Well, you could steal the Leftovers and Scope Lens and make use of them during the battle, but the items disappear as soon as the fight is over.

Funnily enough, this rule does not apply for Totem Pokemon, meaning you could have a Cubone steal Totem Marowak's Thick Club and beat it over the head with it.
