Everyone's talking about how they want you to react to Harry's new song, but honestly, I think you should wait for when the album "Fine Line" drops on December 13 and he releases more singles. I'd LOVE to see an album review. Same with Louis's debut album "Walls" being released in January
I wrote this analysis after a view viewings of the video. Please let me know what you think. x I’ve been thinking about this video a lot... and there’s a lot I want to say on how I perceived the video. I haven’t read anyone else’s thoughts. So this is just purely what I’m thinking at the moment. Take it with a grain of salt. |✨| I want to start with the imagery... Harry’s surrounded by many scantily clad women and he’s being shoved around quite a bit. He’s looking around trying to smile but clearly confused. Then, later men are introduced and he /relaxes/. Then we see imagery of both there together and he seems to be having fun. I think this is a visual representation of his struggle to find his sexuality and so publicly. He was in so many public straight relationships, shoved into them usually and he never seemed happy or comfortable in them. But once he discovered who he was he was able to properly enjoy himself. |✨| The imagery of him yelling at the mirror to me is self reflection. Maybe anger that it took him so long to figure everything out. I understand the feeling of hating my past self so it’s very possible. |✨| The sinking in water... I think this imagery is a prequel to the imagery of SOTT where he’s sitting above the water finally content. But, before he was drowning in his own confusion and self doubt. |✨| Then the bike I think is just true freedom. And the /rush/ of freedom. |✨| Now the lyrics...I think Harry’s saying he could survive in that unknown, but why would he? Why would he subject himself to that again? ‘I could but wouldn’t stay’. And then I think referencing returning to band he says ‘it’d be sweet if things just stayed the same’. In my opinion saying that he’d want to continue being outspoken about who is actually is and not be stuck with his 1D image. |✨| And then he talks about the lights of stardom... which harkens back to Don’t Let Me Go when he didn’t realize they’d be so bright meaning so controlling and in charge. But the way he talks about it this time, guys.... all the fame that came with those lights didn’t make him happy. And due to them people think they /know/ him. But, we don’t even know ourselves so how could we know him? This is probably one of my favorite lines from any song. The wordplay and the ideas behind it. It’s beautiful and so deep... that is if I’m interrupting that correctly. |✨| And then the bridge... Harry is going to shine. He doesn’t care about the lights. He’s going to fully be himself and let people think what they want to think. He’s never going back to being confused and insecure. He’s finally free. IG: Creaturesinthewind 💕

They also think it's about figuring out who he is. The song was also released on LGBTQ awareness day in the VS and the UK ( where Harry is from). He said a couple of times that he doesn't feel the need to label his sexuality but a lot of fans think he just did. In the video clip you can also see that he is dancing with boys and girls and that he even leans into the boys more. Just wanted to let you know love the Harry styles videos!!!!
