I really appreciate the guide echo, I got a little sad when you said my imagination is the limit for the rails because I'm not a very creative person 😂
Seriously though, thanks for the tutorial. I currently have the problem of wanting to ship items between colonies using the teleporter system and having issues because they'll literally send everything.. I didn't think you could control it.. but now I know you CAN with the meter... combine that with a reset and now I can have my food making colony send over a shipment of food every cycle of a certain amount... which is awesome! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!
GrindThisGame sent me. I have no regrets. Your tutorials are so well paced and easy to understand, I finally got my stables covered with an auto sweeper. I tend to get overwhelmed mid game, but I think you might be the one to help me get over my hang-ups. Thank you, thank you, and my hatches and dupes thank you.
Fantastic tutorial. You explain everything step by step, explain problems and bugs, and most importantly, are not boring. I'm loving your voice and flow of the video for this tutorial and am relieved to finally find a good tutorial for this game. Thanks. :)
Shipping tutorial: Step 1) Pick one character you like. Step 2) Pick another character you like. Step 3) Imagine them in a romantic relationship (fanfiction, fanart, and telling everyone else about your ship is optional).
Great video as usual, I'm always surprised how much I get from these types of videos, I did want to point out though, @8:17 it's worth noting that if both the critter feeder and storage bin are priority 1 there's a chance the auto sweeper won't move material top the critter feeder, I usually set the feeder to priority 2 and the storage bins to 1 to avoid this, I am not sure where this is not needed but as it is for food, for me it's just best practice now haha
@@EchoRidgeGaming ahhh... That makes a lot of sense, I fall into the trap of finding a solution to a problem then applying it like a blanket solution haha, glad to see you managed this video this week but don't spread yourself too thin
Great video, super useful. If I ever have to look up something in a game on TH-cam I feel the devs have failed in explaining it in game. I was having a bit of trouble getting my head around the shipping and the little text descriptions didn't help much but the way you explained this is brilliant. I didn't realise the auto sweeper actually loaded things too, I was using it to load a conveyor loader (yes I do realise that is loading!) then I couldn't figure out how to get the coal into the generator. You've given me all the info I needed so thank you very much! Time to build my hatch farm and power station! This game is so complicated, I love it! Addicted!
Amazing video, thank you! Do you have any idea how many videos I searched before I found one that could simply explain conveyors?? It was a lot. And they were all either insane ramblings that went on for 1:52:00, or "here's how I built the most complex loader system technically possible". Lol
Dupes can not only take the fire pole down, but they can carry way more. Dupes ftw! Also, great tutorial. The step-by-step is a good confidence builder. :)
One thing to watch out for: the rail's temperature sensor doesn't mix when the rail is carrying only micrograms of material. Or rather, things in the micrograms don't exchange heat with their surroundings so putting them in a loop conditioned on a temperature sensor may soon fill the loop. (I had a sad experience with my food rotting because of this.)
Very true, I have a Aluminium volcano tamer with a temp sensor that will drop the material under the auto sweeper if it doesn't trigger the temp sensor, the original idea was to speed up the temperature spread, the unexpected bonus was that it stopped the micro gram packets clogging up the system
Random question. I have exactly zero knowledge in/about ONI outside of your videos, so pardon me if this is something already well known. What would happen if you compressed a gas past its density as a liquid? Does is condense back into a liquid? and if not, is there a limit? can you reach 10000 KG of CO2 per tile?
Absolutely nothing happens in gas form, except some popped eardrums. If it was liquid, then it would damage tiles around it until they break, unless they are doors or airflow tiles
Dupes, they can carry more kg at once while even if the sweeper arm can hold in a lot, the rail supports only 20kg, plus the auto dispenser can drop items in very large quanities while the conveyor shute only 20 kg, again. Dupes don't need electricity to run, but using them can cause chain reactions at times, while the sweeper arm is labor-free. BUT it all depends on how you want to ship, if you want to constantly move materials (like for ranches) sweep arms are the best, however if you are looking forward to moving tons of materials asap, dupes have to step in there and do the job
Awesome work! Love your voice (acting). One thing though: about the conveyer shutoff... What if the rails are full? Does stuff move upwards then? Or does it work cleanly in an IF open THEN put stuff through ELSE move further?
