Thank you for sharing this insight into the work and the dancer’s inner worlds, especially during this trying time. It’s always such a blow when you miss out on a performance for an injury, but it’s another thing altogether when a pandemic strikes and the work dies suddenly. It’s such a bazaar situation, and I think it’s hard to find a place to put it your mind so that you can come to terms. From my experience, the best thing to keep in mind when an external force prevents you from dancing is that the change externally doesn’t change who you are internally. Dancer is an identity. You can be jamming in your room, bobbing your head to some tunes in the car, or on stage performing Prince Albrecht or Aurora, it doesn’t matter. Intrinsically, you are a dancer, and you always will be. Yes, this whole thing is pretty rough, but you will get through it. In the mean time, get to know a new part of yourself, perhaps one that you’ve neglected to pursue your main passion; dance. Balance is a wonderful thing to have...
And not just in center. :)
You’ll get through this just fine. 💪
