ok, quick story time, in the Kickstarter I could see that not all of the spells from D&D where in their project for legal purposes but I had just started playing a warlock and I need a hex spell that was not in the available spells so I contacted them and after some talk about how they could not do certain cards I had an idea about 1 AM in the morning about how they could do the cards in a legal way I told them that they should do art that looks like the spells that they could not do and add no text to the cards and let the backers put what they wanted on the cards, they loved the idea and decided to use it as well as sending me a box of all their previous works and some of the prototype cards as a thanks, now seeing my idea in real life is so cool especially since I am a games design student in college so happy :)
Great idea! I only ordered the Deck of Many Things because the idea of having only *some* of the spells animated made the other decks feel sort of pointless to me. Your proposed solution is brilliant!
Ngl the fact they put the classes on the bottom murders the future proofing when later books and subclasses started adding spells exclusive to other classes to each other. Looking back at these now when considering buying the full range and I'm less inclined.
I’ve seen people complaining about it, but for me the best part about these cards is that they lump all the classes together. As an experienced player and DM, I know the lower level spells for each class, at least well enough to choose them and look up details later. The spell book cards for a whole class have no value to me - but these, especially the cantrips and level 1-3 are enormously useful when you’re working with new players, who aren’t wading through Xanathar’s for a few new spells. It lowers the barrier to entry for new players playing literally any class, and is visually exciting for them instead of being a boring piece of card with a short essay on it.
I bought 2 decks of many animated things (one for me and a friend)....they are amazing! The artwork is incredible and i have used the cards in a homemade campaign. Everyone loves them and it made it feel like you really have the real wounderous/ legendary item.
@@malgorzatakawken I'm in the US and the shipping is minimum 16.35 for 9 day shipping. I was ready to buy these but not when I have to pay close to $40 to get them in a reasonable time frame.
I hope that now you guys are a full business that those backer exclusives will become available for all to purchase, maybe as part of their own decks (such as 9th level spells containing meteor swarm with a different animation to separate it from the Kickstarter Exclusives).
Ok with produce flame can you ball your fist and have the flame cover your fist? If yes then can you use ball lighting to coat your fist then punch (yes j do have monk and druid and some rings) and I use action surge or something but can i?
One dnd is the upgraded version of 5 e. You'll need an updated version of the old cards that came out. Since i already own all spell cards from 5 e, i was wondering if you could just give me the updated or new spells that came out, instead of making me buy everything from square 1 again.
I am a dm and I would love these if a deck of many things turns up, but if the angel of death has the stats on the back I won’t be able to fan them out and say “pick one, chose wisely”
lol, when I was at the site I didn't it was cards in reality, didn't understand how it's made it's great looking, even though I imagined a little different realisation of animation thank you for showing it for actual players it's probably amazing

@@JustinShands thanks man, I did it just to get the Hex for my warlock 😁
You're a hero bro
Which explains why "Toll the dead" is not a card, but why they have a bell tolling card....neat
Yea, 1am solution are always the best
The glare from the light covered up half the animation. Looks good from what I could see. Any news on the higher level spells? (6 and higher)

Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this with us! I'll pass your feedback along to the team to consider!
These. Look. FANTASTIC!!! Excited to get my hands on them. They're looking absolutely top notch!

I'm impressed with the art quality, really looking forward to receiving them!

I hope you do an unboxing for all of the sets since I backed for all of them and I am so excited!!!
Wish we had the option to have that same back, I'd like to use this deck as an Oracle deck
They are super pretty but the shipping is so freaking expensive
Agreed, £20 for me, luckily I have a relative in America that's coming over so they didn't have to pay such a shipping cost
Sana all

Ya I’m buying some of these now this looks cool af

They look amazing. Can't wait to get the full set in the mail!
This is so cool but where is the most important cantrip!? I miss my Green flame blade...
Absolutely fantastic! Great art work.
4:05 That was supposed to be Toll the Dead, wasn't it?
I got both of these for christmas and they are EPIC
I assume the blank one with the bell was originally for "Toll the Dead"? ;-)

I'm excited about the new Kickstarter!
Was about to buy these, but that shipping cost... oof
Not sure why you left the overhead light on, the glare messes it up
need to turn off the light above and have lights pointing from the sides so we get a better view.
Jaw droppingly good
So glad I backed
Was that Flynn the Fine as the bard? Or is it perhaps a more recent bard, Scanlan Shorthalt?
I wish they were standard card size
what a great idea

The avatar of death isn't a card in the deck. It appears when the skull card is drawn. So fan away!
oh good gravy I can't wait to get mine :)
Could you tell us if your going to have spells from books other than the players handbook?
We can only make spells available to us in the SRD. Here's the list: www.5thsrd.org/spellcasting/spell_indexes/spells_by_level/
Toll the dead, primal savagery, thunderclap, blade ward
The first one is probably Word of Radiance
every time he flicks a card, my yu-gi-oh player younger self wants to punch him in the kidney...
well if it ain't ol' Burt Reynolds himself
what are these cards called how are they made?
These are our Animated Spell cards and they're made using lenticular lenses!
That's a rad back to the things deck though
man it's good i don't live in the us i would've ordered so many
I think you should do packs of each classes spells.
lol, when I was at the site I didn't it was cards in reality, didn't understand how it's made

thank you for showing it
for actual players it's probably amazing
OMG IM SO EXCITED!!!!! :D
Are these spells ONLY from the original Player Handbook, or are some Xanathar's in there as well etc?
That's correct! We made spells of everything we could, but unfortunately spells from content like Xanathar's is not included.
You should send a copy of True Strike to Kieran from Cinemassacre lol
Wait, did I miss thornwhip as a cantrip?
Oh they’re holographic. I was wondering how the hell they made physical cards with animations on them.
The bard is from critical role.
Who else came from dingo doodles
Are u nerds
most definitely