Love your tutorials, very clear and fun. Can you do one on the rocket system? I haven't been playing with that yet since the huge update. How do you start? How to design your interior? Nice to have vs need to have? ect.
Fantastic guide. one thing I hoped to find that you didnt adress was how to make two rail merge into one in a T section. Sometimes it works in my game, sometimes it doesnt, and I still don't understand why and how it works or not...
You are right, I should have had the different connections highlighted. The biggest difference, if it helps, between rails and pipes is rails need both ends completed to work. (Imagine the conveyer loaders pushing the rails items forward).
Not so bad guide, but you have missed the idea of using the conveyor rail detector and chute to make a power free "filter", much how people do with gas pipes
For the rail thermal properties you should test which one if either has an effect on heat transfer between tiles of coolant which could matter for things like metal volcano tamers which have a lot of issues with needing heat balancing.
You can daisychain sweepers with storage bins with the first bin having a priority of one then 2,3,4 etc. Then you can move 1ton 8 tiles per second. Usefully for robo mining from the bottom to the top.just let the liquid drop as you strip mine as you should also prepare a liquid sorting infrastructure in place at the bottom.
Awesome tutorial. Didn't learn too much, but enough to make worth the watch. I'm pretty sure Amari can transport more coal by using the transportation tube system though ;-)
Heh, I now challange you to make the whole automation tab next, all things included, how can they be used and a few contraptions combining multiple automation devices, like the clock
Have you ever tried for the Easy Livin acheivement? I'm working on an all acheivement run and for some reason I can't get this acheivement easily (ironic, no ;P). I can brute force it by empting a storage unit and have the auto sweeper fill it back up; but I have to do so manually for 10 cycles to insure I can do it and it's not fun. I figure there's a better way, but I'm having trouble figuring out the rules. Sometimes it'll indicate the auto sweeper did more; but it won't count the day. Any ideas on how to tackle this acheivement?
I have and it is one of the tricky ones for sure. Try putting all the dupes on a 10 cycle vacation or have them do the bare minimum for colony survival.
@@EchoRidgeGaming That's one of the first things I tried. Every with scheduling them nothing but downtime and sleep; they still seem to do enough tasks to mess things up... Maybe flip the script? Make a priority hamster wheel gym that just powers a light or something. Build up the dupes Athelitics and keep them busy at the same time. Whatcha think?
Just had a brainstorm for Easy Livin. Haven't tested it since my last base is pretty scuffed at this point. 1). If you're doing an all acheivement run, you need to finish Super Sustainable before attempting Easy Livin. 2). Make a room with Coal Generators, can probably get away with attaching it to your power spine, but don't add automation. You want them to run full force. 3) Auto-Sweepers to feed the generators. Seems to be the ideal use for coal you've been stockpiling from your Hatches and after you get the Easy Livin Acheivement, you can move on to steel. Whatcha think?
Echo Ridge Game for president 2024 lol if you figure all this out in such detail the U.S. would be back a good country i been playing ONI for 2 yrs and 75% of what you said in more then half tutorials in this playlist haha I've learned so much from you , now i'm pro , well maybe someday i'll be pro but compare to what i new before i found your channel & tutorials i feel pro now thank you , i definitely Subscribed and going to re-watch your tutorials and start hitting or more like smash the like button.

Just go after it. You might be surprised what you come up with!

Thank you! Best Oni tutorials!!!
Very well produced. I appreciate this tutorial had no over the top exaggerated theatrics. Subscribed.

after 500 cycles, finally decided to use shipping, lol
y would u need advance research for d solid filter :(
im not ready yet for rocketry...

Lol. Nicely done.
Very handy info, Echo, ty. - The new dupes are too cute, can't wait to get one in my base.
Tyfs. Hope your week is going well.
Certified Bridge Experts! Every last one of us. I LOL at 4:13.

I love this type of content. Thanks for the helpful tutorial Echo!
You know how to make high quality content dude 👍💪

I've thought the same thing, but it seems the auto sweeper knows the feeder is a one-way fill.

Dude, for real.
If you don’t need to worry about power you could have a chain of sweepers with storage bins to get to it and it’ll go a lot faster
Thank you for the great explanation of shipping. I have just recently started using it so this helps a lot.

Yes, I should have included a blurb about this. I have run into this issue many times.
Heeeyy! Great to see another video!
