybe do a short video of trains from that also
Percy is actually a dead ringer for the L & Y 0-4-0 saddle tank known as the pug. After the big 4 came into existence the L.M.S took them over
Darkness finally lost his mind
Edward was always my favorite in the show since I was a child.
8:30... No, he goes from a 4-4-0 to a 4-2-2. But, yeah. His tractive effort would have been cut in half.
Ah, shoot. I had it backwards. I'll cut that out. Thanks for the correction.
I don't care if this was an April Fools prank, as while the island of Sodor isn't real, the stories are! In fact, Edward is one of my favorite characters (the other being Thomas). However I knew about him in the Hit entertainment era, but even still there are some good episodes that make Edward as you describe in this list. My personal favorite "Edward the great," and I'm certain you don't like that era, or hate it (given many references to the classics), at least give it a watch to see if I'm wrong.
NEED PART 2
I think you forgot Hiro ❤

Percy is mischievous

Vicarstown (Vickerstown) is real tho *hugs*
mavis!!!
Edward is goat
This is great! Question…are any of them really that good? Aren’t they all based on British Railways engines? And we all know how much you like those…
In real life all the steam engines were quite good (though Percy doesn't really have an exact basis so he doesn't count). BoCo is the only one who was terrible in real life, but like I said he was reengined to avoid that issue.
@@HistoryintheDark Even when BoCo was in original condition on Sodor, he was better than the official British Railways engines, and was only re-engined because, according to lore, they found a spare English Electric 12CVT engine and the (self-deprecatingly - he's been know to call himself this with a rueful grin in jest, so no, we're not being rude!) Fat Controller said it would be a shame not to use it. So BoCo was re-engined.
I typically set these videos speed on 1.25x and hardly tell a difference because darkness tends to talk slowly.
Seriously, set these videos on that speed and you won’t notice anything different.
Edward is god
Nice ranking. My only complaint is that Oliver is nowhere in sight, but I'm happy with your other choices.
Why no Gordon in frist try atualized that
darkness us Australians also call him the fat controller
Percy is the only questionable one here
He's just a little munchkin, he's ok at his job, and isn't that weird looking, he's just little
@@giovannibonifati And worst of it
ITS DIRTY ITS A DIRTY CATEPILLAR I MEAN A DIRTY PERCY-
What a shame Edward had to get that stupid steam to diesel conversion therapy. That moment was complete and utter cringe.
8:30 4-2-2 single
Yea, someone else caught that. I just finished cutting out that bit to avoid confusion. Had my wheels backwards.
Oliver gang
One does not simply… walk into Sodor.
darkness prank us you know.
In europe being fat is so rare that its considered a complemang
"Edward would tell you not to touch the hot stove and scold you when you did it. Skarloey would tell you not to touch the hot stove and laugh when you did it. And toby would just watch you touch the stove."
---The Unlucky Tug, 2024
Good quote that suited this video.
And Percy would be the one touching the stove.
